一、课程性质、地位和作用
《英语精读》是英语教育专业的专业基础课,也是英语教育专业的必修课程。属A类(理论)课程。本课程是一门综合英语技能课,其主要目的在于培养和提高学生综合运用英语的能力。该门课程是英语教育专业的主干课程,在本专业课程体系中居于重要地位。
二、课程教学对象、目的和要求
本课程适用于高等学校英语教育专业的专科学生。本课程主要通过语言基础训练与篇章讲解分析,使学生逐步提高语篇阅读理解能力,了解英语各种文体的表达方式和特点,扩大词汇量和熟悉英语常用句型,具备基本的口头与笔头表达能力。
学习本课程,学生是在已初步掌握一定的英语词汇、语音、语法基本知识和听、说、读、写基本技能的基础上进行的,目的是进一步提高综合运用英语的能力,特别是要加强口笔头语言表达能力,同时加深对词汇、语法、写作、修辞等方面的知识,为适应走向社会和进一步接受英语教育打下全面的牢固的基础。
本课程以课文教学为中心,采用精讲多练、讲练结合的方式,课堂教学注意归纳,演绎并用,以归纳为主,演绎为辅。讲课中注意知识的层层递进,具有连续性,语言点突出,讲解清晰准确,通过典型例句解释语言现象。启发学生学习语言的积极性和自觉性,鼓励学生开动脑筋,大胆地以各种表述来表达同一个语句,锻炼学生用英语思维的能力。

学习本课程前的相关课程包括:初高中基础知识(基本语法,2100左右的词汇量)学好本课程,能为学生其它专业课的学习打下良好的基础。
