1)He is blue today because his father is ill.

2)He has a green thumb.

Before his marriage, his room was often at sixes and sevens.

She is a beautiful girl in a thousand.

Why do you always come at the eleventh hour and keep everyone waiting for you?

His father is a three-bottle man.

半斤八两:six of one and half a dozen of the other

十月怀胎:a woman in the sixth month

十有八九:ten to one

Never offer to teach fish to swim.

All is fish that comes to his net.(进到网里的都是鱼)这条谚语的比喻意义是“任何有用的东西或有好处的事都来者不拒”,含有贬义。

The best fish swim near the bottom.(好鱼居水底)比喻“有价值的东西不会轻易得到”。

Do in Rome as the Romans do. Rome was not built in a day. All roads lead to Rome. Every dog has his own day.(每只狗都有他的好时光。) An old dog barks not in rain.(老狗不乱吠。) Dog does not eat dog.(狗不吃狗。) Love me, love my dog.(喜欢我,也要喜欢我的狗。)

例如,Man proposes, God disposes. God helps those who help themselves.

Every man must carry his own cross.(每个人必须背他自己的十字架。) Do not fear going slow, only fear standing still. beat swords into ploughs We widen our views 3 hundred miles by ascending one flight of stairs.
