Globally, catastrophes of all kinds in various forms, say, earthquake, tsunami and typhoon, have been springing up in a growing pace, which seems incredible and mysterious to some experts, and even terrible to the common.Many, in effect, a growing number of groups start to believe that the Doomsday, i.e.the end of the world, is looming near.The event largely or partly, at least, responsible for this is the release of 2012, a Hollywood film hit in 2010.It pictured the horrible and last day of the earth, our mother planet.The whole land seemed to be washed up, or in others’ words, cleaned by the flaming nature.All these might be ridiculous to more, but they are something that can not be sneezed at to some others.The origin of the so-called 2012 can be traced back to the interpretation of the ancient calendar of Maya civilization.The mysterious is said to predict many historic events along a lengthy human history, for instance, the invention of cars, World War I&Ⅱ.These dates are incredibly accurate.What puzzles the archaeologists to the greatest extent is the fact that its calendar ends at the end the year 2012—December 22, 2012.Is there some of truth in it?

Personally, I believe there ．is some.Don’t get me wrong, ．however.I’m not a global terrorist, if I might say so.What I am gonna put is that it is a calendar, after all, a tool, used thousands of years ago and it’s indeed something visible and touchable—something we can study and learn from.By the way, a fact also strongly reinforces my and many others’ assurance.The fact is that some ancient books in China like I Ching also suggest some similar points.Well, let’s put the 2012 aside for now.It’s something in the future.I believe nearly all of us can say for sure is the terrible situation of our mother planet, the earth.Pollution of all forms, accidents, nuclear leak and many other man-made are doing harm to her.

(1)For most of us today, television has become our main source of daily news.(2)This is unfortunate, however, because for several reasons newspapers should be regarded as a better source.(3)It is true that television news can vividly bring into our living rooms dramatic events of singular importance, such as space launchings, natural disasters, wars and so on, but it can not cover important stories in the depth they may deserve because of its time limitation.(4)On the contrary, print news excels in its ability to devote as much space to a story as it sees fit, though it can not compete with television visually.(5)Besides, television is essentially a passive medium.(6)Whether we like a particular piece of

(1)Nowadays, heavy traffic has become the source of greatest complaint in many big cities.(2)As it has seriously influenced people’s daily life and economic development, the highest priority of governments has been given to the problem and many experts have been called in for advice.(3)A great number of solutions are being offered.(4)Some people suggest that more streets and roads should be constructed.(5)The advantage is obvious: it can reduce traffic density and hence speed up the flow of buses and cars.(6)But traffic flows constantly rise to fill whatever scale of roads and highways are provided for them.(7)And in a city with booming industry, land is precious and cannot be extravagantly used for traffic.(8)So others argue that the number of bicycles and cars should be limited while more bus routes should be opened up because buses can accommodate more passengers.(9)But the decrease in the number of bicycles and cars might give rise to another new set of problems, such as inconvenience to people.(10)Since neither of the suggestions can effectively solve the problem of heavy traffic, there is an increased awareness that the two solutions may be combined with other possible solutions to produce the best effect.College Lectures and Discussion

What is the difference between the lecture system and the discussion system---the two teaching methods prevalent on campus both at home and abroad? As a senior, it is not very difficult for me to tell: they have both strengths and weaknesses.Many students like the lecture system because it helps to learn quickly and much more.Attending a well-prepared lecture is a most rewarding experience: it can open a new horizon for you and save your much time as well—time you might otherwise spend reading one book after another.Yet the fault of the lecture system is that it cultivates a bad habit of passive learning.Students bring their notebooks and even tape recorders to class to write everything down without thinking for themselves, let alone raise any question.On the contrary the discussion system encourages students to form their own ideas and opinions.To engage in frequent and even heated debate, you have to do a lot of homework beforehand, find answers yourselves and thus you develop the analytical skills which benefit both your academic career and your future life.However, it also has its weakness: students do not learn systematically.In my opinion, both the systems must be improved and a hybrid method may gain more popularity among us students.

经过本学期的英语教学，学生们和我逐渐适应了新的学习生活。在这学期的教学中，我重点放在建立好的学习习惯和高效的课堂上。我先是抓基础的内容，从字母的认读和书写开始，为了节约课堂里的时间，我一般用课前的三分钟练习字母，还组织了一些可以激发学生学习热情的以班级为单位的比赛。例如，我在教授完字母后，组织了三次正规的字母书写比赛，经过这三次比赛，学生们有了进取意识，一次比一次的比赛成果好。我还打算在以后的教学过程中，适时得采用这类方法，再举办一些单词或句子抄写比赛，使学生们有效率得打好英语的学习的书写基础。我还抓住课堂纪律和按时作业等常规，现在四年级拖拉作业的同学大为减少，几乎可以准时把作业交上来。四年级的班级上课也有了一定的效率，但是由于在三年级时从没有练过英语句子的书写，所以学生们在作业质量方面有很大的问题，抄错单词和句子是常有的事，所以我花了不少时间去帮学生纠正书写方面的错误，取得了一定的效果。另外，在养成习惯方面，我还会多请教老教师和班主任，使课堂效率有很大的提高。为了这些孩子今后的学习能有好的习惯和能力，我还想在课堂用语上多下工夫，用课堂用语带动课堂常规的合理建立，使学生们在课堂上学到更多的东西。小学英语四年级教学反思

人教版小学英语从四年级上册开始，除了要求学生掌握26个英文字母的听、说、读、写之外，还要求学生掌握一些单词，能听、说、认读，并且能在四线格中进行拼写。

这个要求使四年级的学生一下子觉得有点不大适应，有些学生连26个字母的听、说、读、写都觉得很吃力，现在要求他们掌握单词的拼写，的确有点累。所以，怎么样帮助他们掌握这些单词，便成了老师的重要任务。

我在教学四会要求单词时，先通过日常谈话引出要学的四会单词，然后把它写到黑板上的四线格中，边写边让学生一起拼写，让学生注意单词的书写格式和书写方法。然后再与学生一起拼写，并告诉学生一些单词的发音规则，告诉他们哪些字母和字母组合通常发什么音，以便于他们对单词的记忆。之后，让他们在活动手册上进行临摹，并在抄写本上进行适量的抄写，及时批改，对拼写错误的和格式错误的学生进行个别指导，努力做到人人都能掌握。

对一些相似或者有相似部分的单词，我会把它们写在黑板上进行对比教学。比如在教pen，pencil，pencil-case这三个单词时，我让学生找到它们的相同部分，进行比较记忆。这样，就比较方便。在教学room，classroom，school，book，door这几个单词时，我告诉他们有两个O的字母组合一般发/u：/，让他们联系起来进行记忆。

小学生活泼好动，爱唱爱跳。教师应根据小学生的这些特点组织游戏活动，让他们在喜闻乐见的形式中充分发展自己的口语表达能力和交际能力。在课堂教学中开展游戏活动，绝大多数学生回忘掉自我，全身心投入到游戏中去，他们会在轻松愉悦的环境里摆脱英语的生涩感，从而自然大方地讲英语，逐渐提高语言组织的能力。例如，在教句型What colour do you want?—I want---时，我设计了Who is lucky ？的游戏。拿出已准备好的一个颜色转盘，然后各组派一名代表选取一种颜色，转动转盘，看指针会停在哪个颜色上，最后给猜队的那个组予以一颗五角星的奖励。在整个活动过程中，双方的通用语言只能是英语，对于犯规的要予以一定的处罚。这样，学生们积极投入，思维敏捷，极大程度地训练了学生的口语，真正做到了“学中玩，玩中学”，学生加深了对句子的理解。

在上 This is my father 时,讲到brother 时，我又设计了这样一个guessing game : I have a friend ,he is a quiet boy.he is thin but strong ,he has big eyes but small mouth.he likes English.who is he?学生根据教师的描述，纷纷举手猜他是谁。此外，学生们还踊跃举手，要求自己描述让其他小朋友猜。课堂气氛十分活跃，有的猜老师，有的猜其他小朋友的爸爸妈妈，还有的甚至猜起了动物，水果等。

在教三年级英语时，由于孩子年龄小，刚刚学习英语，对一些单词句子掌握不够好，这时作为教师别着急，因为他们还没有进入学习状态，没有掌握学习方法，没有一定的规律。这时，只要老师耐心正确地去引导，兴趣自然就会培养出来。

比如，我讲到单词“school"时，为了便于学生记忆拼写，我通过字母编成一些常见的生活情景；我把“S”比喻成“蛇”，“h”比喻成“河”，把“O”比喻成“球”，“l”比喻成“大树”，就成了“一条蛇穿过一条河绕过两个球爬上了一棵大树。”这样，只要一遍学生就能记住这个单词的写法，而读音也会了，在玩中学会了知识，增加了孩子学习英语的兴趣。学到数字时，如讲到“seven”时，学生反应这个词不好记，我不把它编成了“一条蛇和一只鹅比赛去找门口的另一只鹅”，这样学生在笑声中掌握了这个单词。有时候，也可以让学生自己去想像发挥更多的自己联想，然后说出来让大家去评论，好的说法会被大家认可，提高了他们的积极性。再遇到难记的单词时，让学生主动去思考简单的方法，通过实践，达到最好的效果。创造出更好的学习英语的方法。

英语课上，每次积极举手的往往都是那些英语佼佼者，但是那些不敢举手的中等生或差生更需要关注。

记得一次，我上课提问，有一个学生平时成绩很一般，上课极少举手，可这一次我从他期待的眼神中，发现他很想回答，但又不敢举手。我带着鼓励的语气叫了他，他的回答有些紧张，发音也有些错误。我纠正了他的发音，鼓励他再说一遍。他看看我，又看看其他同学，低着头想了想。正在我以为他会放弃的时候，他抬起了头对我说：“老师，你能不能把问题再说一遍。”

我笑着又说了一遍，他盯着我勇敢地说出了答案。虽然他仍然有些紧张，但是讲得很准确。坐下时，我给了他一个小礼品。从他自豪、兴奋的表情中，我坚信他在学习英语的征途中已经迈出了成功的一大步。

老师对学生的关注和尊重，能使一个学习困难的学生产生成就感，树立起学好英语的信心。
