教育专业申请总结——活出PS中的自己（世毕盟学员）

清华大学心理学系

申请中最重要的不是你最终的结果，而是在这个过程中对自己经历和能力的回溯。通过对自己的反思，你意识到自己的经历在多大程度上反应了你这个人。也正是这种反思，让你能够在以后的学习中更好地去面对自己。所以我和朋友们总是互相开玩笑，说以后一定要“活出PS中的自己”。毕竟所有的头衔、所有的big names都是你的附属品，只有你清楚自己的能力与兴趣，也只有你能决定自己的未来。

2、GPA 因为不喜欢的课不好好学，我的成绩在班里不算高的，但是90.7/100对外国人来说可能还是一个比较有竞争力的分数。美国的教育学院大多需要第三方机构（如WES）来重新审核和计算你的成绩，其中85分以上的都记成A，而一些非核世毕盟留学：www.xiexiebang.com志存高远，与优秀的人为伍，脚踏实地，人生必定辉煌。

心课程的比重会被相应降低（例如体育课会被记为0学分）。所以最后申请哈佛和哥大的时候，用的都是3.85/4.00，看起来还是比较吸引人的。不过话说回来，不管你最后怎么调整自己的学分绩，它的波动范围都是很小的，最重要的还是平时的努力。

3、推荐信

我最重要的一封推荐信来自于斯坦福心理学系的教授。我大三暑假在他的一位博士生那里当了两个月的RA，小老板后来给我洋洋洒洒事无巨细地写了四页的推荐，大老板签了字。我的运气比较好，碰到了善良的大老板和负责的小老板，当然这也离不开暑研时的努力和一些套磁的技巧。

另三封推荐信来自于本系的教授，他们对我都比较了解（所以能够提及很多细节上的观察），指导过我的研究（所以能客观证实我PS中的内容），在国际上也享有一定的声誉（对许多外国人来说有名的中国心理学家就那么几个，所以能认识其中之一也是一件幸事）。

4、GRE 和 TOEFL 我GRE是在大二暑假花了一个半月一次考过的，托福大一考的那次过期了，所以大三上又考了一次。英语应试对我一直都不是一个太大的问题，当时也预见到了GRE可能要多考几次，所以就比较早地准备了（后来发现这也确实是一个相当明智的选择）。

5、CV 和 PS 我的申请材料都是冲着心理PhD项目准备的，所以突出了我的研究能力和研究经历。但由于最后没能申上名校的PhD，也无从判定自己的PS写得是好还是坏。我认为写PS最重要的还是讲述一个属于你自己的故事，但最难的部分就是讲一个能够吸引对方的故事。这就和谈恋爱一样，姑娘有她明面上的标准（有房有车），但她可能内心渴望嫁给一个“懂她”的人；你看到了姑娘的要求，并试图猜想她的内心，现在你需要用你的故事来打动她。所以我在PS开头写了自己的小故事来讲述我为什么要学心理学（以及艺术教育），之后再列出我的优势和兴趣点。这样写会比较有特色，但切忌为了写故事而生搬硬套。哈佛的艺术教育项目最后给了我全奖，很大程度是因为他们想要支持教育学院下做音乐和心理交叉研究的学生，而我的故事恰巧打动了他们。

关于CV我没有太多可说的，因为我没有实习经历。但需要注意的一点是CV不是缩减版的PS，它需要有自己简洁的重点。

6、面试

只有剑桥的教育学系需要我面试。当时虽然已经拿到了牛津的offer，但还是非世毕盟留学：www.xiexiebang.com志存高远，与优秀的人为伍，脚踏实地，人生必定辉煌。

常紧张，面试前5个小时开始茶饭不思，反复检查skype。不过真的和面试官聊起来的时候也慢慢得不是那么紧张了。面试官问了我来剑桥的学习计划，我自己的研究项目，以及我对一些教育问题的看法。但比较重要的是她问我有什么问题问她，我当时就准备了一个问题：你们的选拔机制是怎么样的，什么特质决定了一个学生能被你们录取。不过她的回答也比较官方，就是综合能力什么的。我唯一没做好的一点就是只准备了一个问题，当她问我是否有更多问题我说no的时候比较尴尬。

7、关于选择

虽然对自己PhD的定位是失败的，但我还是拿到了许多名校的硕士offer，所以选择的时候有很多纠结。牛津的两年学术硕士理应是相当稳妥的选择，但由于个人兴趣，又难以割舍对艺术领域研究的热爱。最终是因为哈佛的奖学金让我做了最后的决定。我想和各位说的是你最终总要做出一个决定，它没有好坏，只是它将陪伴你终身而已。如果你想着另一个平行时空中的你只是在过着一个不一样的生活，就会觉得选择完之后的确定感才是你真正追求的。不管如何，勇敢地去做出选择。
