The story happened under the background of the Britain and France fighting for the American colonies.And the war turned into white-hot;the circumstance of the Indian sank into dilemma.There are two options for them, to fight for the colonists or to wait for the fate to die out.And there are still last three Mohegan in the world.And among them there is a white man who was adopted by an old Mohegan.And on their hunting way to north, they ran into the war in which the Hurons which were under the control of French colonists were attacking the English officer and two daughters of an English general.And the three Mohegan helped them to defend the Hurons.Then in the battle of William Hamburg, the English colonists were defeated.And French army accepted English army’s surrender.But the Hurons who once massacred by the English colonists would not forgive them easily.And the Hurons wanted to kill the two daughters of the general.So the three Mohegan embarked on the road to protect the two girls.Finally, the white Mohegan fell in love with the older daughter of the general.From this story we can see confliction between colonization and anti-colonization, repression and freedom, colonists and aborigines.Farther more, the white Mohegan’s desire to fight for freedom and his lover touched us a lot.The background of the story

made the readers feel a strong breathing of epic.At the end of the story, their unbending spirit of looking for freedom made the readers know more about the deep emotions of aborigines.The fighting between aborigines was wild and lamentable.In order to survive, they had to fight like animals, and did not realize that they were just the tools of the colonists to occupy more lands.The blood of them was the strongest evidence of the evil of the colonialism.The most righteous men among the aborigines were the last three Mohegan.The biggest difference between the three Mohegan and other aborigines was that they kept a clear mind and the freedom of character.They did not choice any side and keep a balance life style.And under this life belief they keep a strong and unyielding spirit.And one day there will be no more frontier.And men like you will go too, like the Mohicans.And new people will come, work, struggle.Some will make their life.But once, we were here.

the Last of the Mohicans

As one of ¡°The Leather-stocking Tales¡±, The Last of the

Mohicans creates an American hero-myth by the name of Hawkeye.In this novel he is portrayed as a perfect example of the western man,shaped by the forest in which he lives and broken away from the

falsity of civilization.He is the embodiment of basic human virtueslike kindness, wisdom, bravery and rustic chivalry.His Indiancompanion, the Mohican chief Chingachgook, is Cooper¡¯s ideal ofthe natural man, whose native intelligence, loyalty and brotherlylove are not tainted by civilization.Besides vivid characterization,this novel is full of blood and fight, set in descriptive images of the

beauty of nature reminiscent of Sir Walter Scott.What is more, I think that repetition, oppositions and contrastsabound in the novel.Repetition exists most obviously in the plotdevice of the trap and escape of the characters while oppositionsshow themselves mainly in the numerous frontier clashes: Frenchagainst English, Indians against Indians and against whites, Maguaagainst Hawkeye¡¯s party.The most important and controlling

opposition in the novel are between evil and good.As to contrasts,the most appealing one is that between the condition of nature andthe condition of humans.In addition, after reading this novel, I find two themes from it.2The first one is ¡°interracial love and friendship¡±.The

Indian.Hawkeye and Chingachgook¡¯s shared communication withnature transcends race, enabling them to team up against Huronenemies and to save white military leaders like Heyward.On theother hand, though, cooper shows his conviction that interracialromances are doomed and undesirable.The interracial love of Uncasand Cora ends in tragedy, and the forced interracial relationshipbetween Cora and Magua is portrayed as unnatural.Through Cora,cooper suggests that interracial desire can be inherited.The second one is ¡°the changing idea of family¡±.Cooper uses

the frontier setting to explore the changing status of the family unit.Cooper posits that the wilderness demands new definitions of family.Uncas and Hawkeye, for example, form a makeshift family structure.When Uncas¡¯s real father, Chingachgook, disappears without

explanation in the middle portion of the novel, Hawkeye becomes asymbolic father for Uncas.As Uncas develops his leadershipqualities and emerges as a hero at the Delaware council of

Tamenund, he takes on some of the charisma and skill of Hawkeye,3just as a son would inherit behavior from his father.Not only doUncas and Hawkeye form a family not related by blood, they form afamily that transcends race.Despite this redefinition, however, thenovel dose not allow new family formations that mix race, for Uncasand Cora do not to get to act on their interracial attraction.Thetragedy of this sentimental novel is that Cora and Uncas cannotredefine the notion of family according to their desires.All in all, Cooper¡¯s style in this novel is plain and

straightforward.His lucid description of nature often achieves apoetic simplicity.The tragic irony is that the last of the Mohicans,symbolically represent the last of a dying Indian culture, includingnot only the Mohicans but all the Indian tribes¡ªdispersed, dividedand ultimately destroyed by the coming of the Europeans.

After reading The Last Leaf, I am so deeply impressed that I read it again and again.The novel tell us a profound story: Johnsy, who has a serious ill with pneumonia, regards the ivy leaves outside the window as her life’s mark.With the leaves failing, Johnsy thinks desperately，she would die after the last leaf falls down.However, the old artist, Behrman, who lives in the same building as the girls, braves a storm one night to paint a leaf on the wall — a leaf that will never fall.Cold and wet from painting in the icy rain, he catches pneumonia and dies.This gives Johnsy the hope to survive her illness, and it also creates the masterpiece Behrman had always dreamed of painting.Johnsy is just like us, young and passionate.But when the troubles come, we may feel sad and hopeless, just like her.But we must know we are young and our whole life lies ahead of us.We should not lose the faith of life and keep ourselves with ourselves.There is a sentence goes like this: The most sadness person in the world is a man whose heart has already died.So no matter how hard you are, you should always keep a positive attitude.Where there is hope, there is way.The life can be hard, but we must be happy and optimistic.The Last Leaf is a very simple story without great plots and beautiful words, but it has profound meaning which benefits people.I like it very much.

最后的耍猴人读后感

（一）生执念

电脑放着高峰栾云平多年前致敬经典的相声《买猴》，恰好从书架上抽出来一本《最后的耍猴人》。

提到猴子，除了“孙悟空”之外，我最先能想起来的，便是街头卖艺的耍猴人。还记得小时候，街头上经常有操着外地口音的人们，带着两三只猴子，挥着鞭子，让猴子摆出各种造型表演着。

小时候，我特别喜欢看猴子表演。其中有只会和观众讨要食物的猴子，是我最喜欢的。追了半条街去让家长带着我去看猴子，直到后来艺人带着猴子离开，我还和猴子去“约”好明年再来。那时候小孩子心性，记不住事情，却还是记着第二年看猴子。只可惜，我想不起来之前的小猴子是什么样子，更不记得耍猴人的模样，所以等第二年再看的时候，应该是别的猴子。

连续好几年，总有耍猴的艺人在我们小镇表演。其中有一位艺人还曾经路过我家，借用电话往老家打了电话。90年代，小镇安装电话的人家并不多，大多数人打电话是要去公共电话亭的。打长途不能直拨，话费也很高。那次打完电话，我爸爸拒绝了那人递给的钱，还请他喝茶和吃东西。我在旁边逗猴子玩。断断续续听着，他和老乡都是带着猴子来的，大多数人看猴子表演是不给钱的，有些给几毛钱或者能讨点烟酒和其他的食物之类。

那时候，我并不懂得“外地人”和“猴子”是从什么地方来的？甚至于连“外地”这样的概念都是模糊的。

如今，翻看着这本记录了马宏杰耗费12年时间进行跟拍的《最后的耍猴人》。这本书是马宏杰跟拍河南新野耍猴人在中国各地及中国边境地区行走江湖的故事。整本书从汉代的耍猴历史一直写到中国最后的一代耍猴人，记录了他们云游海外以及上当受骗的种种经历。

渐渐，与幼年那些记忆，重叠了起来。

原来，我童年那只小猴子要冒着头顶高压线的危险跟着他的主人违章扒火车；原来我童年那只小猴子要在没有顶棚的货运车厢里逆风经历几天几夜的风霜露宿；原来我童年那只小猴子和“外地人”几天几夜只有几块干馍充饥；原来我童年那只小猴子要睡在临时搭建的窝棚中；原来我童年那只小猴子随时可能被街头混混殴打。

那只小猴子，经历全国四处游走，扒火车卖艺，打地铺睡觉，最后才出现在我的面前，带给我欢乐……这都是耍猴人的生活状态，然而，耍猴人有他们的道德标准和尊严，他们是耍猴赚钱绝不乞讨，他们是扒火车但绝不偷盗——在这本书中都有真实的描述和照片的鉴证。

看了这本书，我十分敬佩作者，他为“真实”照片的付出辛苦经历。我很难用语言去评价这本书。

如今，因为种种原因，街头耍猴人越来越少。我很多年没有再在街头看到耍猴人，不知道多久以后，社会上还会不会再有耍猴人。但是，我对耍猴人的认知及尊敬，却是不会改变的。

（二）小的时候经常看到电视上又出现耍猴的情节，后来随着时代的发展，这种表演出现的越来越少，心里不免有丝遗憾。无意中在书店看见了马宏杰的这本书，立刻被他的封面吸引，封面上一个佝偻的老人驮着一直猴子，面对镜头呆呆得望着，身后是茫茫的雪……《最后的耍猴人》就拉开了序幕。

马宏杰是一个摄影记者，耍猴人这个选题，他跟拍了12年。在此之前，西部招妻的选题他跟拍了30年。第一次跟拍耍猴人的时候，他跟着杨林贵他们一起扒火车去成都，时走时停的露天车厢里，装的是随时都像是会倒下来机器，没有一个能躺的地方，人在角落里歪歪斜斜的坐着，因为怕被警察发现，一句话不敢说。两天两夜的行程，吃的是馒头，喝的是凉水。最难熬的是下雨的时候，露天的车厢，没一块儿能躲雨的地方，冬天的雨，即便在中国的南方也是彻骨的冷。火车哐哐当当的走着，从头皮到脚底没有一块儿暖和的地方。

其中有一段特别触动我，书中是这样写的“扒上火车去成都，杨林贵告诉作者：跟我扒火车的班子，是不允许拿车上任何东西的。有时候在车上看到电视机、冰箱以及整箱的香烟，我们都绝对不拿。而且我还给自己定了一个原则：不准乞讨。我靠耍猴赚钱，不给任何人下跪，这是我的江湖规矩。”2003年1月11日，第一次跟拍结束，一共74天，杨林贵1000元，杨志800元，杨林志800元，做饭的人370元。

耍猴人其实和其他职业一样，都是靠着自己的手艺吃饭。但你说这是虐待动物，你说这是文化糟粕，你说这是我们对其他物种的奴役，以前的我也会这么认为，就如现在街头再也看不到耍猴人的身影。但是这是另一种生活，他们依靠着祖祖辈辈流传下来的手艺兢兢业业的生活。我们只看到他们为了钱财把绳索套在猴子身上，可是我们没看到私底下的他们和猴子同吃同住，第一口饭都是留给小猴。于他们来说，这些猴子不是生财工具，更像处久了的家人。

就像《新世纪周刊》评价他们是“无法用道德标准去评判的一群人”,看到他们像流浪乞讨那样带猴杂耍，会觉得邋遢低俗，有嫌恶；看到他们扒火车，睡桥底，啃脏馒头，为了一分钱斤斤计较，这样带着不惧死亡地挣扎去卯足劲生存，又心生同情；看到他们不同于盗贼之流的高尚人格，于同伴于陌生人间的舍命相助，又异常感动敬仰。特别是，他们对于猴子之间的感情，会开怀得笑，会痛快得哭，会疼惜得抱，越来越明白其实人性是个很复杂的东西。无法用一面来评价一个人的好坏，里面各有各的故事，各有各的因为贫穷苦难而挣扎。

作者在书里还有这么一段杨林贵这次外出遇到了两个人，与他们的交谈让他感触很深。在湖北，一个穿着得体的公务员对杨林贵说：“你干点什么不好，非要干这下三流的事情。”杨林贵回答说：“我想当官，我知道我不会当，但是我肯定不会当贪官。”在景德镇，一个16岁的女孩看完猴戏，对他说：“老爷爷，你这一生给多少人带来了快乐啊！”杨林贵听后，那天路上都很开心。

公务员眼中，杨林贵的职业是下三流的，是带着有色势利的眼镜去看。而杨林贵则说：肯定不会当贪官，语气果断，他觉得他和公务员之间你不高贵我不低贱，我们之间是一样的。你眼中的是下三流，而我眼中的你也不是什么好玩意儿。在景德镇碰到的小姑娘则击中了杨林贵的软肋，这一生不被理解，委委屈屈过生活，不被周围的人所认可。而小女孩的一句还能让他明白，()原来有人为因为我的职业而感到快乐，这是这一天，或者这一月，甚至这一年，予他最大的礼物吧。

2014年9月，鲍风山等新野四位耍猴人因耍猴被法院判以“非法运输珍贵野生动物罪”.虽经过上诉，二审改判成无罪，但二审法院认为一审确认的违法事实存在，只是因为“情节轻微，可不认为是犯罪”.鲍风山对马宏杰说，自己被捕时，他带的那只叫阿丹的猴子护主心切，朝公安们直扑，被他拉住了。有位公安当场指着阿丹喊：“信不信我打死你。”拘捕期间，被带走的6只猴子里，这只叫阿丹的公猴死了。

书的最后一页，马宏杰放了两张照片：一张是工作人员从冰柜里拿出冻得僵硬的猴子阿丹的尸体。一张是，鲍风山抱着阿丹的头坐在地上痛哭不已。

“我想，中国是一个地域广阔的国家，地区贫富差异至今还很大，我们每个人不能以自己生活的地区的生活方式去理解另一个地区人的生活方式。他们的很多生活方式是我们所看不到的。在一个贫穷的地方，一个人能找到一种不违反法律和伦理的方式生存下来，能自食其力，就很不容易了。这就像生活在当下的我们，不能去评价、指责古代人的生活方式和文明程度一样。”这是柴静给这本书写的序。

对啊，泱泱中国，我们有不同的民族文化，不同的地方习俗，连豆浆吃咸的还是甜的，饺子蘸醋还是蘸酱油，都有着各种各样的分歧。我们凭什么以自己的所见所闻，所思所想，就判定了另一个人有罪？人啊，活得越久想得越多，想得越多，就越觉得自己是个上帝，所有不合我的都是错的，这或许是种悲哀吧。我为耍猴人的命运感到不幸，愿他们今后一切安好，愿他们能被大家所理解和认可！

（三）读完这本书，感受很深，尤其是对于以前生活一个算是比较小的城镇的这样的孩子，现在在城市里生活久了回到农村，城乡之间的巨大差异会让自己有更大的触动，无论是在生活，还是在教育上。

这时候想起了小时候的自己以及生活的那个小城镇，自己小时候还算生活得比较优渥，那时候很多同学的生活也是艰苦的，每天要走至少几公里的路来到学校，早上天微亮就会在路上看到小小的的身影驮着一个大大的书包朝着学校前进，这是一种改变命运的追求，但是很多孩子还是上了初中就因为各种原因没有继续上学，然后外出打工，就像书里杨林贵的孩子们，然后继续生活在社会的底层，过着艰苦的生活，重复着上一辈人的命运，影响着下一代生命，但是从中我们也能看到他们对命运的不屈，以前在城镇给孩子们上课的时候会看到孩子们的求知欲，因为希望能通过这种方式改变自己的命运，或许这是他们在那个年龄能想到的改变命运的唯一方法了；而与之形成对比的城里的孩子吃喝不愁，他们完全不会担忧自己的将来，也完全不知道生活的艰辛与不易，他们生活的世界是围着自己转的一个世界，没有压力没有忧愁，所以也没有一种动力为了自己的生活而努力；

在人们的观念来说，这种差异从一开始就是埋在我们的生命当中不能改变，但是站在一名教师的立场，我希望通过教育来缩小人们思想上的差距，以及不同生活层次的人对彼此生活的感受与理解；我们至少要做到，永远不能站在我们的立场上去评价别人的生活，因为我们没有生活在那个环境，我们不能用我们的眼光看待生活在底层的人的生活方式，他们用一种不违背道德和法律的方式来生活，应该是值得我们尊重的。

当然现在人们的生活已经改变了很多，那时候人们的那种艰苦现在的人估计没有几个能够忍受，他们过着那种饥寒交迫，吃了上一顿没有下一顿的日子，每天的生活的意义就是在于怎么能够让一家老小能够更好地活下去，那种坚持，那种对命运的挣扎在现在的社会已经不复存在了，当然当代人有当代人的压力，只是不再是吃饱饭的问题，这些问题也是我们我们不可忽视的，这是时代赋予我们不同的生活。

在书中还看到的就是贫苦人对贫苦人的热心，那种情感是让人感动的，他们的那种善意更让我更多地地反思现在人的冷漠，以及现在我们所存在的一些道德沦陷的问题，现在社会的价值观太过于功利主义，大多数人都是对利益趋之若鹜，为了金钱为了权利，不惜牺牲人们的生命，安全等等；还有就是弱势群体的保护，我们国家的法律体系的完善，传统文化到底应该怎么走，这些问题都让我们陷入深深的思考中，现在的中国人路在何方？

《最后的耍猴人》是《中国国家地理》摄影师马宏杰用12年时间，跟拍了中国最后一代民间耍猴艺人在全国及边境地区行走江湖的故事。

作者跟着耍猴人一起四处游走，一起扒火车，一起卖艺，和猴子一起打地铺露宿，记录了耍猴人这个特殊群体的家庭生活，记录了耍猴人云游海外，以及上当受骗、倾家荡产，被刑拘的各种离奇遭遇，从一个特殊的群体反映了当代中国的现状与变化。在作者的镜头和文字里，猴子和人同吃一锅饭，同睡一张床，结一辈子的伴，行走江湖，赚钱养家，猴子和人养育各自的儿女，他们一起生活，一起老去，一起消逝于这个时代。
