大学营救伊拉克学者行动
纽约市的The New School University 于昨天宣布成立New School InExile,一个为伊拉克学者提供一些物资和签证的组织。The New School 于1933年起从纳粹政府中救出了一个有名的犹太学者。
“进入二战以来,学者们经受了一个比以往都要危险的劫难。”New School的校长Bob Kerry说道。“在今天的伊拉克,几乎400名学者被长期流放,考古遗址被大肆破坏,地区的破坏程度创历史新高。”
The New School将会为学者提供一些物资,加速签证的办理,为学者提供住宿。
Mr.Kerry承认此项计划意义重大。“今天伊拉克学者的处境比1933年犹太学者更为糟糕,但是,我们正在努力,救助资金有限。有时我们更多的给予精神上的抚慰。这也是对Darfur受害者的关注比大城市或国家,例如伊拉克,芝加哥要多的原因。但是我们会尽我们所能。”“由于伊拉克的文艺再也不会如以前那般繁盛,它的考古遗址,博物馆,图书馆都不复存在。学者们必须为我们国家的决定做出修补,尽可能的保住学者,”Mr.Kerry 说。
