Up is definitely one of the better Pixar efforts.It's about the grandeur

['ɡrændʒə] and excitement of flight and adventure.The first ten minutes of the film about Carl and his life-long love Ellie are surprisingly touching.It's heartbreaking to see him lose his wife even at old age.With nothing left to do Carl heads for South America, but he's not alone.Russell, a Wilderness Explorer [ik'splɔ:rə] trying to earn his “Assisting the Elderly” badge ['bædʒ], has stowed away on the porch after being sent on a snipe [snaip]沙锥鸟 hunt by Carl the day before.The relationship of father and son that forms between Carl and Russell is completely believable.The filmmakers certainly know how to make a film with endearing [in'diəriŋ] characters.The animation is gorgeous.Several scenes in Up are some of the most memorable that I've ever seen in animated

['ænimeitid] films.Like other Pixar films Up is also very funny.Thankfully, it's sweet humour instead of the gross humour that's present in many of today's Hollywood films.In conclusion, Up is another daring, unusual and beautiful animated ['ænimeitid] film from Pixar that both children and adults will enjoy watching.I highly recommend it.Finally,the “The Shawshank Redemption [ri'dempʃən]”.I don’t know how to express the feeling about this film.the movie is so great and Andy is a bloody

smart man!When I had finished watching the movie,I was excited and wanted to watch it again.Wheather the figures and details or the spirit that the music conveyed to.“Hope is dangerous” Red had ever said,But Andy has always sticked to it.He didn’t cry when he was thrown into prison though he was innocent.On contrary, he found ways to kill long time to escape.He helped the head of the prison do the illegal things in order to gain some freedom.He rebuilt a library and helped the other prisoners.All the prisoners liked him, for he helped them find hope again.Perhaps it was time to escape, in a lightening and thundering night, he escaped from the prison through the hole he had dug for twenty years.He was free eventually.I like Andy ,for his talent and his wisedom.And the most important thing that I like is his spirit—never giving up.

First saw “Forrest Gump”, I was confused by the feathers.The director put the feather as the opening and closing ceremonies, what is the performance mean? The story is one of an abandoned baby who is found on a ocean liner by one of the ship's crew.He is unofficially adopted and named “1900” for the year in which he was born.At a very early age the boy demonstrates an extraordinary gift for piano playing which is only strengthened in his passing years.The boy grows up with no official identity, into a man having never taken a step off of the ship onto dry land in his whole life.The young man, played by Tim Roth is encouraged by his dear friend to leave the boat and pursue a life of fame and fortune as the great pianist he has become.1900 declines, explaining simply that everything he needs is on the boat.Although the storyline was weak, the great piano music was good enough to make it uncommon.I particularly like the following scene.When 1900 played the piano for Max, he created different music for different people with different action and expression.The amazing place was that the music was so appropriate.That was the most interesting part of the movie.This a “sleeper,” a very good film few people have heard about.The ones who have reviewed it here obviously know about it and you can see by their comments how well-liked it is.....so if you haven't seen it, check it out.In North America, it's called “The Legend Of 1900.”

The movie is definitely unique, The best thing about this film, to me at least, was not the story-which I did enjoy-but the cinematography.Wow, what a great-looking film.Speaking of looks, Melanie Thierry is gorgeous.Too bad she has only a small part in this movie.肖申克的救赎

The story may sound simple, but the truth behind the words is remarkable.When I heard the name of the film first time, I considered the Shawshank to be a man’ name, but in fact it is a jail’s name——a hell in the world.Not only for the inhumanity of the jailors——they behaved brutally;but also for the jail gnawed at people’ heart by keeping them waiting and waiting as life passed.It seemed that only those utterly worthless people who gave up everything could survive.That’s where the story happened.The part impressed me most is when Andy got out of the jail.He extended his arms in front of him in the heavy rain as if he were welcoming the fresh air and the freedom.At that moment, I saw the confidence win the darkness, discharging light dazzling the eyes in the dark blue sky.Under the light, I could feel my recreant heart being shivering as his voice said: “Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies!”

That’s why I like this film: it encourages people to fight to preserve the dignity of human beings, to appreciate the beauty of life, and the most importance is to keep hope forever.He once that is born, that is die.Everyone is the same.The only difference is whether busy living or busy dying.The film tells us that even a man can live once, but if he keeps confidence, keeps hope and works his life right, then once is enough.The confidence is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark, the hope is the chief happiness that this world affords, and the life should be full of the singing of the bird and the happiness hope brings." Will we inform other people of the upcoming disaster? Will we escape first without considering other people’s lives? Will we abandon our family, our friends, even our nation? The film teaches me of love, responsibility, forgiveness, and so on.Don’t think that the plot in 2012 has been exaggerated, actually it is really based on science.Looking at our earth carefully, we have done so much damage to it.All the nations should do its best to protect our earth, because in some sense it is to protect ourselves.We need no more arks, and the doomsday will never come.3.《The Shawshank Redemption》

The hero of this film, a paleoclimatologist named Jack Hall, discovers that the huge polar ice sheet is melting quickly due to the global warming.The situation will lower ocean temperatures, and then causes a massive climate shift which brings about many natural disasters and eventually a new ice age.It’s too late to inform everyone in the nation, and when people realize the situation and try to move to the warmer south, the disaster has arrived.Meanwhile, Jack’s son Sam is attending an academic competition with his friends in New York.As Jack’s request, Sam and his friends stay in the library and burn books to get warm.Worrying about his son, Jack and his two partners set out for New York to rescue his son.Overcoming all the difficulties including the death of a partner, Jack finally arrives in New York and finds the library.Gladly finding Sam and his friends are all alive, Jack embraces Sam tightly for a long time.In Mexico, the new President orders search and rescue teams to look for other survivors, having been given hope by the survival of Sam's group.This is another disaster film, and it deeply shocked my heart again.Although there are countless people die in the disaster, I believe that survivors have learned a lot, and people all over the world will take action to protect our earth.In addition, the relationship between Jack and Sam runs through the whole film.I want to say Jack is a great father, because he does what he promised his son no matter how difficult it is.At the same time, Sam is also a great young man, because he is intelligent, brave and responsible.Both of them set good examples for us.It’s a great film, not for its large investment and magnificent scenes, but for what it brings to human beings.The film entitled Braveheart,which tells of the story of Sir William Wallace ,a Scotland’s hero in 13th century to protest against the cruel king of England, Edward I.Although the reason is seemingly a romantic revernge for his fiancée who was killed by an English landlord.The struggle was so fierce ,bloody and magnificent that any spectator can not come to himself or herself after seeing a series of campaigns that were shown in the movie and we are most touched by the desire for freedom of Sir William Wallace on the last scene of his execution ,in which William’s sky blue eyes were shone as bright as the sky ,a metaphor for the freedom which is hopeless but the determination was never abandoned in pursuit for it.However,one cannot stand the spiteful rebellion of the Scottish nobles and just imagine Wallace’s disbelief and shock when he got to know that the knight of Edward I,who is most

willing to kill him in the battlefield,is the one who is most likely to become the king of Scotland,the man who swore to stand alongside with Wallace from the majority of the Scotland’s aristocrats who suspected Wallace and kept looking down upon him.Wallace had presumed that he was his companion but the reality just showed the just opposite side of Wallce’s naïve dream and both the hero and the audience cannot bear this betrayal from the bottom of their heats.But Wallace still chose to believe,to tolerate and to take an adventure which led to his death and the end of this poetic struggle while meantime ,setting in motion another more intensive campaigns by those who carried on Wallace’s dream to realize the freedom of Scotland.Wallace’s death is like the ringing of the bell in the darkness of midnight,announcing that dawn should be cast upon the ones who never halt to pursue freedom sooner or later.The scene which showed Wallace’s calling for freedom,while the executor’s axe moving ,the clouds floating,the wicked king’s last breath and the judge’s disappointment out of expectation.“Every man dies, not every man really lives.”Wallce’s last words echoed in the midst of the air,despite the physical death and the passing of the decades of years.The real meaning of braveheart lies on that not only we do not dare to encounter the rivals and the unfair,but also the courage to tolerate,to resist the temptation to give up in despair ,to face the genuine aspect of ourselves.Trust,belief,struggle,determination,betrayal and of course ,the love epic ,are the images we can associate with this marvelous film and we cannot urge our passion to extol Wallace,our hatred for the wicked Edward I and those both mentally and physically delicate Scotland’s nobles.Given the fact that both these two nations are now sections of the United Kingdom, The film reminds us of the love for one’s own motherland the desire for freedom,which is the gifted nature since mankind was born with and we shall never be scared of any obstacles ,frustrations and sacrifices in our fight for freedom ,the goal generations of all classes,eras and races have been longing for and we shall never be in shortage of the courage to gain freedom

学号：2010211926 姓名：张旸/ Sherry 任课老师：杨畅 Loneliness , estrangement and innocence----movie review of the E.T the Extra-Terrestrial From the very beginning of the story, Spiellberg, the directer of the film, sprang up the film with sadness and blackness , similar name of loneliness and estrangement :the newly-divorced mother and ignored children the abandoned E.T in the black and terrible night the animals' cries in the forest.All of these scenes were going to show us something cold and indifferent , but only when it came to the end the truth finally came to light----only the innocence and Tongzhen could help us get out of loneliness and estrangement.Following the black scenes was the meet between E.T and tiny Elliott , the main character in the film.With fear and lack of safety , the E.T made friends with little Elliott and ended its hiding around life and starving days at length.But as the same thing goes , that we are cautious about our relationship at first and we are unsafe when we start our relationship because of lack of trust and belief , E.T and Elliott went through the same process as everyone else.As time went on , the relationship between E.T and children was in the better condition.What's more, with the help of children , E.T had acquired some English communication express and could talk with them sometimes.I was happy and took for granted that he would stay on the earth and be friends with these children for good.However, thing never went in this way.Desperate , E.T missed his family and wanted to go home heavily.Simultaneously , owing to the inner communication between E.T and Eillott , Eillott was the sole person who could understand E.T and try to help him as much as he could , thus Eillott was regarded freak because of lack of understanding from his peers and teachers.Therefor ,both of them were put into loneliness and estrangement.As they tried their best to get understood , children were clear of the situation and tried to help , but adults got involved and complicated all the plan.Fortunately , children gave E.T a hand and assisted him in coming back home.The film called of the abandoned innocence left behind.We are longing for the maturity and reasons in the world , but it is not necessary to live in that way all the time.Sometimes, we need our heart to live our life but not our brains.Only in this way can we move on and enjoy our life both rationally and emotionally.

Chinese immigrant, Da Tong, struggle to hold onto their American dream after the disaster comes to him.Da Tong’s father gives a simple Chinese Medicine therapy called Guasha to his grandson, that leaves bright red marks on the skin and the American doctor mistook it as child abuse behavior.And the Children Welfare Bureau started a lawsuit about the behavior of Dennis’ father and they took action to protect Dennis.In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son.I think this scene is shocking and thought-provoking to most of the Chinese audiences.And then this story is about how to clear the air and win his son back.The movie Guasha Treatment is designed to discuss the culture differences between China and America.In this movie, we can see culture shock everywhere.At the beginning of the movie, Da Tong insisted to make Dennis apologize to Paul because Dennis hits Paul.In order to make Dennis say sorry, Da Tong hits Dennis when everybody were there.He wants to show his respect for his boss while what his son do is to show his love to daddy.Da Tong gives his boy a light rap on the head when he refuses to apologize and the boy cries to his mother that the reason he hit his playmate was that the other boy called Da Tong stupid, one of many examples of doing the wrong thing to protect your family.This situation makes the American so confused.American would not hit their children in the public when their children do something wrong.Even they will give their children a chance to explain what happens.But in China, parents always hit their children in the public and make them feel sorry.Even not give them a chance to explain their action.Da Tong is the father who is trying to integrate his Chinese cultural beliefs into his daily American reality, especially when dealing with his son.His education is Chinese way while his wife Jenny wants to educate Dennis in American way.There is conflict within his family because grandfather can’t speak English and is exclude from many conversations because Jenny wants only English spoken in her home for the benefit of her American born son.Da Tong and his wife are very well educated and understand that their child's best chances for success in America, and for him not to experience the same troubles they've had during the past 8 years, are to speak without an accent.They even go so far as to insist the boy use a fork and knife instead of chopsticks, even when it's obvious they are still eating Chinese style food, served in the normal way: communal dishes for the food and smaller, individual rice bowls for each person.Mother seems a

bit inflexible in her insistence on being as American as possible, while Da Tong's cultural leanings are just as strongly Chinese, although not by conscious choice.The conflict arising from doing the wrong thing out of love or respect for one's family or closest friends continues throughout the movie, and every way Da Tong turns, he finds failure and encounters both obvious and subtle forms of anti-Chinese racism.Even Chinese folklore about the Monkey King(Sun Wu Kong), that Da Tong incorporates into a video game he designed is used to provoke his pride when he's vulnerable and fearing for the loss of his son.Da Tong is misunderstood by everyone, family, friend, and foe, even though he has only the best intentions, and he carries the responsibility quite heavily, making one wrong turn after another.Talking to the different cultures between the East and the West, I have to say American law does play an important role in protecting children.They have laws to force parents to take care of their children.To live their child in home alone, that is forbidden in American law while there is not such law in China.And in America, they have institutions such as Children Welfare Bureau to protect children and to deal with issues about children abuse.Well, in China we concern children not enough.Law are not comprehensive, society power is not enough too.But the most impressing scene in this movie to me is the ending.Datong wants to see his son in Christmas Eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives.I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture.He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed.Person in the United States, it is very difficult to blend into local culture.This is the cultural difference between nation and nation, Chinese people would not live in their own way outside his motherland.shows how a person's cultural beliefs are so deeply set within oneself that it is usually impossible to examine why you do most anything, from how you dress and talk to whom you love and respect and how you show it.The invisible nature of one's cultural beliefs also makes it difficult to impossible to explain yourself to others when questioned.How to avoid such tragedy of this kind of story? We must enhance the culture exchange and culture study.Only with respect and knowledge to different cultures, will it be possible to accept outside culture and avoid conflict.
