英语四级考试的写作策略

新题型英语四级考试要求学生在30分钟内写出120—150词的短文或者日常应用文（如信函、简历等）。笔者根据近几年的大学英语四级考试的考纲和评分标准认为，学生的英语写作是有规律可循的，采用正确的训练教学策略，能够帮助学生解决所遇到的问题，提高他们的写作技能水平。这就要求教师能够以“文章切题，条理清楚，语言准确”等作为训练的依据，激活学生写作的内驱动力。

1.学生英语写作中存在的不足

1.1文章缺少一定的整体连贯思维。

大学英语写作一般都提供一些引导句和核心提示点。对此，很多学生认为这就是写作的关键句，只要照着这样的提示进行直译式的写作就一定能够得到较好的分数。其实这样的写法只是语句的翻译拼凑，缺少一定的内部思维，也就难以凸显文章应有的连贯性了。

1.2文章内容平淡。

“文似看山不喜平”，英语更是如此，文章内容除了来自写作的核心提示外，还应该穿插一些与此相关的名言警句和俗语俚语。这样的写作方式，不仅能够体现西方人语言幽默的特点，还能够比较直观地展示作者的写作知识素养。学生往往在这方面的能力有所欠缺。

1.3文章句式变换不够灵活。

英语写作需要一定的时态、从句、虚拟语气等众多句式组合而成。学生在写作过程中受自身的知识和时间等方面的影响，在句式变化上未能深入地思考，以致出现行文呆板、不够灵活等特征，难以真正达到四级考试写作方面的标准要求。

2.解决上述问题的策略

2.1审题列提纲，注意理清文章的脉络。

在英语四级考试中，审题是核心。一般在四级考试中，作文都给出了简短的中文提纲，写作时一定要按提纲的要求写，提纲叫怎么写，就怎么写。我们要把提纲看成是几个简答题，一个题目用一个段落来回答，这样，作文就会段落清楚，有明显的开头、主体和结论部分。写的过程中也不会为分段大伤脑筋，更不会像记流水帐一样一段到底，从而给阅卷老师留下很好的印象。同时在文章写作过程中，一定要学会使用一些句子之间，以及引起和结束文章时候的连接词，这样可以使文章更自然、流畅。

例如，我们以2006年12月试题为例讲述如何审题和列提纲。Directions：For this part，you are allowed 30 minutes to writea short essay entitled Spring Festival Gala on CCTV.You shouldwrite at least 120 words following the outline given below：许多人喜欢在除夕观看春节晚会；有些人提出取消春节晚会；我的看法。上述材料信息告诉我们，在审题时一定要抓住“春晚”这个文眼，认真地进行谋篇布局。同时，在列提纲时，应该列出喜欢看春晚的理由、取消的原因，以及自己的观点。特别是作者的观点应该体现出全面性和独特性，这是获得高分的关键之处。

2.2制造语言亮点，彰显文章特色。

我们在阅读经典文章时发现，一篇优秀的文章往往离不开一些语言亮点的支撑。这些语言亮点其实就是文章的血液，突出了文章的亮点，也就是展现了作者的写作基本功。

笔者以为，可按照文章类型制造语言亮点。四级作文一般有下面三种结构：说明文、议论文和应用文写作。说明文主要可以分为阐述主题类型、利弊类型、原因结果类型、解决问题类型及谚语说明类型；议论文主要是就观点进行反驳类型的；应用文写作主要包括演讲词、求职求学信、邀请信、感谢信和投诉信等。在每一种类型中写上一两句亮点语言，定会有意想不到的收获。

2.3背诵一些写作套路句，以便应急。

很多的考试专家在总结考试的经验时，往往将一些现成的别人的经验作为应付考试的一种方法。笔者在教学实践中也认为这样的方法有可借鉴之处，一方面，能够减少因思考不充分而带来的“虎头蛇尾”的尴尬结局，另一方面，能够节省写作时间。

这些写作套路主要有： ①观点句：Some people take it forgranted that...However，others hold that...As for as I am concerned，that I am in favor for the second view.②优缺点句：Generally，the advantages can be listed as follows.Firstly...Besides...Mostimportant of all...But every coin has tow sides.The negative aspectsare else apparent.③开头句： Recently，the problem of...hasaroused people’s concern.It is commonly believed that.../It is acommon belief that...④结尾句：Taking into account all these factors，we may reasonably come to the conclusion that...3.英语写作的几点思考

3.1注意平时词汇的积累。

在学习的过程中，一定要养成记忆单词的良好习惯。记单词不能光记它的表面意思，而应深入了解它的适用语境、常用搭配、习惯用法等，这样才算真正掌握了一个词。

3.2注意背诵一些精彩的名言名句。

笔者以为，对一些精彩的句子应摘抄下来，熟读成诵，并有意识地将它们应用到自己的习作中，以体现自身的英语知识素养。

3.3注意一些修辞的恰当运用。

在写作过程中，运用一些像比喻、夸张等修辞手法，不仅能够使文章倍感生动形象，还能够体现出“中西合璧”的特色。综上所言，在英语四级考试中，按照考纲的写作要求，注意写作过程和方法的训练，围绕写作重点，掌握规律性，突出规范性，强化长期性，就一定能够帮助学生提高写作的技能。

一.四级考试对写作的要求

《大学英语教学大纲》和《大学英语课程教学基本要求》都对培养学生的英语写作能力做了明确规定，即学生能在半小时内完成120字左右的短文，包括书信等应用问题写作，要求文理基本通顺，表达思想清楚，无重大语法错误。通过分析历年的真题，我们不难发现：英语作文考查的类型基本包括议论文(一般为三段论式的论说文字)，说明文(目前侧重于这方面的写作训练)，图表作文(要求描述性的语言要贴近图表信息，真实反映语言水平)和应用文写作(包括书信、便条、通知、海报等)。

二.四级改革和写作变化

2005年1月的作文题目是要求学生以导游的身份写一篇演讲稿，不仅包含欢迎辞(表态)行程安排，(说明)，而且包含安排的理由(说理)。2005年6月作文题目是校园文化旅游，要求学生就此阐述不同的观点。2006年1月是个竞选演说，如果我当选学生会主席，我会给大家做点什么事情(说明)。2006年6月17日的四级考试则是一个海报，要求考生构想一个招募志愿者的海报，其中包括应聘人必备的资历和应准备的材料等(说明)。2006年6月24日新题型的作文是传统的议论文形式，讨论大学生选择任课老师相关的问题。2007年1月作文也是传统的议论文形式，探讨对春节晚会所持的不同观点。2007年6月份是欢迎同学加入俱乐部的海报(应用文)。

从上面的题目变化趋势看，描述现象、分析原因、个人看法仍是四、六级考试写作部分主要考查的重点，在今后相当长的时间内，英语写作教学和辅导的主要突破口应集中在说明文、议论文和应用文上。

此外，仔细研究06年6月24日以后的四级试卷，我们还可发现，新四级的写作题目与校园生活密切相关，学生普遍感觉亲切，体裁包括两篇议论文，一篇应用文。不仅如此，新四级写作题中提供的文章框架清晰，思路比较明确，绝大多数考生都能利用“经典句型”或“万能模板”写出及格的作文。尽管新四级前两次都考查了议论文，但这并不能说明写作的重心有任何偏移。根据考试改革方案和课程教学要求的相关规定，应用文写作、说明文和议论文仍将是新四级作文的主攻方向。

三.四级写作高分策略

新四级考试并没有改变对写作的测试标准和要求，但在出题顺序上却做了明显的调整：写作作为第一项考查的内容，被提到新四级试卷的最开头，这令许多考生感觉不适应，部分网友甚至认为这是在折腾考生。其实，提高写作能力虽然较难，但写作教学却是一片大有可为的沃土。在过去十多年的英语写作辅导中，笔者坚持认为：考生如果坚持做到如下几点，就不难在规定的时间内写出一篇成功的英语作文。

1.了解英语写作的测试目的，准确把握题目的要求

英语写作测试，其实主要还是要考查学生组织英语语言的能力，和用英语表达思想的能力，体裁不外乎议论文，说明文和应用文，主题也是在大学生熟知话题基础上的翻新或扩展。综观历年的四级作文真题，变化趋势是从三段论的议论文向实用性更强的应用文体，尤其是书信写作方面倾斜。考生平时应有意识地就他们感兴趣的一些话题进行思考和拓展，争取在实践中磨练敏锐的审题能力。

2.迅速梳理写作的思路，列出并借助提纲进行写作

到了大学阶段，学生还是非常善于思考的，他们不仅想象力非常丰富，晚上做梦，还经常daydream, 各有独特的思维和写作思路。但是，如何将千头万绪的思路梳理清楚，学生则必须有真工夫。为此，在进行四级写作时，考生一定要首先形成自己的观点，之后合理运用一些手段，如常用的有四种：陈述理由、举例说明、提供数据、下定义等，之后充分就此展开论说。这样通过高效思考，严密组织，再辅以提纲形式的文章架构，考生一定会写出较符合规范的文章。

3.扩展写作提纲，草拟文稿，表述主要观点

在利用提纲展示个人写作思路的基础上，学生还应充分利用现有的英语水平，按照一定的逻辑思路，充分表达个人的观点。写作之初，学生不必字斟句酌，只要脉络清楚，具备轮廓就可以了。草拟文章的过程实际是把思维结果外在化的过程，学生应力争使文章具有连贯性和流畅性。草拟过程的顺利与否，在很大程度上取决于平时训练所达到的水平。许多考生畏惧作文，经常懒于动笔；还有一些考生认为写作很难提高，干脆放弃平时的训练。这些想法都是错误的。为真正提高写作水平，笔者建议大家从开始准备四级的那天起，就应有针对性地分体裁、分话题、分阶段地进行实战模拟，强迫自己一气呵成将文章写完，不必追求完美，不必在乎自己的文稿到底语言有多么不地道或出现多少语法错误。熟能生巧。只要坚持多写、多练，平时注意扩大阅读，写作的水平自然就会提高。

4.在反复揣摩的基础上，完善文章的草稿

自己修改作文是个好习惯，从训练之初就应注重在这个方面下功夫。修改作文必须从下面几个方面把握：注意句式结构的变化(要背诵一定的经典句型，而且要能够注意套改这样的优美句型)。例如：Not because I love Caesar less, but because I love Rome more(不是我不爱凯撒，而是我更爱罗马)。需要指出的是，虽然习作中应注意使用优美或地道的句子，但不可简单地堆砌；句子长短也要错落有致，应包含一些相对复杂的句式，同时避免犯一些基础性的语言错误。

另外，学生还要注意文中运用的英语表达必须是简单且地道的(即easy but right

English)。实际上，所谓这类的表达法界于词汇与句子之间，可称为语汇(英语中可用chunk来表达)。为了提高书面语言表达的地道性，学生应经常记忆这样的语汇，如an effective

system for environmental protection和an effective system to protect the

environment等。笔者在此处提出这个概念，且希望同学们加强这方面语汇的记忆，是因为太多的中国考生经常使用汉语的语法、英语的单词来组合一些中式(chinglish)表达。例如：高手(high hand)地道的英语表达是master hand;老手(old hand)地道的英语表达则是

seasoned hand；能手(can hand)的地道表达则是skillful hand, 以及you go me go, you no go me no go 等。

至于如何做到语言表达地道，笔者认为只有一种办法，那就是大量阅读，分类摘抄，在具体的语境中有针对性地体验英语表达。

5.正确把握遣词造句的原则

正确选择词汇非常重要，考生切不可盲目地追求大词、生词。其实，四级作文要求考生选词范围尽可能灵活宽泛，但非常忌讳以辞害义，如果能够用decrease，就别用plummet(也是下降的意思)。那么考生到底怎样才能利用有限的词汇资源，写出比较鲜活的英语作文呢？笔者在此推荐如下使用词汇技巧：

(1)尽量使用同义词避免简单重复

如“增加”可用 increase, rise, grow, climb, go up, soar等；“重要”可用 important, critical, vital, significant, crucial等。

(2)尽量使用词性变化来丰富自己的表达手段

和汉语一样，变化词性也是丰富英语表达的重要途径，是学习者提高英语水平的重要标志。英语学习者如果能够用to voice some different opinions 来替代to give/express some different opinions;或to double/triple 来表示翻倍或增加三倍则会使文章在表达上更为形象而生动。

(3)尽量使用派生形式来点缀文章亮点

英语的构词特点就是使用前缀、后缀来完成灵活多变的语言特色。例如，it is of great importance／help/use/significance 来替代 it is very

important/significant/helpful/useful 本身就是英语水平的一个综合展示。另外，考生作文如果能够出现not unnecessary/not unimportant 来表达非常重要或者必要，则更能显示考生的英语功底。

6.灵活运用句式变化的规则

前面也提过，四级作文长度要求不少于120个词，按考生作文句子的平均长度11个词估算，一般需要10—12 个句子。在四级作文评分标准里，对于句子长度虽然没有具体描述和量化给分，但是阅卷老师一般都会给文章里使用正确的长句子加上印象分，也会给错落有致的句式变化以奖励分数，如果考生能够在作文中恰当地使用一定难度的复杂句子，则更能起到锦上添花的作用。在写作训练中，考生其实可以欣赏范文，摘录名句，改装结构，模仿使用，直到熟练运用。笔者认为只要努力，下面的策略可以帮助立志争取作文高分的学生可以通过下面的几个措施来提高作文水平。

(1)欣赏范文，但不要囫囵吞枣式地整篇背诵。准备一个写作专用的笔记本，从范文欣赏中摘抄自己喜欢的、老师讲评的、值得推荐的句式结构。比如：I love you not because who you are, but because who I am when I am with you.(我爱你，并不是因为你是谁，而是因为我跟你在一起时的感觉。)Few People today, if any at all, would risk their lives

(2)模仿名句，但不要生搬硬套。准备足够的草稿纸，把自己摘抄来的名句，(如有不懂，应当向明白人求教)拆卸八块，然后重新组合，如是反复数次，直到熟练，甚至于可以自如组装，灵活运用。比如：上面的句子学生就可以在熟练掌握的基础上分别演绎出：I suggest that you choose English as your major not because it is easier to learn, but because it is promising when you take better prospect of employment into account.(我建议你选择英语专业，并不是因为她学起来更容易，而是因为她更有前景，如果你考虑到更好的就业机会。)；Most of the students, if not all, are likely to be absorbed in PC games such as counterstrike, which is more frequently known as CS(大多数学生，如果不是所有的学生，很可能被诸如反击这样的电脑游戏所吸引，这种游戏经常被更多的人叫做CS。).(3)巧用心思，套用经典句型。鼓起勇气，说出自己想说的话，如果是母语，可能还好办，换成英语，大家最怕的是出错，出错扣分当然不好。但是利用经典句型组装一些长句子、靓句子和复杂句子对作文高分非常有帮助。比如作文开头常用句型：It is undoubted that …;there is no doubt that…;undoubtedly, there is…;It is beyond doubt that ….(4)写作是学生英语运用水平的具体体现，写作的功夫又是通过阅读、欣赏、模仿等具体手段训练出来的。写作过程中间很多实用技巧，需要读者舍得花时间、花精力、花心思去挖掘、去发现，只要你定期阅读我们的辅导专栏，相信你一定会收获N多的惊喜。
