从音乐角度看《笑傲江湖》

不论中西文化，音乐与文学的关系自古以来便关系密切，中西皆然，只有内容及语言上之不同，并无高下之分。在中国传统文化中，音乐与文学往往有雅与俗的相对观念，这在金庸小说中有颇贴切的运用，可是到了徐克的电影，则有与中国音乐实际操作大相违背的处理。

本来小说与电影多虚构，不必全为事实，幻想力与创作力愈高，读者愈欣赏。但幻想与创作应以实际的常识为出发点，方有说服力。电影《笑傲江湖》（包括大部分港产片）若能在音乐及中国文化的理解上能令人信服，则我们最少不会有目前由电影带给观众在画面及音响上错乱百出的中国音乐理解。

为了讨论传统中国文化中，尤其是在四九年前文学上的雅俗观念，先说明两件中国乐器：古琴与胡琴。

正邪之分等闲事古琴七弦，身长，琴面有十三小圆点指示按弦的位置，称为十三徽，但无琴码（古筝有），为中国古代之重要乐器。相传孔子善琴，儒生四艺：琴、棋、书、画，即指此器，为旧时文人必修之艺。一直以来，在中国文学中，以此器最为高雅，非知音面前不弹，著名的「高山流水」典故即以子期、伯牙之友谊为寄托。而金庸在《笑傲江湖》中描写曲洋与刘正风之友谊，亦明显有子期伯牙故事的烙印。而以胡琴写莫大之俗，以古琴形容曲刘二人交情之雅（不分正邪），均为后来衬托任盈盈之雅铺路。

胡琴一词原指魏晋南北朝及隋唐时指从西域传来的胡琵琶，为拨弦乐器，曲项（指琴柄）四弦，直项五弦，形状与今日流行之四弦琵琶相似。约自宋代，下至明、清到今日，「胡琴」一词乃指弓弦类的拉奏乐器。京剧的主要伴奏乐器即名胡琴，一般叫「京胡」，其他弓弦乐器如二胡、高胡、板胡等均属胡琴类乐器。无论琵琶或二胡等胡琴，在中国旧文学上，均为俗乐的乐器，社会地位卑下，故金庸用胡琴（指弓弦类）形容莫大之悲凉落寞，亦有卑俗之意。

小说中对琴曲《广陵散》的描述小说中莫大以胡琴奏「潇湘夜雨」，按胡琴曲目中无此曲，金庸之灵感似得自他对古琴曲的认识。古琴有「潇湘水云」一曲，古筝有「蕉窗夜雨」一曲（客家汉乐），苏州弹词有「潇湘夜雨」一曲。金庸为吴人，应知弹词，而把古琴与古筝二曲之名合而为一，亦雅俗共冶之创作。

相传此曲即「聂政刺韩王」。嵇康临刑前奏此曲，并叹「广陵散」从此绝矣！成为成语「广陵绝响」的典故，指失传之物。但琴曲「广陵散」仍见于一四二五年朱权编的《神奇秘谱》，未知成语中绝响。蔡邕《蔡文姬之父）在「琴操」一文对此故事之描写极具电影感，简洁有力，集奇情、神怪、暴力、侠义、中国大男人主义、*儿女私情的冷血杀手、为扬儿名而殉义的母亲种种流行电影的素材，戏剧性与音乐性甚强。其故事亦明显有荆轲刺秦王的影子。

《神奇秘谱》中「广陵散」的序则交代了嵇康与此曲的历史。嵇康于古人处学得此曲（实非人，乃鬼），并应允誓不传人，加添了此曲的神秘色彩。其临终时先顾日影而弹，即计准时间，一曲既毕即行刑，可见其豁达从容。自以为此曲将成绝响，不料其甥袁孝尼已偷偷地于静夜听学此曲得三十三拍（段），后再续全曲，可见当时琴曲的创作观念，一曲非必由一人全作，弹琴之人若领会其曲意，亦可顺其曲意续作，此传统在今日仍有部分保留下来。在中国传统音乐中，改编前人作品多习以为常，并无西方之作者与作品完整之观念。作曲家的观念古代并不如近代清晰，创作空间在演奏者手中更大。

金庸显然是熟读《晋书》嵇康传及蔡邕《琴操》中有关聂政的故事的。他亦不讳言对嵇康任侠性格的仰慕（借曲洋口中道出）。而整部《笑傲江湖》的主题，其实借古琴谱之特徵为灵感，引伸出武林中人误以为琴谱是武功秘笈，可见金庸明了琴谱的特点。书中有关音乐的描写自然是出于小说家的想像。但大体上作者对琴谱及音乐意象联想的运用是颇为准确的。

琴谱符号似天书古琴的减字谱，其实是把汉字的部首及偏旁作为符号，把演奏的手法指示缩写成为谱字。而原来的指法指示，是一句句表达出来的。换言之，琴谱即用汉字的偏旁把一篇指示演奏的方法缩写成符号；看起来似汉字，但一般人看不懂，以为是天书！《红楼梦》亦有相类的描写（见宝玉看黛玉之琴谱一段）。不懂琴的武林中人误以为武功秘笈是合理的误会。其实琴谱主要指示左右手动作的配合，颇有舞蹈成分（学者荣鸿曾有专文论及），亦多少与武功的剑谱、拳谱相似。由于琴谱乃指法谱，非音高谱，故不能像西方五线谱或简谱般视奏，而需奏者按谱指示熟练全曲后，不用再看谱摸索，才可正式演奏。所以电影《笑傲江湖》中演令狐冲的许冠杰要证明该谱非武功秘笈《葵花宝典》，宝为琴谱，于是用三统奏出该曲，可见编导对古琴谱及中国器乐实际操作的无知。

拍电视宜理解乐理首先，曲洋与刘正风二人合奏《笑傲江湖》，书中之琴箫合奏是古琴传统中常见的形式，但电影中午马（刘正风）吹的是横笛，非洞箫，已大有问题。笛有膜，嘹亮的音色与音量定盖过古琴，故琴不与笛合奏，笛亦为琴人所远之器。二人琴箫合奏，亦绝不可能容令狐冲用三弦加入，因三弦若放在琴的传统美学中，是被认为是低俗的乐器，与横笛一样，在音量上定会把古琴淹没。而在文化观念上，三弦是不会被接纳在琴箫的幽雅传统中的。这些并不是褒琴而贬箫与三弦，而是历史上的中国社会确曾出现过这种观念，说故事要令人信服，应求合乎该故事的时代背景；就是今日的中国器乐合奏组合，那有古琴与笛子、三弦的合奏！因音量与音色不相配也。而且弹三弦亦不能视奏古琴谱，因先要译成音高谱才行。

第二，电影画面上曲洋弹的是古琴，但声带出的是古筝声音。这种无知的错误在港台古装电影、电视中屡见不鲜。若懂一点音乐与文学，则不会如此错乱！导演或编剧在音乐与画面上的处理自然有其戏剧及电影上的理由，但这些「成功的」画像与造假的音响（古琴出古筝的声音）却由于电影的卖座已根植于对中国音乐不大了解的观众脑海中，其误导之处，在一般人对中国传统音乐无知的基础上，加深了不必要的误解。外国电影鲜有画面上出古键琴（harpsichord）而在声带上放钢琴（piano）的不专业做法，大陆电影亦相对地较少出现琴、筝不分，箫、笛相混的情形。如《秦颂》一片，故事自然是虚构，但片中的古琴影像与声带一致，并无造假与误导。港产片何时在这方面可达专业水平？于此更怀念老一辈的电影工作者如李翰祥、胡金铨的文化修养与识见。
