人才资源是第一资源。当今世界，经济全球化不断深入，科技革命酝酿新的突破，国际竞争日益激烈。这种竞争归根到底是教育的竞争、人才的竞争。无论是巩固和增强香港竞争力，还是促进国家改革开放和现代化建设，都需要发展和提升教育。相信港大和香港教育界一定能够继续发挥特色、融汇创新，广泛集聚资源，不断提升优势，为香港和国家的发展多育人才、多出成果、多做贡献。

Human resource is the most important thing in the world now.The deepening of economic globalization calls for new breakthroughs, leading to severe competition, esp.of education and talents.We need to develop and elevate education no matter in the way of consolidating and strengthening the competitiveness of HK or in the way of promoting China’s reform and opening-up and modernization.I’m convinced that HKU and the other higher-learning institutions will continue to develop their advantages, integrate, innovate, and extensively pool resources with a view to fostering more talents, producing more fruits, and making more contributions.培养新型人才对教育事业提出了新的要求，大学不仅承担着传播知识、科学研究的责任，而且肩负着传承文化、服务社会的使命，港大百年校庆的主题是“知识、传承、服务”，这反映了教育促进人的全面发展的理念和功能。香港高校背靠祖国，又置身于国际化大都市，在弘扬中华优秀文化、提升香港文化品质、丰富社会精神方面，可以发挥重要作用；在优化人力资源的配置、促进教学科研成果的应用、使广大民众参与和共享社会发展进步方面，也大有可为。

Fostering new type of talents entails new requirements for education.Universities not only shoulder the responsibility of imparting knowledge and conducting scientific research, but also are endowed with the mission of inheriting culture and serving the society.This centennial ceremony’s theme is “knowledge, inheritance, and service”, which demonstrates the function of education: developing a whole person.Hong Kong universities, in the international metropolis, can play significant roles in carrying on Chinese fine traditions and cultures, elevating HK culture, and enriching the social culture.They also have great possibilities in optimizing human resource allocation, promoting the application of teaching and research fruits, appealing to civilians to be actively engaged in and sharing social progress, etc..香港的繁荣与祖国的建设，需要千千万万掌握现代知识技能、熟悉国情区情、通晓国际规则的人才，需要加强内地和香港教育交流。在这方面，香港和内地已经建立了有效的合作机制，采取了许多措施。今天在我们庆祝港大百年的时候，我想特别的告诉大家，从明年开始，中央有关部门将设立专项资金，每年支持1000名港大的学生和老师到内地去学习、考察和开展科研工作；同时，国家将支持香港其他高校与内地高校开展广泛而深入的合作，为帮助师生们了解内地、熟悉国情提供条件，促进内地和香港教育科技事业的共同发展。

The prosperity of HK and the construction of our motherland need countless talents who’re equipped with modern knowledge and techniques, familiar with national situations, know well international routines.Thus we need to enhance the educational exchanges between HK and the mainland.In this regard, HK and the mainland have established efficient mechanism of cooperation and adopted many measures.Today when we celebrate the centennial of HKU, I’d like to tell you, in particular, that, from the next year, the central government will set up exclusive fund and sponsor 1000 faculty members and students to study, inspect, and conduct research in the mainland;in the meanwhile, it will also sponsor the other higher-learning institutions to conduct extensive and in-depth cooperation with the mainland ones, helping HK faculty and students know more about the mainland as well as promoting the mutual development of the educational and scientific, and technological cause of HK and the mainland.老师们、同学们、朋友们！

第四篇：清华大学百年校庆和香港大学百年校庆有哪些不同之处

1911年，几乎同时，清政府创办了清华大学，港英政府创办了香港大学。2011年，两校同时迎来百年华诞。先大概介绍一下两校的由来：

清华大学（英语：Tsinghua University，简称：THU），原称国立清华大学、清华学校、清华学堂。创建于1911年，最初为清政府利用美国退还的部分庚子赔款所建立留美预科学校―遊美学务处‖及附设―肄业馆‖，自1925年始设大学部。

香港大学（英语：The University of Hong Kong，简称 HKU），香港第一所大学，由1887年成立的「香港西医学院」及「香港官立技术专科学校」合并而成，大学于1911年在香港岛正式创立，孙中山为港大医学院首届毕业生。

** 注意到其实清华的大学部是1925年才创立的。或者按照清华的算法，香港大学应算1887就有了。（这些细枝末节的差异不足为怪，学校都流行把历史算的悠久些。我的高中动辄就说自己二百八十多年校庆，笑我蛋疼。）

两校同为顶尖学府，根据QS世界大学排名（以及英国泰晤士报的排名）香港大学连续三年力压东京大学排名亚洲第一，世界第21。清华只稍逊风骚，摇摆于世界50名上下，但仍当之无愧一流大学。

其实我认为大学排名是件很愚蠢的事情，细究一下排名的算法，发现两校很多方面都不相伯仲。清华只在三项上明显落后：―国际教师素质‖，―国际学生素质‖和―学术期刊发表质量‖。前两项只是因为清华受到了中文教研的制约，属于客观因素。至于最后衡量学术产出的那项，我认为当归咎于内地学术界风气不振，学霸官僚做派盛行。这使得很多留美优秀的年轻教授不敢直接回国任教，往往他们选择以香港为归国跳板，在香港的大学拼到功成名就后，再回国自己摇身变成学霸或官僚，这样一来，这些人学术活力最盛，产出最高的那些年都贡献给了香港大学。（这样的例子比比皆是，例如白重恩，李稻葵，汪丁丁。有兴趣的人可以看看清华经管或北大CCER的牛教授名单，看看他们中有多少人是在香港熬出头后回去圈地圈钱的。）

** 其实三校间密切的人事流动（还有北大）可不仅是近年来的事情。追溯回1911年，当时的中国何等的饥寒贫弱，后又饱经战乱之苦，使得近代中国很多学术泰斗都选择安身香港。（如北大老校长蔡元培死在香港大学）这却成就了早期的香港大学，一时成了学界泰斗们的集结地。

言归正传，这两所关系如此紧密的学府在百年校庆的方案却大为不同。管中窥豹可见一斑，也许以此可以体察一下两地大学氛围的区别：

随着胡core莅临母校，校长书记率千余众恭迎圣驾，清华百年校庆终于到达了高潮。这些日子清华百年之庆祝舆论沸沸扬扬，―人人网好友新鲜事‖每天都被我那几百个表忠心的清华兄弟们刷屏。相比之下，香港大学的百年校庆却低调得让人不可思议。低调得颇有梅花之风范，―俏也不争春，只把春来报；待到山花烂漫时，她在从中笑‖ 香港大学官方说，客观上大学没有具体的诞辰日，于是百年校庆不设具体日子。一切从简，各种小型学术性纪念活动分散安排，跨度约为一年。反之，清华的百年校庆有明确具体的日期，4月23号（今天），我不清楚这个校庆日是如何确立的。

唯独一个算是政商界人士的研讨会是―对话美国前财长保尔森‖

（印象就五个字：真他妈学术。）。。。。

记得当年在北大读书的时候，经院有个叫曹和平的教授曾经语重心长的跟我们抱怨：―现在北大的孩子们很多愿意跑去香港。肤浅….香港哪里是个做学问的地方？那个地方太浮躁….‖ 现在想想，我笑了。

。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。

p.s.1: 还有一些有趣的细节： 港大有几个在商界政界叱诧风云的校友（比如，曾钰成，任志刚，梁锦松，陈方安生，范徐丽泰）也回母校逛了逛，可是校方没敢有大动静，估计是怕再被学生会痛骂―重商重官‖。学生会算你们丫狠，李嘉诚好心捐了10个亿也被骂成屎，现在大家都学乖了，捐钱都去清华捐。我确实觉得香港大学的舆论对商人和官员也太过敏感了，当年温总来演讲，有人跳出来痛斥学校谄媚。我哥们儿陈子坚（主席）应陈云林邀请赴京参加国庆活动又被人指献媚。

不过这点我很羡慕清华，主要还是胡总太牛逼，罩的住，不服不行。就算港大再清高，如果孙中山从石棺里爬出来回访母校逛逛，徐立之也该马首是瞻的。

p.s.2: 香港大学与清华既是同年诞生，想毕当年定有一番渊源。我怀揣好奇，想在网上查找早年港大与清华间的趣闻轶事。怎知网上普天盖地的都是关于―上清华还是上港大‖的骂战。原来是近些年来有媒体炒作清华北大二流说，又莫名其妙的把香港大学推到风口浪尖。借高考状元比例来调拨关系，小爷我最愤恨大学之间较劲（同样反敢Stanford-Berkeley死磕, 更反敢常青藤联校内部死磕）一是因为如此目光短浅，像井底之蛙一般；二是参与者多有利用母校抬高自己的嫌疑。―不自限其昏与庸而力学不倦者，自力者也‖，学问本来就是自己在做，学校给的只是环境。清华园走出的永远人才济济，藏龙卧虎（谁不服可以单挑当今圣上和太子）。说清华二流的人，你们自己又是几流呢？

p.s.3: 我一直在犹豫是否写此文，因为略有给清华高调校庆泼冷水的嫌疑。我人生中实在有太多出自清华的铁哥们儿，不可以扫大家的兴。其实我只是拿香港大学和清华为例子讽刺一下内地学界的浮躁。清华还是清华，自强不息，厚德载物的清华；遵循行胜于言的清华。浮躁是全社会的写照，与清华无关。（香港大学也很浮躁，不一样的浮躁法，回头有空再细说。）

p.s.4: 今天写的多有赞美母校之意，也算一表忠心了。其实我很内疚了，看到我这么多清华哥们儿纷纷表达对母校的思念和敬意，我觉得自己对母校关注的实在太少了（我是上个月才意识到，原来香港大学也一百岁了。）其实我跟母校的感情并不深（找打），主要是去了香港之后仍对燕园的岁月与一帮兄弟们念念不忘。再加上港大对我功课成绩上的压迫与北大的轻松活泼形成了反差，让我一直没有在情感上将自己和母校绑定在一起。那时的我，颇有些生当港大男，死当北大鬼的意思。现在想想，虽然我不敢用母校来抬高自己，不过还是打心眼里为母校而感到骄傲。

衷心祝愿香港大学越来越好，因为她是我的母校。衷心祝愿清华大学越来越好，因为她是家乡的大学。

一百年前，她们的诞生都出于一个目的：师夷长技以自强，that’s all that matters….

尊敬的李克强副总理，袁贵仁部长，校监先生，各位来宾，各位香港大学大家庭的成员：

And, on behalf of The University of Hong Kong, I would like to welcome you to the University this morning and, at the same time,thank you for coming to celebrate with us the University’s Centenary.我谨代表香港大学欢迎各位莅临本校，并多谢大家出席今天的百周年校庆典礼。

The last century has witnessed tremendous changes in Hong Kong,China and around the world, be it technological,economical,social or political.回顾过去一个世纪，香港大学见证了香港、中国、以至全球，在科技、经济、社会和政治方面翻天覆地的转变。

The University has also moved with the times over the past 100 years and evolved from an institute with only three areas of studies to a comprehensive university of many disciplines.As members of the international academe, we share the global challenges at the forefront of higher education developments.在过去这一百年，香港大学与时并进，由一所只有三个学院的教育机构，发展成为今日设有多元学科的综合型大学。港大作为国际学术界一员，与同侪共同面对全球高等教育发展的种种挑战。

Indeed,the birth of this first and foremost University was an important part of the history of Hong Kong and China.It was the result of the combined efforts of the two governments,in Hong Kong and in Canton(now Guangdong),despite the rather delicate Sino-British relations in the last years of the Qing Dynasty.It could have been an impossible dream, had it not been for those who believed in the need for a university in Hong Kong and the generosity of those who wished to see one built for China and the world.作为香港的第一所大学，香港大学的诞生绝对是香港和中国历史的重要一部份。虽然当时正值英国与晚清关系微妙时期，但在香港与广东政府共同努力下，港大结果顺利成立。当然，这个梦想最终能够如愿以偿，全赖一群深信香港需要建立一所大学的有识之士，以及一众希望能够为中国及世界建立一所优质大学的热心人士的慷慨捐助。

The University of Hong Kong was formally established in 1911;however,it has been a constant debate among our alumni and the community at large as to whether the University should be dated back to 1887,the year when the College of Medicine for Chinese was established in Hong Kong.Adding to this debate was the famous quote from Dr Sun Yat-sen,one of the first graduates of the College:Hesaid,“I feel as though I have returned home because Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong are the birthplace of my knowledge.”That was what Dr Sun told the students in this great hall,back in 1923.香港大学于1911年正式成立，然而，我们的旧生与社会大众经常讨论应否追溯至1887年，以港大前身-香港西医书院成立之时为始；尤其是该书院首届毕业生孙中山先生，在1923年，就在这个大礼堂内，与学生所说的一番话，他说：“我有如游子归家，因为香港与香港大学是我知识的诞生地”。

Despite these academic arguments,generations of scholars,students and alumni have so shaped HKU that it has gained a momentum of its own,transcending time and changes,as a university should.The enlightenment of teaching and learning at the University is now further enriched by the wealth of groundbreaking research.Our graduates have moved beyond careers in

the civil service,to all sectors of society,and they have moved beyond Hong Kong.儘管经常有这种学术争论，但在历代的学者、学生及校友的共同努力下，港大跨越了时间与转变的考验，成为一所充满动力的学府。港大除了提供活泼的教学与学习环境外，亦已成为许多突破性研究的发展基地。我们的毕业生除加入政府服务或投身香港不同机构，在各个领域发挥所长外，还在海外开创事业，作出贡献。

HKU remains a guardian of knowledge,an incubator of ideas and innovations,a cradle for new intellect and talent,and a pioneer in social consciousness and responsibility.今天的香港大学一如既往，是知识的捍卫者、创意和创新的孕育者，是新进知识份子和人才的摇篮，以及社会良知和责任的先驱者。

Indeed, universities are among the most enduring institutions of any society;they are its soul and they bring hope.诚然，大学是任何社会中最历久不衰的机构，也是社会的灵魂，为大家带来希望。

It is in this spirit that we celebrate our Centenary and look into the future.Let me elaborate this further,in three aspects.我们秉持这种精神和价值，在庆祝创校一百周年的同时，亦展望未来。在此，本人想从三方面加以阐释。

First,despite variations of the relationship between Hong Kong and its motherland,the University of Hong Kong has never ceased to play its unique role in contributing to China’s modernization.Apart from Sun Yat-sen,many alumni have contributed directly to the development of the Mainland in the past Century.Inaddition,HKU graduates have played essential parts in building the great modern metropolis of Hong Kong,which in turn has proved to be an asset to its motherland.首先，纵使香港与祖国的关系微妙多变，但香港大学对推动中国走向现代化的使命，始终如一。除了孙中山先生之外，许多位卓越的校友亦曾为建设中国贡献良多。再者，港大毕业生对于建设香港这个现代化大都会一直不遗馀力，亦间接成为了祖国发展的一大资产。

However,as China moves forward, HKU must assume the responsibility to play an even bigger role at a higher level,to support and fulfill the nation’s economic and social needs HKU must see and establish itself as a key institution in China.然而，随着中国继续向前迈进，香港大学亦将肩负更重要的使命，以迎合中国经济和社会的发展需要。为达成此目标，港大应当视自己为中国的一所重要的学府，并在这方面奠定自己的地位。

Second,a hundred years ago, HKU was already an international hub for intellectuals,as most,if not all,of the teachers were expatriates and two-thirds of the students were non-Chinese.Notwithstanding fluctuations in the past century, HKU has retained its international outlook.We are privileged to have a great assembly of the finest scholars, brightest students and world citizens from diverse background and cultures, all under one roof.第二，即使在一百年以前，港大已经是国际知识份子的汇集之地。我们的教师大部份为海外教授，而三分之二的学生为非华裔。尽管经历百年的风云变幻，港大的国际定位始终不变。今天，我们汇聚了无数的优秀学者、精英学生以及拥有多元文化背景的世界公民，这些都成就了我们的优势。

This international composition, which has grown well beyond the original legacy,has made us the unusual test case of being the most international institution within a Chinese community on Chinese soil.In an increasingly globalised world, HKU also has a clear responsibility to further bridge China and the world,and to facilitate the process of internationalization of higher education in China.在丰富的历史背景下，这个国际化的社群，令我们成为中国领土上华人社群中最国际化的学府。在这个全球化发展一日千里的世代，港大毫无疑问地担当着桥梁的角色，推进中国与世界沟通,亦将推动中国高等教育走向国际化。

Third, we cannot pretend that we are living in a stable and peaceful world.We face natural disasters almost everyday,energyshortages,globalwarming,emerging infectious diseases, recurring epidemics,man-made accidents, precarious economic crises,abrupt social turmoil and unwanted wars.We know that some of these are unavoidable, so we have to do our best to mitigate or learn to overcome their effects with our scientific knowledge and technological advancements.For the entirely avoidable ones, however, we have a responsibility to safeguard sustainable development,and to champion the restoration of human values.第三，我们必须明白，我们身处的世界并非稳定和平。我们每天面对不断发生的天灾事故、能源短缺、全球暖化、突如其来的传染疾病、一再发生的大型疫症，再加上种种的人为意外、难以预料的经济危机、突发的社会**，还有令人扼腕的战乱纷争。我们知道上述种种问题，有时无可避免，正因如此，我们更应当凭科学知识和崭新科技，尽力减轻和克服这些问题。可是，对于能够加以避免的难题时，我们确有责任争取可持续发展，捍卫人文价值的重建。

In this respect,we have to thank HKU’s founders for their wisdom in choosing the brilliant university motto“mingdegewu”(明德格物).为此，我们为港大创校先贤留给我们“明德格物”这句校训心存感恩。

Ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to switch to Chinese for a moment.“明德”、“格物”是香港大学的校训。二语都出自“四书”中的《大学》，是儒家“修身齐家治国平天下”的学说。简单来说，港大学生需要“明德”，使与生俱来的光明皎洁的德性，彰显出来，并将它发扬光大，推己及人；同时，又必需要有“格物”这个基本工夫，来穷究事物的原理，追求渊博的知识。从“格物”、“致知”，到“明明德于天下”，不只是求学的道理，也是做人的道理。

所以我们很感谢先贤给我们的校训–“明德”、“格物”；这个道理不只是适用于过去港大的一百年、或者是中华文化的五千年，在今天和将来的地球村更是意义重大。而我们校训的拉丁文版本（Sapientia et Virtus）也是从中文翻译过去的。

Ladies and gentlemen, I just explained the origin of our HKU motto, which came from the Chinese Classic Great Learning.Although it was beautifully translated into Latin: Sapientia et Virtus,meaning wisdom and virtue, in English, the translation could only capture part of the original essence.各位来宾，刚才我用中文粗略解析港大校训内容，是源自“四书”中的《大学》，虽然译成优美的拉丁文Sapientia et Virtus，即英文的wisdom和virtue，但这个翻译也许仍未能完全捕捉原文的神髓。

In any case, it is in the context of wisdom and virtue that we celebrate our Centenary.The dimensions of“knowledge, heritage and service”represent the missions of our multiple roles to be a knowledge hub for learning and research, a cultural crossroads where East meets West and the past illuminates the future, and a service platform where the University nurtures global citizens and is itself nurtured by the community.今日我们庆祝创校一百周年，就是要发扬“明德”、“格物”的真义。我们以“知识、传承、服务”来展示大学的使命和任务：努力成为学习与研究的学术枢纽；荟萃东西文化以承先启后；建立一个培育国际公民，并为社会所珍惜的服务平台。

Amidst our festive celebrations,we could not help asking ourselves: What do we treasure? HKU is a community that cherishes openness, diversity and freedom, which have evolved into our core values.These values have made us a pluralistic and harmonious community of people from various backgrounds and diverse cultures.These same values have also liberated the intellectual potential among academics and students, and have hence unleashed the energies essential for sustaining and advancing a vibrant community of academic excellence.际此百年校庆，让我们反思一下，港大的核心价值在于什么？港大代表着一个重视开放思想、多元文化和崇尚自由的社群，这些价值均与港大的核心价值紧扣。这些价值让来自不同文化背景的人，能够建立一个多元而和谐的社群。正因为建基于这些价值观，释放了学者与学生之间的知识潜能，为孜孜不倦追求学术成就的社群注入了巨大的力量。

Ladies and Gentlemen,the University of Hong Kong had modest beginnings.It has been the hard work of all members of the HKU Family,which includes our staff,students and alumni,and the unfailing support of both the Government and the community at large,especially our donors and partners who believe in our cause,that have brought us to where we are today in the international arena.各位来宾，香港大学创始于谦微。它的成功来自港大这个大家庭的每一位成员，包括我们老师和学生的努力，校友、政府和广大市民的不断鼓励支持，尤其要感谢我们每一位捐助者，他们不但认同我们的目标，亦让我们能够昂然立足于今日的国际舞台上。

As the world continues to change,HKU will continue to evolve,and we are committed to keeping ourselves at the forefront of developments of humankind.We aim high,and tolerate no compromise in quality,ethics,socialresponsibility,and human values.We think globally,and position ourselves in the national context and the international arena.It will be our vision for excellence,our aspiration for freedom,our devotion to student learning.and,our commitment to society that will guide us through the next 100 years.世界瞬息万变，香港大学将会与时并进，致力作为人文发展进程的先驱。我们谨此订立崇高的目标，对求真、道德、社会责任、人文关怀，不容一丝妥协。我们会以国际思维，建立全国性与国际性的定位。放眼未来，我们将致力追求卓越，并以坚执自由、尽心教学、培育人才、传承智慧、贡献社会为信念，昂首阔步，迈向另一个100年。
