In an interview, Fields said, “When I was a child, my father always told me I should put down my guitar and do my homework.He wanted me to go to college and become a teacher as he and his brother were.”
Fields explained that he made a great effort to please his father, but often his love of music became too great and he would steal into a garden behind his house and play his guitar and make up songs.“I made it to Stanton College,” he laughed, “but I took accounting(会计)instead of teaching.And to pay my own way, I played the guitar and sang at a local nightclub.”
While Fields was still in his senior year, an executive(总裁)of a record company came into the club as he was singing one of his own songs.The executive liked what he heard and signed the man a contract(合同).Since graduation from Stanton College in 1973, Fields has spent his full time writing and singing songs.“My Heartache,” a song he wrote while in college, reached number seventeen in the top twenty song hits of 1974 and in 1977 his song, “Rambling,” was the song for the movie of the same name.55.The words “has their way” in paragraph 1 most probably means _____.A.succeeded in achieving their goalB.found their way of punishing StanleyC.made conditions easy for Stanley’s future D.prevented Stanley from going to college 56.According to the passage, Stanley Fields’ _____.A.mother and father were teachersB.mother and brother were teachersC.father and uncle were teachersD.aunt and uncle were teachers 57.We can learn that Fields _____.A.wrote no songs before entering collegeB.made up songs before entering collegeC.began writing songs after attending collegeD.had songs published before attending college 58.Which statement is NOT true?

An international conference took place this week in Dakar, Senegal, to find new ways to get and keep girls in school.[来源:学科网ZXXK]
The UN Children’s Fund says nearly 72 million children were not in school in 2007.More than half are girls, and more than two-thirds are in the sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and West Asia.School attendance has improved in many areas.But the head of UNICEF, Anthony Lake, says, “Unless we all work harder, there may still be 56 million children out of school in 2015.”
He says progress and economic development depend on educating girls as well as boys.Educated girls are also at lower risk of violence, abuse and diseases like AIDS.The UN Girls’ Education Initiative organized the meeting of 200 scholars, aid workers and government officials from 22 countries.The initiative was launched in Dakar ten years ago.The aim is to bring primary school education to all girls and boys worldwide by 2015.In Senegal, the number of public schools has doubled in the last ten years.But Anthony Lake said schools still lack gender equality.He said girls in one Dakar school told him about a lack of bathrooms and textbooks for them, and bullying from boys.The conference centered on three main problems to getting and keeping girls in school: violence, poverty and poor quality education.Ann-Therese Ndong-Jatta is education director for UNESCO in Africa.She says donors are pumping in a lot of resources and civil society groups are working on access to education.“But the truth is, 75% of the children fail.”
She says schools need to modernize and improve what they teach and how they teach it.For example, schools should teach African children in their native languages, not simply in English or French.To stay in school, experts say, children must consider their education useful---and so must their parents.May Rihani from the Global Advisory Committee of the UN Girls’ Initiative gave an example from a “life skills” program in Mali.One lesson is about diarrhea(痢疾).The idea is for children to go tell their mother what they learned.May Rihani says, “The mother would recognize that this education is important to her and to her family and would want the child to continue to go to school.” 59.What might be best title for the passage?
A.Girls’ social position should be improved.B.Schools worldwide need to be modernized.C.International conference held this week in Dakar.D.More efforts urged to get and keep girls in school.60.We learn from the passage that ________.A.the whole world has now attached great importance to girls’ educationB.African schools teach in English and French as well as in their native languagesC.equal education contributes a lot to human progress and economic developmentD.the problem of school attendance will finally be solved in 2015 61.The example in the last paragraph is used to ________.A.inform readers about what is taught in African schoolsB.tell children what is taught in African schools is very importantC.explain to readers what quality education means in African schoolsD.convince children and their parents of the usefulness of education

Surgeons in Spain have successfully carried out the world’s first organ transplant using new stem cell technology.Some people call it the greatest medical breakthrough so far this century.But what are stem cells? As we know, most cells in our bodies are designed to serve specific purposes---for example, a liver cell develops to work in the liver and cannot become a heart cell.But stem cells are different.They’re very young, and in the laboratory scientists can grow them into different types of cell.Claudia Castillo needed a new windpipe(气管)after developing TB.Scientists from the University of Bristol took a donor windpipe from someone who had recently died.They used strong chemicals to remove the donor’s cells, leaving a tissue scaffold(组织支架).This was repopulated with cells from Ms
Castillo’s windpipe and nose, and stem cells from her bone marrow(骨髓).After four days the cells had grown enough for the windpipe to be transplanted into Ms Castillo.Generally, transplant patients have to take drugs for the rest of their lives to prevent their bodies rejecting the new organs.These drugs can have bad side-effects, and do not always prevent rejection.But by using Ms Castillo’s own cells, doctors were able to trick her body into thinking the new windpipe was her own organ.Five months on, Claudia Castillo is in perfect health.This ground-breaking procedure could be used in other transplant operations in the future.Scientists also believe stem cells might be used to treat Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, diabetes, burns and so on.However, stem cell research is highly debatable.The most effective stem cells do not come from adults but from embryos(坯胎)created in laboratories which are just a few days old.Many people have religious or ethical objections to growing embryos, even if they can be used to cure diseases.66This transplant is considered the greatest medical breakthrough because ________.A.it’s the first organ transplant in the whole world B.it’s the first attempt with new stem cell technology C.the patient is in perfect health after the operation D.the stem cells come from embryos developed in labs 67Stem cells are different from other cells in that ________.A.they can work in the liver not in the heart B.they are designed for a specific purpose C.they can grow into different types of cell D.they are most effective in the human body 68What does the third paragraph mainly tell us?
A.How the windpipe is successfully transplanted.[来源:学科网ZXXK] B.Why stem cells are needed in the transplant.C.How the cells from the donor’s organ are removed.D.Why Claudia can luckily survive the operation.69We can conclude from the passage that ________.A.the transplanted organ was refilled with stem cells only

Have you ever have a day when everything seemed to go wrong, and nothing seemed to go right? Not too long ago I was having one of those days.I was discouraged, weary, and plain sad.My focus was on me.After all, no one else was experiencing the same trials I was.I expressed my upset state to my mother, hoping for some pity.Instead, she said, “I heard Jamie was having a difficult day too.Why don’t you make her some cookies and take them to her this afternoon?”
I didn’t really want to, but decided that I didn’t want to go back to my other problems just yet.I made the cookies and arranged them on a little plate.Then I made a card with a sunflower on it and wrote a small note of sympathy.That afternoon I dropped by my friend’s house.I went to the door and rang the bell.Soon, Jamie came to the door and looked at me in surprise for the unexpected visit.Before she could say anything I rushed, “I heard you were having a hard day and decided to bring you something.I hope your day goes better.” The look that came over Jamie’s face was one that I could never put into words.It was as if a darkened sky was suddenly lit with the golden rays of the sun;it was as if in that small act, her day was brightened.I got back into the car and for some amazing reason, I felt a lot better myself.That day I experienced the truth that Jamie Barrie attempted to describe, “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” 25.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?

The common cold is the world’s most widespread illness, which is plagues(疫病)that flesh receives.The most widespread fallacy(谬误)of all is that colds are caused by cold.They are not.They are caused by viruses passing in from person to person.You catch a cold, and it would be reasonable to expect the Eskimos to suffer from them forever.But they do not.And in isolated arctic regions exporers have reported being free from colds intil coming into contact again with infected people from the outside world by way of packages and mail dropped from airplanes.During thr First World War soldiers who spent long periods in the trenches(战壕), cold and wet, showed no increased tendency to catch colds.In the Second World War prisoners at the notorious Auschwitz conxentration camp(奥斯维辛集中营),naked and starving, were astonished to find that they seldom had colds.At the Common Cold Research Unit England, volunteers took part in experiments in which they gave themselves to the discomforts of being cold and wet for long stretches of time.After taking hot baths, they put on bathing suits, allowed themselves to be dipped with cold water, and then stood about dripping wet in drafty room.Some wore wet socks all day while others exercised in the rain until close to echaustion.Not one of the volunteers came down with a cold unless a cold virus was actually drooped in hes nose.In the cold we have nothing to do with catching colds, but why are they more frequent in the winter? Despite the most pains-takong esearch, no one has yet found the answer.One explanation offered by scientists is that people tend to stay together indoors more in cold weather than at other times, and this makes it easier for cold virused to be passed on.No one has yet tound a cure for the cold.There are drugs and pain suppressors(止痛片)such as aspirin, but all they do is to relieve the symptoms(症状)。29.The writer offeredexamples to support his argument.A.4B.5C.6D.3.30.Arctic explorers may catch colds when.A.they are working in the isolated arctic regions.B.they are writing reports in terribly cold weather

Why is setting goals important? Because goals can help you do, be and experience everything you want in life.Instead of just letting life happen o you, goals allow yourself to make your life happen.Successful and hapy people have a vision of how their life should be and they set lots of goals(both short-term and long-range)to help them reach their vision.By setting goals you are taking control of your life.It’s like having a map to show you where you want to go.Think of it in this way.There are two drivers.One has a destination in mind(her goal)which is laid out for her on a map.She can drive straight there without any wasted time or wrong turns.The other driver has no goal or destination or map.She starts off at the same time from the same place as the first driver.But she drives aimlessly around, never getting anywhere, just using up gas and oil.Which driver do you want to be?
Winners in life set goals and follow through on them.They decide what they want in life and then get there by making plans and setting goals.Unsuccessful people just let life happen by accident.Goals aren’t difficult to set, and they aren’t difficult to reach.It’s up to you to find out what your goals, ideas and visions really are.You are the one who must decide what to pursue and at what direction to aim your life.Research tells us that when we write a goal down we are more likely to achieve it.Written goals can be reviewed regularly, and have nore power.Like a cintract(合同)with yourself, they are harder to neglect or forget,Also when you write your goals in a particular way you are able to make yourself continuously aware of situations that will bring you nearer to your goals.32.The author gave the example of two drivers to show.A.the foolishness of the first driverB.the importance of having a map C.the foolishness of the second driverD.the importance of setting goals
33.According to this text, the most important thing in realizing one’s ideal is
to.A.try to be realistic about one’s ability
B.have a clear understanding of what he or she wants in life.C.let others understand him of her first, then work together with him or herD.let others help him or her to make his or her dream come true 34.If people want to reach their goals, they should.A.write down their goals

Your audience is going to come away with one or two of your main ideas.One or two..And if you don’t have a clear idea of what you want to say, there’s no way your audience will.— how you are going to open, what major points you want to make and how you’re going to close.When I do a radio or TV piece, I often write the last sentence first.40.A strong close is critical;the last thing you say is what your audience will most likely remember.The standard length of a vaudeville act is usually 12 minutes.If all those performers singing and dancing their hearts out couldn’t go on longer without boring the audience, what makes you think you can?
A.Some people are born to be good at making speech B.Anybody who can talk can speak in public C.Try to relax yourself before making the speech
D.The more important the speech is, the more frightened we become
E.If you can’t express in a sentence or two what you intend to get across, then your speech is not focused well enough
F.When you know where you’re headed, you can choose any route to get there
G.No matter how long or short your speech is, you’ve got to ger your ducks in a row

surpporting sentence----if you lock yourself into a given timeline, you might make yourself feellike a failure.
1、部分学生学习不够灵活,直接死搬硬套书本上的内容,如57空,部分学生会填as soon as;
2、不能根据时间状语去正确把握句子的时态,如59空,大部分学生都填成became;
1、在日常教学中,注重学生学习方法的培养,让学生能活学活用;,2、培养学生从宏观上把握文章结构,句式结构,注重培养学生对复杂句式的分析理解;
