A.文法上

1.切忌主客不分或模糊.例子: Deciding to rescind the earlier estimate, our report was updated to include $40,000 for new equipment.” 应改为 Deciding to rescind our earlier estimate, we have updated our report to include $40,000 for new equipment.(We决定呀, 不是report.)

2.句子不要凌碎.例子: He decided not to audit the last ten contracts.Because of our previous objections about compliance.应该连在一起.3.结构对称,令人容易理解.例子: The owner questioned the occupant's lease intentions and the fact that the contract had been altered with ink markings.应改为: The owner questioned the occupant's lease intentions and ink alterations of the contract.4.单众数不要搞乱,不然会好刺眼,看不舒服.例如: An authorized person must show that they have security clearance.5.动词主词要呼应.想想这两个分别: 1.This is one of the public-relations functions that is underbudgeted.2.This is one of the public-relations functions, which are underbudgeted.6.时态和语气不要转变太多.看商务英语已经是苦事,不要浪费人家的精力啊.7.标点要准确.例如: He did not make repairs, however, he continued to monitor the equipment.改为: He did not make repairs;however, he continued to monitor the equipment.8.选词正确.好像affect和effect, operative和operational等等就要弄清楚才好用啦.9.拼字正确.有电脑拼字检查功能后,就更加不能偷懒.10.大小写要注意.非必要不要整个字都是大写,除非要骂人,:,例如: MUST change to OS immediately.外国人就觉得不礼貌和喝令人一样.要强调的话,用底线,斜字,粗体就可以了.B.文体

1.可读性.对象是大学程度的话,用高中的英文就行,不要以为人人都是语言大师.多用短句(15-20字吧), 技术性的字,就更加要简单易明.2.注意段落的开头.一般来说,重要或强调的事情都放在信件或段落的开头,而句子就放在最尾.例如:

1.Because he was unable to attend the meeting personally, he forwarded his congratulations on cassette tape.2.He forwarded his congratulations on cassette tape because he was unable to attend the meeting personally.两者强调的事情就有分别了.3.轻重有分.同等重要的用and来连接,较轻放在次要的句子里.4.意思转接词要留神.例如: but(相反), therefore(结论), also(增添), for example(阐明).分不清furthermore和moreover就不要用啦.5.句子开头不要含糊不清的主词.例子: These decisions have been a big disappointment to the committee members.They have delayed further action.They是指什么呀开头少用this, that, it, they, 或 which.6.修饰词的位置要小心,例如: He could only reimburse the cost after July 15.应为 He could reimburse the cost only after July 15.7.用语要肯定准确.切忌含糊.例如:The figures show a significant increase.” 怎样significant呀,大哥? 改为: The figures show an increase of 19%.8.立场观点一致.少用被动语.例如: Partial data should be submitted by April.改为: You should submit partial data by April.就很好了.C.格调

1.式样和句子长度不要太单调.千篇一律的subject-verb-object会闷死人的.有时短句跟着长句可以化解一下.2.弱软的词(e.g.was, were, is, are...)可以加强一点.例如: Prunton products are highly effective in...改为: Prunton products excel in...就有力很多了.3.亲切,口语化是比较受欢迎!用宾词和主动的词,让人家受落.例如: 1.This information will be sincerely appreciated.” 2.We sincerely appreciate your information.明显地,我们会喜欢第2句.第一课

以上还是感谢信的一种，里面有很多熟悉的用法，只是针对不通场合有不通的感谢方法。表面上看这些感谢信都非常简单，但是要写的精干高效，也确实不容易。

还是一封感谢信，主要用于对出席人的感谢，其中有几个表达方式比较特别

7。I would very much appreciate being afforded the chance to reciprocate the courtesy at some appropriate time.注这句英文思维的方式和中国人刚好是反的，中国人会这么说：如果在合适的时机我有机会回报此番盛情，我将非常荣幸。大家注意一下，中国人说话先绕弯子，然后再点题，而老外直接说I would very much appreciate，然后是being afforded the chance to reciprocate the courtesy at some appropriate time，也就是先点题，我什么荣幸，然后再说原因，为了什么荣幸！再注意句中的分词被动语态being afforded的用法也能体会到英语的味道，中国人很少说被给机会去干什么，这就是中国英语和英国英语的区别之处

4。be highly regarded:注意这个用法，我的本地员工也经常用这个短语，就是一种恭维，就是中国人说的什么什么受到了高度评价，英语里面用被动形式，仔细看看本为中Your ability to maintain sales despite the negative factors affecting our business...这个主语比较长，去掉修饰就是 Your ability is highly regarded.贵方（修饰）能力是高度赞赏的。这个结构大家可多用，具体修饰不讲了，自己根据自己的情况可以扩充。

5。We have also had our troubles.开始说自己的困难了，用了现在完成时态，个人理解是要表达我方的困难不是现在才有，是很久之前就有困难。然后紧接着展开具体困难

6。Every effort has been made to absorb this drop in revenue through cost reduction measures.这个结构也值得大家体会英语的味道，我们总喜欢说，我们采取了什么什么措施...我们喜欢用主动的语态，但是老外强调这些措施被采取，总是喜欢用被动语态，大家体会下。另外注意一下absorb这个词，引申为承担的意思。

7。it has become impossible to unilaterally adsorb these losses.如果按照我的思维，我可能这么说 We haven’t unilaterally adsorb these losses。但是这样看起来就非常主观，并且语气非常强硬，老外把可观的事实作为主语用 it引导的主语从句来表达，就显得很客观了，我没有学过什么经贸英语，就是自己瞎体会。

8。accross the board:全面的，一律的9。We realize this will not make your situation easier.Howevre...这个也是个比较好用的东西，我方意识到...并不能使你方情况变得轻松，昨天我在给我的客户的邮件里面用了类似的表达：I am aware, Mr.Joshua, that this explanation might not put your mind at easy.这种谦逊的做法，在协商信件里很好用，能争得对方的谅解，然后however或者but一下，话锋一转，开始提出解决问题的办法或者建议了，让对方考虑接受。具体内容大家自己看。说一个短语to share and not shift the entire burden：是分担困难，而不是推卸责任。注意shift

10。Your understanding and cooperation in this regard will be very much appreciated.我觉得regard这个词很有味道，我们的本地员工常用，这个管用结束语，大家记住就OK了，至于那个in this regard我就当个套话，也不住掉什么具体意思，我理解为，在这方面。。整句意思是，我方对贵方的理解和配合表示感激，老外还是用被动，不用主动方，呵呵，学者别人写就OK了

很多mail都是工作相关的，还不好摆上来，其实我们公司平时写信还没有那么文邹邹的，都是一些白话，希望更能帮助大家吧。

1。As discussed with you：代表已经和你讨论过了，就好像我们平时说的和你提过的那个。

2。enclosed:楼主说过了，这边看习惯，有人喜欢说enclosed，有人喜欢说attached

3。the fault report.....which I generated....:最简单的定语从句，主要想说一下generate report，生成报告，出一份报告。

4。specially:强调一下，有时候也说highlighted,表示强调。

5。remedial action:补救措施，有时候也说try to make up for my carelessness.6.facing problem:多简单啊，面对问题：）

7。rectification:也是一些修改的意思，很多时候老外写信就讲究用词不重复，一封信同一个意思的词语很少有重复的。比如他们说一个困难的东西，从difficult ,hard ,tough ,到complicated,time-consuming,反正好多不重样的。这个就需要平时多积累一点。

8。结尾一般都是best regards,写信的格式，不过我们公司一般很多人都是做的signature,基本都是Thanks&Regards!

第7课】

再继续一个协商方面的邮件。本次的重点是尽管对方的行为对目前的形势不利，但是考虑到长远利益，还是接收了对方的行为，并就此表达了己方意见，和由此带来的后果。We have reluctantly decided to accept your proposel to raise the price of the AK-7C and AK-7CX micro-processors by 8% effective June 1.Please understand that the increase at this time cannot help but depress sale considerably.It will also hurt our image with our customers, who may just choose to switch suppliers.Nevertheless, rest assured that every effort will be made to minimize the damage.【注释】

1。这种邮件先给出结论，同意还是不同意。然后马上表达对方的行为可能产生的影响，以表达己方意见，最后从长远利益正视问题，给出明确的态度。

2。have reluctantly decided to 勉强决定，很不情愿接受，现在完成时表示在做出决定前花了相当长时间

3。your proposal：你方提案，对于单方面的提议，建议，提案都用proposal这个词

4。注意一个用法,effective+（日期）从什么日期生效，上一课也有这个用法，没有讲到，今天点一下

5。Please understand that...要求理解的句式，这个句子表达出来的语气还算客观，不具生气的语气，但是可以引出己方的意见。

6。the increase at this time cannot help but depress sales considerably，此刻提价对销售没有任何帮助，只能产生不良影响。depress sales 对销售产生不良影响，depress 这个词比较有意思，值得注意；considerably=substantially，相当的，非常的。

7。hurt our image with our customers，hurt our image with...损坏...对我们的形象

8。may just choose to switch suppliers，体会一下just的意思，表示一种立刻马上的意思

9。Nevertheless,尽管如此

10。rest assured that every effort will be made to minimize the damage.有意思的来了，rest assured 居然是请放心的意思，怎么从字面上也看不出请放心这个意思，你说老外写的这么简单，你能看懂吗，呵呵。另外，every effort will be made to minimize the damage.又是个被动用法，只强调我方努力这个客观事实！以后大家记住了，就这么用！不要说我们怎么怎么努力了，而是我方的努力将被怎么怎么。。呵呵

第四篇：英文日期写法

英文日期分英式和美式,举例如下:

1)8th march,XX 或8 march,XX（英式）

2)march 8th,XX 或march 8,XX（美式）

日期写法宜遵从下列规则：

1)年份必须完全写明，不可用"04代替XX;

2)月份必须用英文拼出或采用公认的简写，即 january(jan.),february(feb.),march(mar.),april(apr.),may,june,july,august(aug.),september

(sept.),october(oct.),november(nov.),december(dec.);

3)日期可用序数词，如：1st,2nd,3rd,4th,...；也可用基数词，如：1，2，3，4，...。但美式大多采用后者；

4)在年份和月日之间必须用逗号隔开；

5)日期不可全部采用如7.12.XX或7/12/XX的阿拉伯数字书写，否则会引起误解。因为英美在这方面的习惯用法不同。按美国人习惯，上述日期为XX年7月12日，而按英国习惯则是XX年12月7日。

So this time, I force myself to think, to really think about my life, my present life.People say university life is one of the most important periods in one‟s life.It matters a lot in deciding one‟s character, friends circle, career and even family.To compare it with my past 20 years of life, I have to admit that university life is really great!One the one hand, I am set free from the tyranny of the pressure about study.I came to realize that there are more things about life, about people and about myself.I can decide what to do and what I don‟t have to do to some degree;on the other hand, I gradually form my own way of living, my own perspective and my attitude about life.So surely I won‟t complain about the boring day.At lease recently I am still indulging in the pleasure of university life.However, time will not stay at this point forever.One day, I will graduate, I will work;I will be old, old enough to be fed up with my life.A traveler is travelling.He has no idea about his destination, nor would he come to think of it.Just as the traveler admitted, he just had to start and he started.The plain man is tagger and deeply affronted by the illogical absurdity of human nature.The plain man knows that he will go to Timbuctoo.But he doesn‟t know why he has to go there.The two people find each other‟s claim quite annoying, but finally they shake hands.This is a really interesting parable.The author tries to explain some assertion and inquiry about life.Since the turpitudes, fatuities and unreason in human nature are unavoidable, the sparkle of wisdom is thereby a bit obscure.So people are apt to forget the immediate end of existence in the means.No awareness of why is formed in people‟s minds.The reason seems to be no reason.Just as the author said, a remedy will be worth finding.In my opinion, the remedy is to find some goals.Just be peaceful and probe deep into your heart.Let your heart tell you what you really want.Wake up those beautiful dreams, those childish wished that has been forgotten long ago.Then, you may find your own meaning of living.Set up some goals, make little plans and adhere to them.The days will no longer be a grind.I remember that during my summer and winter vocations, I always feel dull and bored.I have no homework to do, no pressure for study, even no need to do the washing myself.I walk around aimlessly, having no plans for tomorrow.So after each vocation, I feel empty in my brain, and a sense of guilty in my heart.The misery of non-achievement outweighs the pleasure of relaxation.However, when the school begins, I come to live again.The delight of achievement can compensate some sense of guilty, so I feel my life full of vigor and appeal again.I think as for the frustration of the plain man is because he has lost the motivation to make progress.He has his job, wife and children.He exhausted himself for the whole life, goes his way ignoring all the interesting oases and experiences.The result is he get what he hoped, but lost his initial intention.I can imagine how he feels.Sometimes I also feel the same.But now, I think I become more aware of what I am doing and what I am supposed to do.Though we are all plain man, the only difference is the period of life.I am in my youth but he has reached the later part of his journey.So the sooner I realize the reason of a boring life, the more pleasure I will create for my future.There must be some days that you are confronted with an unusual succession of annoyance, exasperations and disappointments——you may feel something must be wrong——but it does happen.Even a trifle can bring about some explosion of pessimism, leaving you feel acid and savage.It must have happened to you before，as it is the same with anybody else, especially when you feel you cannot stop the succession of trifle.The payment of the future is to stultify daily one part of human nature.When you are limited into a certain sort of work and you can‟t quit, this feeling would come out.What would you do? As far as I am concerned, the only way is to find a compromise between the present and the future.When you are in such a bad mood, you must feel awful, seeing no happiness from your daily life.However, any problem of human conduce, however hard and apparently hopeless, could not be solved by dint of sagacity and ingenuity.The tyrannic routine seems endless, but everything will be the past, only if you are able to find a reason and solution.Never lose the capacity for pleasure.But how can we manage that? There is an ancient counsel:” know yourself.” It hears so trite, so ordinary.But it is really difficult to realize.The truth is, the rarity of is the root of unhappiness.Self-knowledge is particular required for the solution of the immediate case that mentioned above.I quite agree with the author at this point.Sometimes I tend to disguise myself with a mask, feeling a sin in not being interested in what interests others, and hoping that I can be liked by everybody.In fact, if you want to please everybody, you please nobody.It‟s only the tiredness that left in your heart.You tell yourself, that you are supposed to do some particular things, rather than with a spontaneous willingness.The true feeling is omitted.When I begin to feel unsatisfied with what I am doing, the succession of a mass will come out.So I have to get down to the trifle that I am dying to escape from.Suppose that I have always been doing what I like to do, being my real self, I may not be more positive when explosion of pessimism come out.See!Your inner feeling is the one that conducts your life!The story of the plain man never ends, „because the river of human nature never ends but keeps flowing.My reflection on it won‟t stop, too.This book is about the plain man, but the principle and argument isn‟t plain at all.It is worth everybody‟s reflection.Life itself is a kind of knowledge, only those who learn well can get the truth of it.I am a plain man, and it really arouses my interest to know more about myself.
