避免仅仅只是参与活动：

很多的学生认为他们只要证明他们参与一堆兴趣小组俱乐部，和一些志愿者活动就能帮助他们被英国大学录取。事实上并非如此!请记住：每个人都参与活动当中，当然参加得多比没有活动好，其实每个人都参与了很多活动。

但是，并不是所有人都是在活动中成为专家、大师或领袖，并不是所有人都真正对参与的活动热情满腔。因此，千万别陷入仅仅为了活动而做活动的怪圈，别抱着参与机器人活动就可以帮助你被大学录取的想法去做相关的活动。相反，利用课外活动去发现自己的兴趣和热情所在更加重要。

对自己诚实：

一旦你为自己的未来理想埋下种子，你需要同时开始清除杂草。你应该专注于两三个活动并不是要做十个活动。除非你有无尽的能量和时间，做十个活动也许可以证明你的努力。在两到三个活动中担任较长时间的领导组织者，可以反映活动的真实性和你的个性特点。

当然，进行多方面的探索和尝试没有什么不对，但是这样并不能体现你对活动真正的全身心投入，即所谓的热情和真正参与。

关于课外活动，我们需要记住的是课外活动都是放在学校的背景之下进行评估的。如果你的学校根本没有生物机械工程小组，你的申请不会因为你的活动背景没有生物机械小组而减分。一位名校招生官曾谈到：课外活动都是放在学生所处的环境中来进行考量。

如果你的高中只有200名学生，这样的学校不可能有50个俱乐部让你进行选择。如果你是家里六个孩子中排行老大，你不得不帮忙做家务，那么你是不可能有时间成为6个俱乐部的头儿。所有成功的申请人都是在某个课外活动领域证明了自己，而选择确定这个活动领域取决于你。

热情引领职业方向：
