距离最后的考试只有近两个月的时间，最后的冲刺序幕正式拉开。英语复习到这个阶段，最重要的就是作文。要想在最后的考试成绩中脱颖而出，现阶段就必须要把精力放在分值占在30分的写作上。
考研英语中大作文的要求是内容切题、表达清楚、文字连贯、句式多变和语言规范。小作文考察点在信息点的覆盖、语言的准确性、文章组织的连贯性上。
其中小作文占10分，分为求职信、祝贺信、道歉信、询问信、推荐信、感谢信、邀请信、辞职信等等二十多种应用文。每个类别都有相对固定的语言模式，都有固定词语要求。
推荐信是写信人向收信人推荐某人做某事的信件。推荐信在西方国家是求职，求学的必备材料。写推荐信的人必须对被推荐者有一定的了解。最好有较深的资历，如被推荐者的原单位领导，本专业的专家等，名声越大越好。除了请别人推荐，也可以自荐。
写作“三步走”：
指出写信人和被推荐人的关系，及推荐的原因→概述被荐人的品质、能力、性格等→.总结说明被推荐人值得被推荐(例如能胜任工作)。
注意：
推荐信要多写优点，充分肯定成绩，篇幅不宜过长，但也不能三言两语过于简单。
范文解析：

考研英语作文历来就是一个容易被忽视的题型，往往都是在考研的冲刺阶段考生才开始准备。小作文的考察类型万学海文曾在2011年的考研冲刺阶段做过总结，一共二十多个类型，具体每个类型又是可以灵活运用的。
考研英语写作部分自2005年第一次引进应用文开始，一直延续到2011年，每年考试小作文占的分值都是10分。主要考查学生撰写不同类型的包括私人和公务信件、摘要、工作报告、备忘录在内的应用文的能力。相信2012年写作还会延续对应用文的考查。下面万学海文的英语辅导老师将结合近七年的真题，逐年分析一下应用文考察的类型。
2005—2011小作文考察类型：
2005年：2005年应用文考的是一封辞职信(Letter of resignation)，情景是两个月前你得到了一份编辑工作，但是现在你发现这份工作和你预期的不一样，你决定辞职，写一封信给老板，说明理由，并且道歉。
2006年：2006年应用文考的是申请信(Letter of application)。情景是你希望为参与希望工程，资助一个偏远地区的儿童。要求给有关部门写申请信请他们帮助找到一个需要帮助的人。内容看似“俗”，但命题却出乎意料。
2007年：2007年应用文考查的是公务信函建议信(Letter of suggestion),情景是给图书馆写信提出改善服务的建议。
2008年：2008年应用文考的一封给友人的私人信件(Personal letter)。具体情景是误拿友人CD需要归还。但是题目要求还是道歉和建议方面。
2009年：2009年的应用文考察的是公务信件建议信(Letter of suggestion)。情景是给当地媒体编辑写信，阐明对于以前治理白色垃圾措施的观点以及自己的建议。
2010年：2010年应用文考查了通知或告示(Notice)。情景是发出招募国际化会议志愿者的告示。
2011年：2011年应用文考的是一封给友人的私人信件(Personal letter)。具体情景是给为好友推荐一部自己喜欢的电影，并说明理由。但是题目要求主要是推荐方面。
2011小作文类型“不按套路出牌”
从形式上来看，2005-2009年考查的都是公务信件，从功能上来看，多为道歉、建议等交际功能。而自2010年开始，考查了告示这一新的形式。2011年意料之中也是意料之外地考查了信函。意料之中的是，这明显是一种反压题的现象，考试命题人有意而为之。意料之外的是，在各大机构纷纷预测未来还会不断出现新的应用文形式，而不再仅仅囿于信件这一种形式，而命题组再次搬出了信函写作。可见，信件最能体现万变不离其宗的一种考查形式，大家仍然要把其作为重点来复习，并且要拓宽其类型到祝贺信、求职信等。同时要多多体会请帖、邀请函、便条、注意事项、告示、通知、摘要写作等多种应用文的格式。并通过范文来体会其语域特点。
值得注意的是，近几年考研应用文考题和大学英语四级写作真题的关联性。2009年1月考研应用文真题源于2008年12月四级真题“Limiting the Use of Disposable Plastic Bags”。而2010年的考研应用文题目也是与2006年6月四级写作真题不谋而合。因此万学海文建议同学们有必要了解一下近几年四级考试应用文题目，可以作为平时模拟练习的内容。
