A boy comes;(主谓)he is attractive;(主谓表)
I like him;
(主谓宾)I will give him all my love;(主谓双宾)
he can make me happy(主谓宾宾补)
比如说:he must go out;谓语是谁?
i be a beauty;be 是谓语吗?不是,因为它没有时态,应该写成am 才是对的,也就是要写成be的一般现在时am;
翻译的时候不能写i very pretty;,一定要写i am very pretty;也就是说没有动词一定要加be动词作为谓语。
love you is my fault;i come buy water;that cry boy is my little brother;he said sth smile;以上四个句子中都有两个动词,既然只能有一个动词作谓语,所以love, buy, cry 和smile 都要变成不是动词的;那如何把动词变成不是东西呢?
to love/loving;to buy;crying;smiling
(×)Shouldn’t shun responsibilities.
(×)This issue the government has attached much importance to.3)无主解决没有主语在译成英语时要加上主语。
English must be pointed out to be important.2)It
It is cold here.3)There be
There are many people who believe marriage is the end of love.4)One/we
We should protect the environment.
eg success is to get/getting what you want;还有名词,代词egi am a teacher/me 除此之外,还有形容词和介词短语 egi am beautiful i am in the office 总结:能做主语的词性都能做宾语,能做宾语的都能做表语,但是能做表语的成分有形容词和介词短语只能做表语,不能做宾语。
比如说 I love you.
I, liuxiaoyan, who comes from chongqing university, which is the most important universities in china, who is my motherland, love you,who can make everybody stop to look at you in the street in which there are so many people who „;
三种变法:A、变成to do(不定式);B、变成v-ing(现在分词);C、变成 done(过去分词)。
比如说“他来看我”,不能翻译成“he comes see me”;因为这个句子中只有comes 是谓语,所以see,变成了 to see,这就是动词不定式了。
再如这句话,beat you is my fault.
I love you, you love that dog.
I love you ,but you love that dog.
Until these issues are resolved, a technology of behavior will continue to be rejected, and with it possibly the only way to solve our problems.
即是:although I love you, you love that dog.(状语从句)或I love you ,who loves that dog.(定语从句)
即是:my loving you , you love that dog.
A.如果引导词前是个名词,那就根据情况区别是定语从句还是同位语从句;
B.如果引导词前是实意动词,那就说明这个从句是宾语从句;
C.如果引导词前面是系动词,那就说明这个从句是表语从句;
D.如果其前面是状语从句的引导词,那就说明这是个状语从句;
This alone demonstrates that the television business is not an easy world to survive in, a fact underlined by statistics that show that out of eighty European television networks no less than 50% took a loss in 1989.
常见的并列连词有and, but, yet, or, so, for ,not only„but also„看到这批单词,一般就有并列结构存在,并且很可能存在着省略问题。
Eg 2002年64题 They are the possessions of the autonomous(self-governing)man of traditional theory, and they are essential to practices in which a person is held responsible for his conduct and given credit for his achievements. 因为存在并列,所以第二个定从和第一个相比,少了in which a person is.
Whorf came to believe in a sort of linguistic determinism which, in its strongest form, states that language imprisons the mind, and that the grammatical patterns in a language can produce far-reaching consequences for the culture of a society.
Eg 2001年73题 Pearson has pieced together the work of hundreds of researchers around the world to produce a unique millennium technology calendar that gives the latest dates when we can expect hundreds of key breakthroughs and discoveries to take place.如上,分析各个名词,第一个名词pearson后显然是谓语动词;第二个名词work 后面of短语显是然修饰work 的;第三个名词后也有修饰成分;calendar 后从句也是修饰该名词的;
Pearson has pieced together the work to produce a calendar.

1)结构复杂,逻辑层次多;
2)常须根据上下文作词义的引申;
3)常须根据上下文对指代词的指代关系做出判断;
4)并列成分多;
5)修饰语多,特别是后置定语很长;
1、从句(定语、状语、同位语从句等)修饰;
2、介词短语修饰;
3、分词修饰;
The methods that a community devises to perpetuate itself come into being to preserve aspects of the cultural legacy that community perceives as essential.分析:主语:The methods;谓语:come into being;that a community devises to perpetuate itself为定语从句,修饰the methods;不定式to表示目的状语;that community perceives as essential为定语从句,修饰the cultural legacy。
Moreover, I can feel strong emotions in response to objects of art that are interpretations, rather than representations, of reality. 这样就可以看到把that are interpretations 和of reality连接起来了。That引导定语从句,修饰objects of art。
Nowhere do 1980 census statistics dramatize more the American search for spacious living than in the Far West.
That sex ratio will be favored which maximizes the number of descendants and hence the number of gene copies transmitted. That sex ratio which maximizes the number of descendants will be favored and hence the number of gene copies transmitted. 另外,and并列的后半句省略了主谓语that sex ratio maximizes。
名词性从句由连接词(或关联词)如 whether,that,who,whom,whose,which,what,when,where,how,why等引导。
1、疑问 词有本身的词义;
2、疑问词在从句中担当句子成分,如主语、宾语或状语;
(一)以what, whatever, whoever, whether, when, where, how, why等词引导的主语从句,在翻译的时候,一般可以按照英语原文顺序来翻译。What he told me was only half-truth.
Whatever is worth doing should be done well.
Whether he comes or not makes no difference.
When we can begin the expedition is still a question.
How he is going to do it is a mystery.
It doesn’t make much difference whether he attends the meeting or not.
It seemed inconceivable that the pilot could have survived the crash.
It is strange that she should have failed to see her own shortcomings.
(一)用that, what, how, when, which, why, whether, if 等引起的宾语从句,翻译成汉语的时候,一般不需要改变它在原句中的顺序。
I told him that because of the last condition, I’d have to turn it down.
Can you hear what I say?
I don’t know that he swam across the river.
I don’t know how he swam across the river.
He has informed me when they are to discuss my proposal.
Smith replied that he was sorry.
He would remind people again that it was decided not only by himself but by lots of others.
I made it clear to them that they must hand in their papers before 10 o’clock in the morning.
I heard it said that he had gone abroad.
I regard it as an honor that I am chosen to attend the meeting.
We consider it absolutely necessary that we should open our door to the outside world.
It seems that it is going to snow.
That is why Jack got scolded.
The question remains whether we can win the majority of the people.
His view of the press was that the reporters were either for him or against him.
能接同位语从句的名词主要有:belief(相信),fact(事实),hope(希望),idea(想法,观点),doubt(怀疑),news(新闻,消息),rumor(传闻),conclusion(结论),evidence(证据),suggestion(建议),problem(问题),order(命令),answer(回答),decision(决定),discovery(发现),explanation(解释),information(消息),knowledge(知识),law(法律),opinion(意见,观点),truth(真理,事实),promise(承诺),report(报告),thought(思想),statement(声明),rule(规定),possibility(可能)等。
He expressed the hope that he would come over to visit China again.
There is a possibility that he is a spy.
We know the fact that bodies possess weight.
The rumor that he was arrested was unfounded.
But this does not in any way alter the fact that they are now, from a practical point of view, irrational.
We have reached the conclusion that practice is the criterion for testing truth.
Not long ago, the scientists made an exciting discovery that this waste material could be turned into plastics.
Water, which is a clear liquid, has many uses.
There are also great advantages that come from the variety of culture brought by settlers from other lands.
Our war against terror is a contest of will in which perseverance is power.
Days and nights are very long on the moon, where one day is as long as two weeks on the earth.
Both picnics and BBQ are friendly, informal social events that offer an opportunity to enjoy a meal outside in pleasant surroundings.
I’m not speaking of the few thousand astronomers, geographers and so forth who could give, or have a theoretical knowledge of that proof, but of the ordinary newspaper-reading citizens, such as you or we.
When they approached Trenton, lights were still burning in many of the houses and Christ mas parties were still going on.
一般像由 hardly(scarcely)„.when(before)„ no sooner„ than„ as soon as „ the moment(the instant)„ just as„等短语连词引导的时间状语从句翻译成汉语时, 主句与从句通常要互换, 常常译成包含“刚(一)„„就„„”这种结构的句子。
Hardly had the computer started working when viruses were found.As soon as she heard the news, she fainted.3、
I was going home when I met Mary.
When winds blow particles against a large rock for a long time, the softer layers of the rock are slowly worn away.
It is frequently said that computers solve problems only because they are “programmed” to do so.
As families move away from their stable community, their friends of many years, and their extended family relationships, the informal flow of information is cut off.
If the epidemic cannot be controlled effec tively, the whole country will come into chaos.
If you melt two or more metals together, you can get a new metal.
Be respectful to your superiors, if you have any, also to strangers, and sometimes to others.
They might be prepared to trim production-but only if they are convinced it will firm prices
Although there are these cultural differences,the main engine propelling the separatist cause is economic.
Yet whenever I stopped by his hospital bedside, he was surrounded by visitors from his church, singing and praying.
