I also figured out that if you really want something badly enough, you can do anything for 30 days.Have you ever wanted to write a novel? Every November, tens of thousands of people try to write their own 50,000 word novel from scratch in 30 days.It turns out, all you have to do is write 1,667 words a day for a month.So I did.By the way, the secret is not to go to sleep until you’ve written your words for the day.You might be sleep-deprived, but you’ll finish your novel.Now is my book the next great American novel? No.I wrote it in a month.It’s awful.But for the rest of my life, if I meet John Hodgman at a TED party, I don’t have to say, “I’m a computer scientist.” No, no, if I want to I can say, “I’m a novelist.”

现在有人主张在高等院校实施双语教育，也就是在高等院校用英语授课。如果这是英语教学的一部分，应该限于外语院校，那样才有可能，也符合学习外语的需要。如果要推广到一般高等院校，那就不是一个英语教学的问题，而涉及高等院校的教学用语问题，是一个国家主权和民主尊严的问题。解放以后在五十年代我们已经彻底消除了高等院校用外语，主要使用英语或英语和汉语夹杂授课，用英语教材这种殖民地教育的残余现象，难道我们今天要恢复这种现象？现在崇洋媚外思想有所抬头，中国人面对中国人说话要用对方不懂的英语，报刊上不断出现中国人看不懂的英文名称和术语，中央领导已经严肃地指出这是一种殖民地文化倾向，不明白为什么还要提倡。

Nowadays, some people are holding an idea that bilingual education should be conducted in colleges and universities meaning teaching in English in colleges and universities.If it is a part of English teaching, it is supposed to be limited to foreign schools for that way is more possible and meets the requirements of English learning more.If it has to be extended to common colleges and universities, then it is no longer a matter of English Teaching but a matter of teaching language in colleges and universities, a matter of state sovereignty and national pride.In the 50s after liberation, we have completely eliminated foreign language using in colleges and universities with Chinese or English plus Chinese teaching as the replacement.Are we really restoring this remaining image of colonial education by using English teaching materials? Presents days, more people tend to worship everything foreign than their own.Chinese are talking in English to Chinese and English names and terms are frequently shown on newspapers which most Chinese don’t understand.Chinese central government has seriously pointed out that this is a tendency to colonial culture, so I really can’t see why some people are

核心理念：人本自然，时鉴真知 Core Concept: “Human Basing on Nature, Practice Telling the Truth”

首先，关于“人本自然”

含义1：以人为本的自然环境评价标准，并不是所有原生的自然环境都是适合人类生存的，对其进行符合人本需求的恰当改造是人类天赋的生存权利，不应被自然原教旨主义的狭隘观点所剥夺。

含义2：人类对生存环境的改造要本着自然的规律，不能焚林而猎，涸泽而渔，不然的话，必然适得其反，不但不能改善人类的生存环境，反而可能招致灾难性的后果，从而走向“人本”的反面。

含义3：人本身就是自然的一部分，浑然一体，将人与自然割裂开来并不不符合这个世界的真相。“人本自然”就是要把人归入自然，然后作为一个高度统一的系统来研究。

First of all, “Human Basing on Nature”

Definition 1:it is standard evaluation of people-oriented natural environment.Not all the original natural environment is suitable for human survival, and the appropriate transformation of the human demand is the survival rights of human, and it shall not be deprived by the narrow view of naturalism.Definition 2: Transformation of the human living environment should be adapted to the laws of nature.It should not seek short-term interests;otherwise it will run against our desire.With that situation it not only reduces the human living environment, but also leads to disastrous consequences and goes to the opposite of “Human Basing on Nature”.Definition 3: Human is part of nature and all contribute to one integrated whole.The separation between human and nature goes against the truth of the world.“Human Basing on Nature” means to bring people into the nature andis treated as a highly unified system to study.其次，关于“时鉴真知”

含义1：我们的创新是有明确的时间观念的，所谓新旧本身就是一个相对时间的概念，因此在恰当的历史条件下提出符合历史要求的想法或创意是我们创作的目标，因此我们绝不会因循守旧，也不会天马行空。

含义2：任何我们提出的想法或实践的事业都是要接受时间检验的，我们有勇气也有信心面对这样的检验，因为我们总是在做之前就给自己的时钟上好了弦。

Secondly, Practice Telling the Truth

“双语之星” 中英文演讲比赛策划书

为丰富学生课余生活，增强学生对中英双语学习的重视，激发学生运用双语的热情，在五月举办第一届“双语之星”中英文演讲比赛。具体策划如下：

一 活动目的“双语之星”既要求同学们有较高的英语运用能力，能用英语进行演讲、交流，还要求参赛者有较高的母语运作能力

为更好地推动学生对英语学习的热情，全面提高我系学生中英文素质，激发同学们学习多种语言的兴趣，我系特拟定举办本次活动。

二活动具体安排

（一）报名时间：4月3日----4月7日

（二）比赛规则

比赛采取一轮制，共分三个环节

1、自备演讲稿，英文（主题已定），限时4分钟

2、即兴演讲，中文（现场抽题）限时3分钟

3、现场答问，评委提问选手即兴回答（中英文提问）2分钟

采取公平、公正原则

3、比赛开始，选手根据赛前抽签顺序进行比赛

总结：

如今大学校园里，同学们为适应中国国际化的需要，努力学习英语，为今后的就业和人生发展奠定坚实的基础，但是，很多人在英语水平提高的同时，却忽视了母语的学习：也有一部分人认为只要中文水平提高了，外语水平高低与否都没关系，所以在象征性的过了等级考之后就放弃了英语的学习，这些都是大家概念中的误区。

对于此次活动的举办，非常成功，因为同学们的参与度非常高。这就说明了我们同学对语言素质的提高有非常搞的期望，希望此次活动对同学们有个很好的启示，在以后的生涯中不要放弃对语言文化的培养。、
