———肢体语言的运用

语言是人类社会交际和思维的工具,它通常由文字语言、有声语言和肢体语言组成。所谓肢体语言,是相对于文字语言和有声语言的一种非符号、非声波的动作,姿态语言是指人有意识或无意识地通过自己身体外部的各种器官的某种动作发射的信息,借以传达讯号或表达情感的语言形态。肢体语言作为一种传递信息的工具,其产生和运用要早于有声语言。在有声语言产生以后,它是传递信息,增加表达效果的一种重要辅助手段。它主要有面部表情语言和体态语言两部分组成,其在交际中有着其他两种语言无法替代的作用。在小学英语教学中,教师除用有声语言来表述外,还可以运用无声的肢体语言来辅助教学,由于它传达意义既快又清楚,往往能起到其他教学方式达不到的效果,大大提高课堂教学的效果。小学阶段是学习语言的极佳时期,也是英语学习的关键时期之一。由于现在英语已经成为小学的一门主要课程,因此激发小学生对英语的初学兴趣、为中学阶段英语的学习打下基础成为小学英语教师的重要任务。然而孩子年龄小,自制力相对较差,注意力不易集中,抽象思维不够发达,再加上英语对他们来说是一个非常陌生的学科,他们更多的是对英语的好奇:什么是英语?英语有意思吗?这样,如果教师在课堂上只是按部就班地把英语知识强行灌输给这些小学生,他们就会感到厌烦,从而丧失对英语的兴趣。那么,如何提高小学英语课堂教学效率呢?大量研究实践证明,成功的课堂教学,不仅需要教师用优美的有声语言来传授知识而且必须伴随自然得体的肢体语言,两者在课堂上的作用是相辅相成、缺一不可的。尤其是对小学英语课堂而言,每一个英语教师除了要具有较好的英语知识,还要掌握如何在课堂上运用肢体语言,以达到良好的教学效果。心理学家曾通过实验得出这样的结论:学生获取信息的效果=7%的文字+38%的音调+55%的面部表情及动作。由此可知,肢体语言在英语教学中具有重要的作用。

一、肢体语言的含义肢体语言(body language)是指在交际过程中人们任何部位辅助语言交流的表情、行为和举止。它是语言的一种,属于非言语语言(non-verbal lan-guage),是用人的面部表情、身体姿势、肢体动作和体位变化而构成的种种图像符号。肢体语言可以帮助教师学会如何吸引学生的注意力,调动学生的学习积极性,主动把握课堂进度,使课堂的气氛活跃起来。Grant Hennings(1971)认为,课堂教学效果的82%都是通过教师的表情、举止等人体动作实现的,而只有18%的信息是通过语言行为表达的。可见非语言交际,尤其是肢体语言对英语课堂教学有着重要的影响。

二、肢体语言的重要性

(一)吸引学生的注意力,激发学生的学习兴趣英语教学过程是学生有意注重与无意注重交替运用、共同发挥作用以达到最好学习效果的过程。在学习过程中,单靠有意注重会使学生厌烦,注意力难以持久,而如果教师用生动有趣的语言加上不断变换的肢体语言来吸引他们,其眼睛就会随你而动,把注意力集中到你的身上。如:在讲课过程中,教师可以用丰富的表情、语调、变换的节奏,加上各种手势并自觉地变换身体姿态、视线等方法把学生的注意力吸引过来。Albert Einstein曾说过:“兴趣是最好的老师。”英语新课标中也明确指出:要“激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣,使学生树立自信心,养成良好的学习习惯和形成有效的学习策略,发展自主学习的能力和合作精神”。课堂上,教师如果能把生动形象的肢体语言同富有感情的阅读和生动的解释结合在一起使用,必定能够吸引学生的注意力,激发其学习的热情,从而达到理想的教学效果。

(二)创设和谐的课堂气氛师生之间的情感交流是创设和谐课堂气氛的重要因素。课堂上肢体语言的应用可以使死气沉沉、单调乏味的课堂气氛变得生机勃勃,从而为学习创造一个舒适的环境。在这样的环境里,学生更加自愿地模仿英语的听说读写,逐渐掌握目标语。这就是说,学生在课堂上情绪的变化是受教师肢体语言制约的,教师的表情、眼神、手势、身势无不影响着学生的心境和态度。教师积极的肢体语言会促进学生的智力活动,使学生产生一种轻松愉快、自然明朗的情感。实践证明,在课堂教学中,能够适当地在教室中走动的教师往往比只站在讲台与黑板之间的教师产生更积极的教学效果,而面带笑容的教师往往能营造出更加轻松、活跃的课堂气氛。

三、肢体语言在英语教学中的应用许多研究表明,教师需要学会运用肢体语言去提高课堂教学的质量。事实上,教师如果能够学会如何在课堂上更有效地运用肢体语言,师生之间的关系就会得到改善,学生的认知能力和学习效率也会得到提高。下面简单介绍几种英语课堂上常用的肢体语言:(一)眼神是最重要、最具表达力的肢体语言,通过一个人的眼神可以看到他内心的迷惑、恐惧、焦虑等。作为小学英语教师,首先必须了解眼神不仅可以用来表达与所教内容相关的情感,而且也能进行师生间的情感交流。教师上课时的目光应该是让每个学生都觉得老师在看着自己,在和自己说话。这样学生就不会轻易走神,肯定比教师眼睛看着天花板或后墙要好得多。另外,不同的眼神可以传达出不同的语言。提问时,可向学生投以期望和信赖的目光,对答对的学生应该给以赞许的目光,对答错的学生应该给予鼓励的目光。总之,合理恰当地使用眼神进行师生交流有助于提高课堂教学效益,增进师生间的情感。

(二)面部表情也是一种重要而又便捷的传递信息、营造良好教学氛围的肢体语言,有许多奇妙的功效。作为教师,我们要善于调节并用丰富的表情说话。这样,既能让学生接受到丰富的语言信息又能让我们的工作变得更加有效和有趣。英语课堂上有一种非常重要的面部表情,那就是笑容。因为英语学习对小学生而言本身就是非常困难,这就要求教师在课堂上要用一种乐观、自信和积极向上的情绪来影响学生,而笑容恰好能产生这种效果。因此,英语教师应该面带笑容走进教室向学生打招呼:“Goodmorning.How are you,today?”当学生回答问题正确时应微笑着说:“Excellent”“Very good”“Great”,以示鼓励。同样,在学生犯错时也要用笑容来鼓励,而不是严厉的指责。总之,面带笑容的教师往往能营造轻松、活跃的课堂气氛,让学生感受到学习的乐趣。

(三)手势语的应用也是小学英语教学过程中的重要部分。尤其针对小学生,适当的手势语可以使得语言表达更具说服力和交际能力,使教师的课堂语言更生动形象。如:向学生问好,面带笑容说:“hello”;在教“My name is…”时,可以指着自己,然后把名字写在黑板上,再指着某个学生说:“Your name is…”;在教词组“stand up,sit down,come here,go back”等时,教师可以一一地做站起来、坐下、到这儿来和回去的动作。这样,学生自然就会理解其意思,而且会印象深刻。(四)身体姿势英语课堂作为真实的语言环境进行语言交流是有很大局限性的。因此,小学英语教师应该知道如何艺术性地在课堂上讲授句型与单词,然后利用肢体语言尤其是身体姿势语言启发、引导学生去学习、使用它们。这就要求教师应尽可能地为学生创设真实的课堂语言环境,学生就会在快乐的气氛中不知不觉学到知识。

在小学英语的课堂教学中,肢体语言占到了很大的一个比重。我们都知道,小学生的注意力集中时间短,运用肢体语言可以提高学生的学习兴趣,活跃课堂气氛。另外,小学生的模仿能力强,听说能力优于读写能力,在课堂教学中运用肢体语言,边学边说边做,有利于学生对所学知识的理解和记忆。

在暑假期间的英语教师培训中,外校的陶老师给我们新教师做了一个关于肢体语言的专题讲座,向我们介绍了一个关于肢体语言的新概念:physical total response。在这个讲座中,陶老师将理论与实践结合起来,详细阐述了肢体语言在英语课堂教学中的重要性。就此,我思考了自己在教学中的肢体语言的运用。

一.肢体语言在单词教学中的运用。

在一年级的教材中,有一个单元是教授run, jump, sing, dance四个单词的。在这个单元的教学中,让学生边做动作边说单词,收到了很好的效果。根据肢体语言,还可以开展形式多样的游戏来巩固单词。比如“比谁反应快”,教师说指令,学生听到指令后边做动作边复述单词。又比如“Simon says”,当教师在指令前加“Simon says”时,学生边做动作边复述单词;当教师没有在指令前加“Simon says”时,学生则不必做动作。这些游戏可以通过小组比赛的形式进行,在巩固单词的同时也训练了学生的反应能力和团队协作能力。

二.肢体语言在词组中的运用。

在三年级的教材中,有一个单元是教授get up, go to school, go home, go to bed四个词组的。在课堂教学中,教师可以分别给四个词组设计相应的动作,让学生边听边看,边说边做。比如说get up的时候,可以伸个懒腰,go to school就是做背书包的动作,等等。在四年级的教材中,有个单元是教授动物单词的,教师可以根据这些动物的特性分别给它们设计相应的动作。在新授时,教师可以做动作来让学生猜,将这些单词一一导出;或者在开展巩固活动时,可以让学生到讲台前来模仿这些动物,让全班一起来猜一猜。这样可以大大调动学生的积极性与参与性,同时提升课堂的趣味性。

三.肢体语言在句子中的运用。

在五年级的教材中,有一个单元的重点句型是“What can you do? I can …”在课堂教学中,教师提问,可以让学生边做动作边回答,让课堂氛围充分“动”起来。在新授的句型中,如“Listen to me.”“Now follow me, please.”等,也可以加入动作,加深学生的理解。

一节课40分钟,要让小学生乖乖坐着听老师讲课是非常困难的。但如果在英语课堂教学中加入肢体语言,让学生在课堂上能够“松一松、动一动”,不仅能提高学习的效率,而且能让学生爱上英语课
