Useful sentences
1.Asking for a restaurant
Could you recommend a nice restaurant near here?

Where is the main area for restaurants?
Is there a Chinese restaurant around here?

Do you know of any restaurants open now?

2.Restaurant reservation
“订餐”在英文中有两种说法,即to book a table 和make a reservation.
Do I need a reservation?
I'd like to reserve a table for three. We are a group of six. We'll come around eight o'clock. How can I get there?
I'd like to reserve a table for two at seven tonight.I'm sorry. We have so many guests this evening. How long is the wait?
Nine o'clock should be O.K.What do you have for today's special?
We'd like a table with a view of garden. It's O.K.Your name, please. My name is Jessica Yang.Do you have a dress code?
Could the ladies wear formal dresses?
No jeans, please.3.Ordering meals

1.Do you like to go out eating?
有次我问老美出去吃东西怎么说,他回答说一般出去吃饭,他们只说go to eat , go out eating 或是eat out 而不会说go to dinner, go for lunch,也就是不需特地说中餐或是晚餐。 I just went out eating, I just went to dinner. 例如人家问你,“Where did you go?”你就可答说“Lunch.” 2.There is a Deli over there, do you like it?
3.What do you like to drink?
What do you like to drink? Can I get you something to drink? 所以如果有人问你,“Come on, have a drink with us.”
4.Are you ready to order or just a minute?
Are you ready to order or just a minute? Wait a few more minutes. OK.I'll be back.(好,那我等下再来。)5.Do you want to separate check?
We want to separate check。 Do you want to separate check?或是Do you want separate checks?
Dialogue 5 A: Oh, I’m starving.I’d like to try some real Chinese cuisine. What would you recommend, waiter?
B: Well, it depends. You see, there are eight famous Chinese cuisines:for instance, the Sichuan cuisine, and the Hunan cuisine. A: They are both spicy hot, I’ve heard.
B: That’s right. If you like hot dishes, you can try some. A: They might be too hot for me.
B: Then there’s the Cantonese cuisine and the Jiangsu cuisine. Most southerners like them.
A: What about any special Beijing dishes? B: There’s the Beijing roast duck.
A: Oh, yes.I’ve heard a lot about it.I’d like very much to try it.Where can I find it?
B: You can find it in most restaurants, but the best place is certainly Quanjude Restaurant. A: Is it near here?
B: Not too near but not too far either.A taxi will take you there in 15 minutes, if the traffic is not too bad, I mean.
A: Well, thank you for your information. But what is the name of that restaurant again?

linda: next, i’d like to know about your sales experience.linda:
steve: i’ve been in sales for seven years now, with two different companies.the first one was a small audio components manufacturer.i had been working there for three years, and during that period our sales increased by an average rate of 50% per year.at that time i was responsible for sales in the northwest region.after three years, i felt i was ready for a bigger challenge, so i switched to my present employer, a systems integration company.i am currently in charge of sales in the northeast region.steve:

linda: sounds good.everyone is talking about teams these days.can you describe your role as a member of a sales team?
steve: i see myself chiefly as an inspirer.sales can be quite competitive and some people in this field adopt a dog-eat-dog mentality.however, as a leader, i charge myself with making all units
within a company function as one single entity.to cite an example, in my last job, each representative handled a different region.instead of allowing successful initiatives to be hoarded by certain representatives, i developed a system for sharing those successful sales initiatives.soon the entire sales team started talking of their successes, not just to brag, but also to share.steve:
linda: if you are a leader in our company and in charge of a project, you will need to be able to work with a variety of people in the project team.let’s say that due to difference of opinions, the team is split into two camps at a meeting and the debate starts to get out of control.at this point, as a leader, what would you do to encourage constructive cooperation from both parties? if the two parties continue to disagree, what will you do then?
steve: first, i will listen to the point of views and reasons from both sides carefully and make my own judgment.if i side with one camp, i will offer facts and data to explain to the other side my thougt process.if my opinion differs from both sides, i will also give facts and data to support my third-party opinion.if an agreement still cannot be reached, i will hold onto my opinion but also encourage more reserved colleagues to voice their opinions while continuing to provide more data to support a solution.in short, my principle is that everything should be based on data and facts.and every colleague has the right to express his or her opinion.i will always try my best to reach a common ground that all members of the debate are comfortable standing on.if we cannot find this common ground, then i will ultimately make the final decision, as a leader.steve:

3. Nuts, 果仁,核,为复数时,意为“疯子”,He is nuts。 He went nuts and killed a guy. You are driving me nuts. a tough nut to crack,
4. How is everything?(还好吗?)I am just stuck in a rut, doing the same things every day.I wish I could do something different.(烦死了,每天都是干同样的活,我真想换个活法。)rut 日常的,每天都如此,get in a rut,日复一日,天天如此
5. I have totally sold out to your idea. If you are not careful enough, you will buy into his bad idea.
6. I am just ecstatic about going to visit you soon.
7. A dap and dip

Where did you get this food? It was yukky.
I cannot take it any more. I cannot stand him any longer.Don’t take it out on me! You have my word. Look, I have got going. 15 You talk crazy. I don’t mean to cross the line. “I don’t mean to cross the line, is she your new girl friend ?”Thank you for.....(the tea, andso on), and everything else. I won’t take that crap. I won’t buy that beef. Calm down.不要激动好不好?sick 恶心 you make me sick. People do sick things to young girls nowadays. He is sick.
