基础英语之口语！（转）会话策略
在会话的过程中，我们常常会碰到这样一种情况：自己在表达的过程中往往由于不知道某个单词而卡壳，导致交际不能正常进行下去。其实，会话的目的就是为了交际，只要把信息传达清楚，让会话顺利进行下去就达到目的了。所以，当你在会话时碰到这种不知某个单词或说不清的情况时，可以试着用下面的方法，肯定能让会话继续进行下去。
（一）释义法 口语练习或日常交往过程中，经常出现不知道如何表达、找不到恰当词的现象。遇到这种情况，可采用释义的办法进行表达。例如，你应邀参加一个英语晚会，晚会上你需要一个瓶塞钻（corkscrew），而恰巧你又不知道英语中相对应的单词，此时则可以采用释义法对瓶塞钻进行释义：the thing you open bottles with or a device used for pulling corks out of bottles.这种方法可以清楚地表达自己所要的物品，克服交际障碍，避免出现尴尬局面，因此是一种行之有效的会话技巧。
（二）迂回法 迂回法是一种常见的口语会话技巧。当学习者对某个发音感到困难，不知道或想不起某个句型或单词时，可借助迂回法来达到交际目的。例如，有人在与一位学英语的日本人交往时发现，他发[ai]这个音有困难，当他想说“He is a liar.(他是一个骗子。)”时，为了避开[ai]这个音，他选择了句子“He didn't tell the truth.(他没讲实话。)” 迂回表达法使学习者在遇到困难和障碍时，能够灵活应对，增强学习和运用英语的信心，极大地提高学习英语的兴趣。
（三）发问法 发问法指的是，当你遇到交际障碍时，可以通过向交际对方提问来获取你所要表达的意思。比如，中学课本中就有这么一则故事：一位法国学生到伦敦度假，他对英语了解甚少，有一天，他去参加科学博物馆，中午他又累又饿，来到了一家餐馆，他想要杯茶和几个鸡蛋，可是当服务员问他“Can I help you, sir?(先生，你要点什么？)”时，他回答说，“A cup of tea and …”他记不起“鸡蛋”该怎么说，这时他看到邻桌上有本杂志，封面是一幅公鸡的图画，他指着这幅画问侍者：
“What's the English for this?”
“What do you call a cock's wife?”这位学生又问。
“A hen, sir.” “And what do you call a hen's children?”
“Chicks, Sir.”
“And what do you call chicks before they're born?”
“Eggs, Sir.”
此时学生说：“Very well, bring me two eggs and a cup of tea, please.”
这个故事充分说明了提出问题在日常口语会话中的重要性。这位聪明的法国学生通过发问，一环接一环，环环紧扣，最终从对方口中得到了自己想表达的意思，从而完成了整个交际活动。
（四）替代法 当你不知道某一具体物品、生物、动物等的名称时，可使用此种物品、生物或动物等的总称或同义词。例如，用a kind of dog代替hound（猎狗），用a kind of ship代替yacht（游艇），a kind of vegetable代替Chinese cabbage（大白菜）等。另外，替代法也可在口语会话中借助某些句型或词组来完成，如： It has something in common with… It is(looks)similar to… It is(looks)like …等 借助这种方法，讲话人可以弥补交际缺陷，避免可能会出现的尴尬局面。
（五）含蓄表达法 当与他人交谈或探讨某一问题时，应尽量避免使用一些绝对化的、以偏概全的词句，如All politicians are corrupt.(所有政客都是腐败堕落的)。诚然，在现实生活中不乏一些贪赃舞弊、腐败堕落的政客，但是我们不能就此断言，所有的政治家都是腐败堕落的。因此，在遇到这种情况时，应使用一些非绝对化的词语，如a few, some, many, a great many等等。在日常口语会话中，人们为了保全面子或避免争执而经常使用一些含糊其辞的说法，如Maybe I am wrong, but…, Perhaps, Do you think…?
（六）描述法 在无法弄清对方谈话中所指物品为何物时，可以提出问题，请求对方进行描述。比如，描述人时可提问下列问题： What sex? What's his/her age? What about his appearance? What's he/she wearing? What about his/her character? What about his/her height? 描述物时，则可提问下列问题： What does it look like? What color/shape/size is it? How long/tall is it? What is it used for?
七）重复法 在会话过程中，当你没有听清或听不懂对方所讲内容时，可以酌情请求对方重复。例如，可以说：I beg your pardon? Pardon? Sorry, I can't follow you.What was the last word? Would you like to repeat it?
（八）总结法 总结法即听话人用一句或几句话概括总结一下讲话人所讲内容，以确认自己是否完全理解对方的意图。例如，可以用下列句式来总结： You mean…? So you are saying that…? If I've understood correctly… 运用这一技巧可使会话双方得到进一步沟通，从而更好地实现双方的交际意图。
（九）借助非言语手段 语言是人类最重要的交际工具，除此之外，在交际过程中人们为了弥补语言交际的不足或不便，往往采用非言语手段--形体语言（body language）来达到交际目的。例如，在西方日常交往中，尤其是在求职面试时，一个人缺乏眼对眼交流（eye-to-eye contact），往往被认为信心不足或不诚实。因此，只有不断地进行眼对眼交流，才能达到感情上的交融，达到交际目的。
在语言交际过程中，当讲话人希望强化言语内容，并把自己的情感直接传递给听话人时，往往自觉不自觉地使用形体语言。例如，讲话人要表示成功或胜利时，通常高举右手，食指和中指张开形成“V”（victory的缩写）字形；表示好运时，中指与食指交叉；表示困惑时，摊手耸肩；而当讲话人双手放在膝盖上，上身微微向前时，则表示随时准备结束谈话。由此可见，运用非言语手段所表现出来的微妙的情感远比干巴巴的语言所赋予的内涵丰富。语言交际主要作用于听觉，因而受到明显的时空限制，而空间限制则更为明显。当讲话人与听话人相隔很远，无法用语言表述其意思时，可借助手势语帮助理解讲话人意图。因此，从某种意义上讲，形体语言可以代替语言行为，独立完成信息传递任务。如，鼓掌表示欢迎、举手为礼、挥手送别等。总之，学习者学习语言进行交际时，如不了解目的语国家常用的手势语，即使他语言功底深厚，在交往时也很难准确地理解对方，把握对方所要表达的意思。
事实上，以上几种会话技巧不仅在外语学习中，而且在使用母语进行交谈过程中也广泛运用，因为它们可以弥补语言知识的缺陷，从而跨越语言障碍，使会话得以延续。
见面说什么？
和人见面首先必须先打招呼，用什么样的话开始呢？各国文化的不同造成了打招呼的话也不同。在国外，埃及人见面就说：你是怎么出汗的？海地人却在问：你是怎么站的？对于这些问候对我们中国人可能会感到十分奇怪。同样在中国，我们见面问：“你吃饭了吗？”，“你到哪儿去？”，“你来干什么？”，都是再平常不过的话。而对于英语国家的人来说他们也会觉得很奇怪，甚至不了解中国文化的英美人会因你的问话产生不满，因为连英国孩子都会认为这样的问题是瞎管别人的私事，我吃不吃饭，我来干什么，有必要告诉你吗？
所以我们必须学会native speakers 见面时是怎样打招呼的。
他们见面时最常用的话是：
Hi！喂！
Hello！喂！
How are you ？你好。
How are you doing ？ 最近怎么样？
初次见面可以说：
Glad to meet you here.很高兴见到你。
我们常常会听到对方说How do you do？
这时唯一正确的反应也是How do you do？
不要以为对方要问你什么，其实这只是一个问句式的问候语。如果你告诉对方哪儿痛哪儿不舒服就错了，我们不少人喜欢说 I'm fine, thank you.这是不符合习惯的。另外提一句，我们初次见面分手时喜欢说 Good-bye.你如果仔细注意的话，会发现Native speakers说Nice meeting you 或Nice to have met you.在学校和公司早晨见面大家打招呼时说：

如果你们以前曾经见过面，再次相见可以说：

在美国Long time no see.也是很流行的，据说这是中国留学生带到美国去的Chin-English,不过现在老美也这么说。如果你见到一个非常面熟的人又不敢确认那就不妨这样来说：

Excuse me, haven't we met somewhere before? 对不起，我们在哪儿见过面吗?
伦敦曾有雾都的称号，听起来浪漫，实则是工业革命的后遗症，有雾的天气给人们的生活带来不便，所以天气很使人们烦恼，这也就养成了英国人以天气扯开话题的习惯，在中国人看来以这样的话题开头显得没话找话说，但和英美人聊天时以这样的话开头却是万无一失的。

有时我们需要把自己的朋友介绍给别人认识，在一些重要的商务或会议的场合，你也许还有机会把你们的首席领导和会议主持人介绍给参加会议的所有人：

有时你会向另外一个人询问其它人的情况：

如果你觉得某个人特别值得交往就会说：
I'd like you to meet John Brown.我希望你认识约翰?布朗先生。
After you！
如果你是一位先生，那么你一定要学会必恭必敬地说这句“After you！”如果你是一位小姐，那么你听到这句“After you！”心里一定也是甜滋滋的。
“After you!”是一句形式上很简单的礼貌用语，相当于汉语的“您（你）先请！”。
既然学了就要尽量去用。那么什么情况你能用到这句话呢？比如：你大清早去上班，在公司门口，正巧碰到了general manager（总经理），“Good morning！”同时出于礼貌，你可能就要先走过去开门，这时你就可以说：“After you！”
再如，你陪同公司的client(客户)去一家five-star hotel（五星级酒店）吃饭，服务员为你们开了门，这时你就可以礼貌地对客户说：“After you！”
如果你是个学生，你也一样有机会说这句话。比如，哪天你上课马上就要迟到了，你正疾步走入教室，结果差点和要进门的老师撞上，你紧急刹住步伐，站稳后恭敬地对老师说：“After you！”那么也许老师一高兴，就不会责怪你迟到了。
英语中像这样的简单口语还有很多，像Lady first！You(go)first！这些都是非常口语化的用法。其实英语尤其是American English，用起来都是非常随便的，以后我们将多多介绍这些很口语化的东西。让你可以信手拈来，随学随用。
“Are you kidding?”“
“Are you joking?”这是口语中很熟的人间经常说的话。意思是“你在开玩笑吧？”
上个月你的一个哥们儿还和你抱怨，说他找不到自己心仪的女孩子。可是今天他却对你说：
“I'm going to marry next month.”
“Are you kidding？”（你惊讶地说。）
“No kidding！I'm serious.”（一脸诡秘）
经过一番调查，才知道，原来真的是“Fall in love at the first sight.”（一见钟情）。
于是你就高兴地对他说：
“Congratulations！”（恭喜恭喜！）
异想不到的事真是多！你的一个胆小且从来没离开过家的朋友有一天突然对你说：
“I'm going to Tibet！”
你瞠目结舌了半天，终于从嘴里蹦出来几个单词
“Are you kidding？”
“Tibet！！My god！”
世界上的事真是无奇不有，那么现在你既然学会了这句“Are you kidding？”，同时又会了“Are you joking？”、“My god！”这样表示惊讶的口语短句，那么以后对付“big surprise”，你一定就会从容不迫了。
No way！
你想让自己cool（酷）一点吗？那么我来教你一句话，保证让你酷毙了！那就是毫不留情拒绝别人的一句“No way！”（免谈！没门儿！）够无情吧。不过用的时候可要看看场合呀！
那什么时候你可以用这句“No way！”呢？如果你是个铁面无私的“清官”的话，哈哈，你可是有很多机会用这句话了。当有人试图贿赂（bribe）你的时候，你就可以斩钉截铁地对他们说：“No way！” 你的好朋友想哄你说出只有你一个人知道的小秘密，你不想轻易就告诉他，卖卖关子：“No way！Unless...”（免谈！除非„„）没准儿还可以趁机敲诈他一把呢！
如果你有个天生爱偷懒的小妹，整天缠着你帮她做这做那的。今天她又要让你帮她做作业，你可以说：“No way！You should do it yourself.”（这次免谈！家庭作业一定要自己做！）
上面这几种场合用这句“No way！”倒是满恰当的，但这句话可不能乱用呀！用不好会伤了和气的。因为这是一句比较生硬拒绝别人的话。那么委婉拒绝怎么说呢？“I'm afraid I can't.”、“I'm afraid...not...”（恐怕不行。）是不是婉转多了？所以可见英语口语中还是有很多

你想让自己更像一个native speaker吗？告诉你一个小秘密：其实native speaker讲英语时都不会去考虑grammar（语法），说出来都是极其口语化的句子，而且句子都比较短。其实你平时多观察观察身边的老外，就会发现这一点。
你看，当他们表示满意、赞成的时候，就会瞪大了眼睛，很夸张地对你说：“Oh, that's great！”这句“That's great！”是口语中最常用到的一句话，意思是“太棒了！棒极了！”。
英语口语中像这样表达情绪短句非常之多，再如：“Excellent！”、“Wonderful！”、“So cool！”（也就是我们常说的某某人真“酷”的酷）等等。
那么这句“That's great！”在你高兴的时候，就可以脱口而出了。比如，经过一翻苦战，公司首战告捷。经理宣布放假一周，集体去海边度假，你听了这个消息脱口而出：“That's great！”
你的一个好哥们儿暗恋已久的女孩终于答应和他一起出去了，当他兴奋地告诉你这个消息时，你很替他高兴，拍着他的肩膀说：“That's great！”、“Congratulations！”

I'm sick
隆冬时节，外面正是凛冽寒风，看着窗外飘着的雪花，真是不想出门。这样的天气，人们最容易生病了。不过当你真的浑身发热、喉咙肿痛的时候，你就不得不说上一句：“I'm sick.”、“I'm ill.”(我生病了。)或者“I've got a cold.”(我感冒了。)但多数情况你都是因为flu(流感)而生病的，所以这个流行的“have the flu”你也要记住啊！
不过你只说“I'm sick.”可没人知道你哪里不舒服呀！所以如果要go to see a doctor(去看病)，还要说清到底你是哪儿难受。比如：I've got(had)a headache.(我头疼。)I have a sore throat.(我喉咙疼。)I have a(high)fever.(我发高烧了。)如果医生问你有什么症状，你就可以告诉他“My nose is running.”(我流鼻涕。)“And I sneeze.'Ah-tishoo!'”(我还打喷嚏，阿--嚏！)这些都是感冒的症状。
但如果你说：“I've had toothache all day.”(我的牙疼了一整天。)或者你说“I have had stomachache.”(我胃疼、肚子疼。)那么医生就不会给你开感冒药了。所以你只有说清楚了，医生才能对症下药呀！

It's up to you！“由你决定！”这可是句很受听的话呀！把决定权交给别人，无论你对谁说，都是很给对方面子的。
比如你的General Manager(总经理)现在很信任你，今天他把一项很重要的工作交给了你。当你询问他细节怎么办时，他很信任地拍拍你的肩膀说：“It's up to you！”那可要恭喜你啦！你得到了General Manager的信任了！
还有，如果你陪某位小姐去选首饰，她左选右选还是拿不定主意，但你却早已不耐烦了。可她还是不停地问你：“Which one shall I take？”(我到底要哪一个呀？)于是你一耸肩，对她说了句：“It's up to you！” 你倒是解脱了！
但对于重要的事情，最终决定还要你自己去做。The final choice is up to you！如果你(女孩子)面对众多优秀的求婚者，不知该嫁给谁，那可要慎重考虑，不能轻易一句“It's up to you！”就把自己给出卖了！所以语言也是分场合的嘛！
这句“It's up to you！”还有一句相同意思的“at your disposal”(由你决定吧)也要想好了再说呀！
