谈到Halloween的来历,甚至有些美国人自己都说不清,一方面由于现今大家多关注节日的趣味性,节日的意义渐失,另一方面也是因为万圣节的来历太曲折,又是异教风俗,又是天主教风俗圣化。我们有些人会把万圣夜当成万圣节,其实十一月一日是万圣节,十月三十一日是万圣夜,即万圣节前夜,英文称之“Halloween”,为“All Hallow Eve”的缩写,“hallows”是“神圣”的意思,“Eve”是“前夜”的意思,是指万圣节(All Hallow's Day)的前夜。而万圣节南瓜灯(Jack O' Lantern)的由来有两种说法,一说是人挖空了南瓜又刻上鬼脸点上烛火用以驱散鬼魂;另一种说法是鬼魂点上的烛火,试图骗取人们上当而跟着鬼魂走,所以人们就在南瓜表面刻上一个嘲讽的脸面,用以调笑鬼魂。传说因为首用南瓜灯的是一位爱尔兰人Jack,所以人们又将鬼脸南瓜灯叫做Jack O' Lantern。

一、活动主题

万圣节晚会(Halloween Party)

二、活动背景

万圣节(Halloween)在每年的10月31日,是西方世界的传统节 日,主要流行于撒克逊人后裔云集的美国、不列颠群岛、澳大利亚、加拿大和新西兰等西方国家。当晚小孩会穿上化妆服,戴上面具,挨家挨户收集榶果。万圣节通常与灵异的事物联系起来。欧洲传统上认为万圣夜是鬼怪世界最接近人间的时间,这传说与东亚的中元节与盂兰节以及日本的百鬼夜行类似。

三、活动目的

不同的形式,同一个理念。本次活动旨在借助万圣节契机,举办一次专属于口语协会的狂欢Party,让热爱英语的同学充分感受英文口语的美妙及英文所承载的文化魅力,激发会员深入学习英语的热情,让口语融入生活、融入节日、融入娱乐,全面提高我校学生的英语掌握水平。

六、活动流程

(一)热场(20min):入场来宾自由交谈、吃零食喝饮料活跃气氛。

(二)开幕(15min):主持人开场、介绍嘉宾,播放一段与万圣节有关的稍微恐怖并且欢快的视频,并以PPT为引主持开始节目。

(三)节目(30min):由歌曲串烧(10min)、舞蹈表演(10min)、歌曲solo(5min)三部分组成。

(四)游戏(40min):分别在三个节目之后进行三个游戏(一个节目后面一个游戏),第一个节目结束后通过击鼓传花(三枚)选定幸运者,进行大冒险游戏(10min);第二个节目结束后进行相同的击鼓传花大冒险游戏(10min);最后一个节目结束后通过扮鬼抓人(四名“鬼”选定十个幸运者)选定幸运者做奖惩游戏。(15min)

(五)闭幕(5min):主持人宣布活动进入自由环节,来宾随意活动。

(一)人员:热场、自由活动环节背景音乐由琴行负责。

宣传等工作由英语角成员负责。

(二)宣传:通过短信通知所有会员;于留学生公寓发放邀请函,邀请函上用简练的英文说明活动大体情况。

(三)细节:

1、节目内容

1)歌曲串烧为英语角成员先后表演Rihanna的歌曲 Love The Way You Lie、M2M的歌曲Pretty Boy、Kelly clarkson的歌曲Because Of You、Adele的歌

曲Someone Like You四首的片段及合唱Westlife的歌曲My Love,演唱同时播放歌曲MV。

2)舞蹈表演同时呈现气氛活跃、主题效果与舞蹈相

契合的图片。

3)独唱歌曲为英语角Boss郭亚文表演的方大同的歌 ___________________________________________________________ 湖南大学英语口语协会

曲Wonderful Tonight,表演同时呈现歌曲MV。

2、大冒险游戏内容:大冒险所抽签依旧由为英文版,共八 枚:

1)登台大声喊三次“向我开炮”。

Shout‘Fire on me’loudly for three times on the stage.2)抱着一位异性直到下一轮真心话大冒险结束。(限

男士)

Hold a girl until the next round ends.(You

must be a boy)

3)背起一位异性绕场一周。

4)在规定时间内调查在场三位女士的身高体重。Inquire about three girl’s height and weight within a given time.(Girls can refuse to tell him or her.).5)向在场任意一位来宾唱一首情歌。Sing a love song to anyone present.6)随意拨打手机里一个异性的电话并向其表白。Give any member of the opposite sex a call to show your love to him or her.7)和最近的一名异性换穿上衣。

Exchange your coat with the closest member of the opposite sex and put on it.8)深情吻墙十秒。

2、奖惩游戏内容:十名幸运者所接受“鬼”的“赠礼”上台,所接受的卡片中,四枚卡片写有单数,六枚卡片写有双数。抽到单数卡片的幸运者领取奖励礼品,抽到双数卡片的幸运者分组进行咬苹果的游戏:卡片数字加和为十的两人一组(共三组),每组两个同学面对面咬一颗由绳子拴住悬空的苹果。先咬到的一组有礼品。

八、注意事项

(一)活跃气氛,干事均匀融入会员中,带动全场。

(二)及时发现和解决活动中的突发情况:

1、如有幸运者不懂游戏规则,由英语角成员耐心解释。

2、如有幸运者不愿参与游戏,不可强求,可结束该轮。

3、注意灯光排布,现场地势复杂,全力保证来宾安全。

4、若当天白天下雨,则另做打算;若活动中下雨,想办 借雨伞,来宾去留自愿,活动继续直到结束。

5、其他突发情况本着协会精神应变处理。

I had not visited Eton for many years, when one day passing from the Fellow’s Library into the Gallery I caught sight of the portrait of my school-friend Digby Dolben hanging just without the door among our most distinguished contemporaries.I was wholly arrested, and as I stood gazing on it, my companion asked me if I knew who it was.I was thinking that, beyond a few whom I could name, I must be almost the only person who would know.Far memories of my boyhood were crowding freshly upon me: he was standing again beside me in the eager promise of his youth;I could hear his voice;nothing of him was changed;while I, wrap from him in a confused mist of time, was wondering what he would think, could he know that at this actual moment he would have been dead thirty years, and that his memory would be thus preserved and honored in the beloved school, where his delicate spirit had been so strangely troubled.This portrait-gallery of old Etonians is very select: preeminent distinction of birth or merit may win you a place there, or again official connection with the school, which right loves to keep up an unbroken panorama of its teachers, and to vivify its annals with the faces and figures of the personalities who carried on its traditions.But how came Dolben there? Robert Bridges 译文赏析:

1、原文:“Far memories of my boyhood were crowding freshly upon me: he was standing again beside me in the eager promise of his youth。”

译文:“少年时代的遥远记忆就像才发生一样向我簇拥而来:他又一次站在我身旁,年轻、踌躇满志。“

这句翻译的很好。首先,作者把 ”freshly“ 译为”像才发生一样“,而我认为这一点比刘士聪先生译为”鲜活地涌进“更为合理。在汉语里用“鲜活地”显得很奇怪,因为“鲜活地”修饰后面的动作“涌进”,涌进不能说是“鲜活”,只能说是“迅速地”或者“大量地”。其次,”in the eager promise of his youth”译为“年轻、踌躇满志”也很巧妙。译者并没有死板得按照英文的语法顺序,而事实上这样做也根本行不通。把 ”youth” 译为汉语中的“年轻”,名词转化为形容词,而“eager promise”在理解意义的基础上找出对应的汉语四字结构,既语义准确,又没有丢掉英文的文笔。刘士聪先生译为“焕发着青春的风采”,显得有些平淡无味。

2、原文:while I, wrap from him in a confused mist of time, was wondering what he would think, could he know that at this actual moment he would have been dead thirty years, and that his memory would be thus preserved and honored in the beloved school, where his delicate spirit had been so strangely troubled.译文:然而,当我被关于他的时间之雾包围时,我好奇他会怎么想,他是否知道在他去世30年后的这一刻,他的记忆会因此得以保存并受人敬仰,就在这所名校中,在他微妙的灵魂一度被奇怪地困扰的地方。

我认为这部分翻译的有失妥当,可以参照刘士聪先生译文:“同时我在寻思着,因为与他之间相隔一段宛若迷雾的年月,假如他知道在这一时刻他已经死了三十年,他可爱的母校在以这样的方式纪念他,给他这样高的荣誉,而他上学时,他脆弱的心灵曾经莫名其妙地烦恼过,他会作怎样的感想呢?”

试译:而我与他相隔迷雾般萦绕的时间,寻思如果他知道此时他已逝世三十年,并被他所深爱的母校——他的脆弱灵魂曾感受无端困惑的地方——缅怀和敬仰,他会怎么想。

3、原文:…which right loves to keep up an unbroken panorama of its teachers, and to vivify its annals with the faces and figures of the personalities who carried on its traditions.译文:他们热衷于维持师生之间不变的全景画,热衷于让那些与继承学校传统的面貌形象有关的校史记录保持鲜活。

这一句话译者自己也没有理解原文意思,所以翻译出来就更加抽象难懂。可以参照刘士聪译文:“而校方也希望完整地再现教师队伍的全貌,使那些保持了学校传统的名人形象构成的校史有生气。”
