Don’t go to the Murk

Don’t go to the Murk

I had always thought myself tough, one of the people who could survive if I’d been sent to the barren island without water and food.In my past 24 years, I suffered a series of physical losses, even suffered a terrible traffic accident 5 years ago which made me lied in the hospital about 3 months. But I didn’t cry, I didn’t care, I didn’t fear, and went through the hard time intact with a peace and strong heart.I always impose myself as the X-Man, wolverine, who can recover quickly after any injuries.Dear friends, this is Murk, lastyear, I lost my super power, and go to the murk.I have broken up the 6 years relationship with my girlfriend, I drop into a deep sadness, andit seems I lost all of my vitality, I don’t want to eat, I don’t want to talk, Idon’t want to sleep. One day, I wake up from my bed,I found that I am also scared to get out of the bed even half year past afterthe separation.I don’t know what the problem is, I wish I did, but I don’t,but I think, I think I am not so tough as I think, I think maybe I am not the people who can survive in the barren island without water and food, I think I am the man Murk should go to the murk.3months later, I also felt terrible, and I also realize that it is depression.Yes,I suffer from depression. You may say, WOW, are you kidding me? Murk!(In your imagination I am the person like this, 2 but the depression is like this,)Andthat's also ironic to me, but I accepted, I accepted that I am not good even the sadness of the broken passed more than half years.See,somebody might fear snake, somebody might fear his boss, somebody might fear to take a speech in the public like what I am doing now, but for me, I fear separation,I fear lost, I fear my vulnerability, and that fear made me feel like I was weak! It’s very hard to say I am weak as a man, so I accepted it and hide it, I accepted it and hide it, it’s a sensation of being afraid all the time, but not even knowing what it is that Iam afraid of.That’s the depression, the depression I suffered.TodayI would say I am appreciated of myself in that time, because I struggled against my depression bravely.I don’t know why but I did.So I tried someways, read the depression related books, practice Yoga, see comedy movies,,ButI tell you the truth;all of them are completely useless. Finally, one day I wasvery hungry and I cook some spaghetti for myself.Take a guess, what happen?

Ifelt good and comfortable unprecedentedly when I was cooking, and that feeling made me feel like I was forced into a garden with the flowers with wind with sunshine, but without depression.Wowa,It seems I found the effective way to break down the depression. So I kept cookingevery day.I am creating a world belongto myself with the rice, with the vegetable, with the seafood, with the taste, but without the depression.Fortunately, I felt better and better, and more, fortunately, my cooking was also getting better and better. Now, to be totally honest, I would like tostand here to say and to talk about the depression I suffered, partly said, becauseI passed, I passed the sadness under my smile, passed the dark under my light, passed the pain under my personality, passed the vulnerability under my strongheart. In a lot of ways I am grateful my experience, yeah it's put me inthe low, but only to show me there's peaks, and yeah it's dragged me throughthe murk but only to remind me there is light.Butfor someone who is suffering, it’s very hard for them to talk about, I knowbecause the depression, it’s not happy, it’s not funny, it’s not light, andit’s not positive. We are so, so, so accepting of any body part breaking downother than our brains and so, so, so caring of any physical health other thanthe mental health which we can’t see it.Well, let me start to show you some parts of the shadow.Whatever you are sufferingor you have experienced depression, however you hated being depressed, youshould know that it’s OK, the depression is Okay, and know that you are not weak, but sick,it’s not a personality label but a psychologicalissue.Once you passed, you can see what the depression really is, the fear, the ridicule, the vulnerability, all of them are the part of your life, justpart of yourself. That's a natural human character. We're people. The truestrength doesn’t mean never showing any weakness because we're people, and wehave problems. We're not perfect, and that's okay.Shutting up the depressionstrengthens it, while you hide from it, it grows, but if you are able totolerate the fact, finally you will find a way to break down the depression, because it will force you to find and cling to joy.So, we need to stop the shadow, stop the numbness, stop the silence, and takeaway the taboos, to take up your vitality, to speak out the situation what youare suffering. And more than anything, learn to love ourselves, learn to acceptourselves for who we are, the people we are, not the people others want us tobe.If you are suffering from depression and don’t know how to do firstly, maybe youcan learn from me, just do what you want to do and have fun in it.Ladies and gentleman, this is Murk, from the murk.

Thoughts after reading of Don Quixote

Don Quixote is written by Miguel de Cervantes a famous writer of Spain. It has been around for four hundred years, and has inspired virtually every literary movement from the eighteenth-century picaresque以歹徒为题材的to the most obscure模糊works of twenty-first century postmodernism.

The concept of the novel is simple: Alonso Quixano, landowner from La Mancha, is stricken with a fixation for books about knights and castles, wizards and maidens, dragons and giants, and generally any story having to do with fabulous adventures that never really happened.Driven mad by the inconsistencies of plot, character and philosophy that fill each volume of these seventeenth-century precursors to the fantasy novel, Quixano resolves to restore dignity to the lost profession of knight-errantry, named himself Don Quixote de La Mancha, assembles a rudimentary sword, suit of armor, and horse(the eternally-suffering-and-spavined Rocinante), and sets out into Spain in his quest for glory. In return for this act of hysterical faith歇斯底里的信念, he finds violent innkeepers民宿, malevolent thieves, cynical shepherds, sadistic nobility, and even an inferior Quixote impostor. The first few scenes involve Quixote alone against the contemporary world, but before a hundred pages have elapsed Cervantes introduces Sancho Panza, Quixote's gullible, bloated and homily-spouting squire, who in conjunction with Quixote provides the spark for endlessly bizarre discussions in which Quixote's heightened, insane conception of the world is brought crashing to earth by Sancho's sly pragmatism discussions which occasionally end with Quixote threatening to pummel Sancho in order to shut him up

Once joined together, it's very difficult to imagine Don Quixote and Sancho ever being split apart: the two are the original comic duo, locked into perpetually and mutually exclusive views of the world, and in and of themselves--whether Sancho is being asked to give himself hundreds of lashes in order to disenchant Quixote's swineherd love interest, Dulcinea, or whether Quixote is mixing a potion based on olive oil and bitter herbs that will, in theory, cure all of Sancho's Quixote-caused earthly wounds--the Knight and the Squire personifies the thematic conflict that propels the work.In general, this is why Don Quixote remains one hell of a read--even today. The reader faces, in the same moment, an ideal view of the world(the world as enchanted, antiquated, idyllic)and the brutal facts of the actual world(the world as material, modern, loath to believe in knights.)

Quixote hacks at the belly of ogres in an inn basement, and is rewarded by a jet of wine in his face and a hefty bill for damages. He tries to rid the land of giants, and is spun, lance-first, by a powerful windmill he spears in the attempt. He attempts to liberate a statue of the Virgin Mary, which he believes to be a damsel in distress, from her captors, and in return is beaten up by priests.Throughout, Sancho is there to say exactly what the reader is likely thinking--those aren't giants;Dulcinea isn't beautiful;none of this can be real--only to be rewarded with a lecture from Don Quixote about how he is beset by enchanters, who frustrate his every move by replacing the facts of his world, at the last moment, with devil's illusions that bear an uncomfortable resemblance to our own reality. It's a single joke repeated across a thousand pages, and yet it's strong enough to bring a laugh every time.Quixote's insistence on his own madness in the face of innumerable arguments to the contrary, many of which take the form of cat scratches, cracked bones and missing teeth, makes him an interesting character because we know--or we think we know--that Quixote is just wrong.Yet, despite all of the pain he suffers in pursuit of that wrong, he continues to believe that he's right. So we read on page-after-page, waiting to see how much more the man who believes himself a knight is able to take before he gives in--whether, in the end, Quixote will give in at all.We read not only for page-after-page, but for year-after-year, century-after-century, pulled by the cognitive dissonance that surrounds the knight like his own cloud of malicious enchanters恶意的附魔师.In the process, just as Quixote builds his castles from inns and criminal campfires, so we build castles of speculation from what we find in Cervantes's Spain, at once so brutally real and so dream-like, the realm of archetype and myth founded on dreary life. We, like Don Quixote, are driven to hallucinate by what might be, in the end, just a very good story. With Don Quixote, Cervantes has accomplished an enduring act of literary alchemy: just as Quixote is combined with Sancho, so is fantasy combined with reality, the eternal with the everyday, and like the combination of matter and anti-matter物质和反物质, the explosion of aesthetic爆炸审美power is, in magnitude, infinite, propelling readers推进器from the earth--at first facing inward at what was left behind on the page, then, forgetting the earth, outward into meaning--farther and farther toward the dream-like stars.

Unit12 Don

七年级英语下册Unit12 Don’t eat in class.

本节课的教学目标在前面我已经提到,为了更好的完成教学目标我主要设计了如下几个小环节;

Don Quixote

When It Is Flowering, Just Respond to It

—A book report on Don Quixote

When one is born, he enters into an implied contract with life—It is him that the choice of a response entirely rests with. But when life confronts us with discordant notes, some of ussomehow tend to fulfill this contract bysurrendering our response, which gradually causes our ambitions and dreams to fade away.Don Quixote is wiser than most of us on this point, for he is always facing the music and keeping an optimistic mind. When Iinitially read this novel, I just regarded Don Quixote as a clown who simply created an illusion empire and kept himself in his own world. As I finished more stories which seemed to repeat the former ones merely in a different place, I knew for sure that my previous understanding of Don Quixote didn’t hold water. In this novel, every time Don Quixote began his adventure, trouble followed. It’s an open secret to everyone around Don Quixote that he was a joke or even worse, a wet blanket. And he must have realized that at the very beginning. But he never put an end to his adventure.Either being laughed at or being unwelcome could hurt even the strongest soul, let alone Don Quixote, an old senior who just wanted to taste what being a knight was like.I imagined for several times that there must be a great many times that Don Quixote tossed and turned over the long and sleepless night, being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.So it dawned on me that hidden behind his funny actions was some power which leaded him to follow his dream without any compliment and without a hesitation.I think this wondrous power is his attitude to the implied contract—refusing surrendering his response and facing discordant notes. Not only does Don Quixote’ wisdom lie in his attitude to the implied contract, but also in his attitude to these discordant notes.Every timewhen his servant Sancho complained to him about their difficult life, Don Quixote always encouraged him to take a grip on himself and take the rough with smooth. Also, when others laughed at him and his dream, he didn’t take that veryseriously. What’s more, after a defeat in a fighting, he just dressed his wound, re-ride his horse, hummed a tune, leaded his servant and re-started their new adventure. In this way, he regained his confidence. So Don Quixote shows us an optimistic attitude toward future where our dream is waving hands to us.Don Quixote showed us a special kind of life which we have no time to experience in our literal life. However, by reading this novel, we can find mirror images of some parts of our life and chalk up a win by learning Don Quixote’ wisdom.SometimesI wonder what answer Dan Quixote will give us ifquestioned“what’s your motto of life?”“when it is flowering, just respond to it”, I guess…
