市场营销一词有英文‘MAKETING’而来,上世纪初源于美国,他体现着一种全新的现代经营思想,其核心是以消费者需求为导向,消费者或客户需求什么就生产销售什么。这是一种有外向内的思维方式,与传统的那种以现在产品吸引、寻找顾客的由内向外的思维方式恰恰相反。
在某种意义上讲,谈论市场营销应该为公司做些什么,就是在谈论公司该持有什么样的最终目标和战略目的。世界超一流学府-哈佛商学院的MBA课程把市场营销部门比做公司这艘航船的指示灯,它应该在机会到来时指示公司这艘航船顺风远航;在毁灭性灾难到来时指示它驶入辟风港湾,并在航行时随时顺着风向不断调整航向,以求获得最大航行速度。
从公司角度讲,市场营销的职能就是保证客户和消费者成为企业的中心环节。
其另一职能便是指导企业决策。
围绕市场营销的一个永恒的困惑就是:它总是不遗余力的强调公司战略方向的重要性,而实际上并没有那么大权利,所以实际情况中市场营销部门总是处于和公司其他部门的争吵中,力图证明自己有独特东西贡献给公司。那么这种东西到底是什么呢?从实践角度看,我们可以这样说:市场营销确保公司的竞争优势,并使公司永远立于不败之地。
企业的决策正确与否是成败的关键。企业要谋得生存和发展,很重要的是做好经营决策。企业通过市场营销活动分析外部环境的现状和发展趋势,结合自身的资源条件,指导企业在产品定价、分销、促销和服务等方面做出相应的科学的决策。
综上所述,市场营销对公司的贡献应在于:
1、确定客户和消费者的需求。
2、为本公司的产品和服务确立不同于竞争者的独特的市场定位。
3、持续不懈的推广本公司产品,使广大客户和消费者不但知道本公司的产品和服务的存在,还知道它的特点。
4、确保本公司销售渠道畅通无阻。
总之,从微观角度来看,市场营销是连结社会需求与企业反应的中间环节,是企业用来把消费者需求和市场机会变成有利可图的公司机会的一种省止有效的方法,也是企业战胜竞争对手的重要方法
真正意义上的营销,即市场营销(Marketing)。这个岗位又分成两种类型,一种叫前端营销(Filed Marketing),一种叫后端营销(Factory Marketing),两者的角色和定位都不同,所需要的素质和能力也不同。前端营销是在以销售和服务为核心的销售公司里,负责市场的开拓和推广,激发客户的需求,他们并不管产品是怎么制造出来的,只管把产品推广出去。当然,好的前端市场营销人员会及时将客户的需求反馈到后端营销中去,以帮助后端营销了解各个目标市场的动态和客户需求。而后端营销,是在以研发制造为核心的分部
里,负责对产品进行定义和研发的前期市场调查,即了解市场,了解竞争,了解目标客户,并根据市场、用户和竞争状况去完成新产品定义—一本完整描述产品特定的文件。没有这个产品定义,任何产品概念都不会进入研发阶段。”“换句话说,前端营销是帮助‘作战部队’的,后端营销是帮助‘兵工厂’的,前端和后端加起来才能形成一个完整的市场营销概念。”
理解了前端营销和后端营销的概念,就很容易解释两种不同的市场营销高官需要具备什么样的素质和能力。先看一下对前端市场总监有什么样的特殊要求。作为前端市场营销高管,其工作目标是协助销售团队完成销售任务,所以这一角色必须要有很强的服务意识,甘当配角。另外一个人物就是开发新市场,为销售部打前站,这样销售队伍完成了对一个地区、一个市场的收割之后,可以有新的地区、新的市场去经营。最后一个任务就是把我好市场动态,搜集市场用户、竞争等方面的有关信息,并总结出规律性的东西,为公司制定战略提供数据支持。
后端市场营销总监是一个企业能否以市场为导向的关键所在,因此后端市场营销总监担负着为前端源源不断提供好产品的艰巨任务。这里涉及两项工作:一是完成新产品定义,为研发人员开发产品奠定基础;二是对现有产品生命周期进行管理,什么产品何时上线,什么产品何时下线,产品如何定价,产品如何完善或改进,都是后端市场营销总监所关心的问题。
这是对市场营销的又一种解构方式。也是一种比较简单的解释方式,一个后台支持系统,一个前端冲锋陷阵;一个确保弹药精良,一个确保命中目标。这是以另一种简单的方式解释了营销以及企业怎样做营销,但的确并不适合大部分本土企业,而且,也需要相应专业人才支撑,这应该是一个大体系下的营销体系。前者相当于销售管理,后者相当于产品管理经理,但是忽略了品牌建设的职能和推动作用,也可能这是缘于惠普把市场营销与品牌建设分开部门负责的原因吧。我一直认为,一个完善的市场营销应该就是为建设品牌而服务的。
再来看看对所有营销变革和指挥系统——营销高管的职位和具体工作能力的描述。
从猎头公司的角度来说,我们通常将营销分成两个不同的领域,一个是销售,一个是市场。营销综合了这两个方面的能力。作为一个销售人员,比较重要的素质,应该是他需要有较高的忍耐力、克服困难的能力和进取心,以及在工作中解决问题的能力。此外还有一个重要的方面就是承受压力的能力,因为销售需要承受很大的压力。而我们将的做市场,涉及的素质包括对数字的敏感性、分析问题的能力,以及个人的创造性。
营销高管必须具备的技能与经验——首先是领导能力,包括计划能力、监督执行能力、整合资源能力、制度建设和文化建设能力。作为一个团队的领导者,必须能够为整个团队制订工作计划,并按照工作计划去监督执行,在实施计划的过程中及时解决各种问题,整合内部和外部资源,协调与其它职能部门的关系,完成本部门的目标任务。作为高管人员,还肩负着制度建设和文化建设的重任,要形成良好的工作氛围;靠制度而不是靠权威,靠能力而不是靠关系管理部下。其次是沟通能力,包括演讲能力,表达能力、交谈能力和写作能力。作为一名营销高管,每天都需要花费大量时间与部下沟通,与上司沟通,与同事沟通。作为公司战略设计的主导者,需要不断说服他人,希望大家能够达成共识,从而提高企业的组织智商。再次是教练能力,包括辅导部下的能力,激励部下的能力、授权与监督能力、团队建设的能力。作为一名高级管理人员,部下大多是中层管理人员。如何有效地激励中层管理人员既要发挥主观能动性,又要按照公司的规章制度办事,是高级管理人员的核心任务之一
