一、中西方爱情观不同的表现 1．追求爱情的自由度

在中国封建社会，婚恋的顾虑和干涉颇多，特别注意门当户对，女子是否有德有貌，男子是否有才有功名。这样一来男女双方的爱情就绝非单纯的爱情了，其中掺和了许多门第功名等与封建社会政治制度相关的因素。

西方人表现在爱情观上就是“探究”心态。特征是爱独立自由，喜欢探究新奇，乐于冒险进取。男女在择偶上不管年龄大小、相貌美丑，不管是否已婚，只要能达到探究上的满足，一切都无所顾忌。而且西方人觉得恋爱是自己的事，不应受过多约束。2．爱情的表达方式

中国男女表达爱情的方式都是含蓄、拘谨、谨慎的。文学作品中的男女经常用日用物品如绢帕、团扇、玉簪等求爱，或者用谐音寓意的东西，如莲子(怜子)、青丝(思)、红豆等表达心意，在伦理道德监管下中国人无法明确地用言语当面求爱。而只得求助于有爱情隐含意义的物品或者其他暗示行为。

二、中西方婚姻观不同的表现

（一）结婚目的的差异

所谓婚姻目的，即男女双方想经由建立婚姻关系的方式而达到某种预期的结果。

中国传统的婚姻目的是为家庭而非爱情。一方面是通过联姻合两大家族之优势，扩大亲属同盟，即“结缘”；另一方面是为了男性家庭继承家庭的血统，传宗接代，即“继统”。当然，在现今的中国社会中，这种传统的婚姻目的受到了极大的冲击。男女青年往往选择“爱情至上”的婚姻。但是在中国这样一个极富传统的社会，要使爱情变为婚姻的主要目的，仍然不是一件简单的事情。

西方人的婚姻目的：其一是坠入爱河的恋人希望恋情有个完满的结果；其二，寻找长久的异性生活伴侣，从而使自己在生理上心理上的需要得到满足。在个人主义极为流行的西方社会中，结婚只是两个个体的结合。而结婚的基础是爱情和两性相悦。在他们看来：没有爱情的婚姻是不道德的婚姻，低质量的婚姻。由此可见，追求真爱乃是绝大多数西方人最重要的婚姻目的。因此，我们说西方人的结婚，是个人的权利；中国人的结婚，更像是对家庭的一种义务。

（二）择偶标准的差异

由于婚姻目的的不同致使中西方文化在择偶的标准上也存在显著的差异。从中国传统的择偶标准来看，最要紧的是身家清白和门当户对。身家清白，往往是男方对女方要求的条件。父母替儿子选媳妇，首先调查清楚女方是否属于本分人家，因为他们认定只有这样人家出身的姑娘将来才可恪守妇道，孝敬公婆，使家庭和睦。至于门当户对，则更是中国传统社会的家长替子女择偶特别讲究的条件。在中国古典的爱情小说中，穷秀才和富家小姐的相爱总会遭到最强烈的阻挠；而贫家女想嫁入豪门只能给人做侧室或偏房。现今中国青年男女的择偶标准，虽然不一定严格恪守身家清白和门当户对的原则，但是仍然受到这一原则的影响。

西方人的择偶标准和我们实在有很大的差异。西方人的择偶标准，最主要是两个人的互相契合，其余的条件像家庭背景、教育程度等因素则可以不在考虑之列。因此，一位出身富贵之家的少女在寻觅如意郎君的过程中，很有可能会选择与自己阶级背景相差悬殊的小伙子，其原因可能仅仅是因为被小伙子的幽默感吸引。西方童话中王子与灰姑娘的浪漫爱情故事在西方现实生活中也时有发生。英国的查尔斯王子之所以最终选择出身、相貌普通的不能再普通的卡米拉作为自己的爱人，正是因为两人有着契合的性格和共同的爱好。

（三）婚姻中的夫妻关系

传统的中国婚姻中，丈夫往往在婚姻中处于主导地位，而妻子则是处于从属地位。这种婚姻结构是由于传统的文化分工造成的，即“男主外、女主内”的文化分工。丈夫是一家之主，是全家的顶梁柱，承担着家庭生活的主要经济责任；而妻子的任务是管理家务，侍奉公婆，相夫教子。现代的中国社会，男女在婚姻中的地位差距不似以前那么悬殊。如今，女性走出了家庭的圈子，参与社会工作，保持在经济上的相对独立。但即便如此，大部分的妻子仍需要或愿意在不同程度上依附于自己的丈夫。改革开放以后，人们的经济条件较以往有很大的提高，不少妻子回到家中做全职主妇，完全由丈夫供养。对于这些全职太太们，人们总是投以羡慕的目光，称赞她们有福气；但对于社会中出现的极为个别的全职丈夫的情况，大家总是投以鄙视的目光，认为男人围着锅台转是很没骨气的。

三、原因分析 1．民族文化

中华民族是以自给自足的农业文化为基础的。其基本特征是向内调适。由于生产力低下，人们在严峻的自然面前只能千方百计地调整自己来顺应它，由此形成了一种“天人合一”向内调试的心态。这种心态向社会其他领域渗透的结果，则必然产生竭力缓解、调和各种社会矛盾冲突的倾向。西方文化则是以古希腊的商业文化为基础的。其具有以个人或民族为中心的向外扩张性的特征，它要求人们要勇敢地迎接冲突或主动挑起冲突，在冲突中争取闪光诱人的未来。

这种不同民族的文化积淀反映在追求爱情的自由度上，特别是当爱情受外界阻挠的时候，中西方男女有不同的行为反应。中国的男女恋人如梁山伯与祝英台为自己的命运而抗争所采取的行动往往是被动的、极其可怜的，甚或采取“忍”、“让”的态度以缓和矛盾。而最终换来的却是自身爱情的悲剧；与之相反，西方男女如罗密欧与朱丽叶为追求自己的爱情自由、婚姻美满所采取的行动往往是主动、坚决、剧烈而又毫不妥协的。2．社会开放程度与女子地位

中国古代社会开放程度不高，不鼓励男女自由见面、交往和恋爱，且女子地位低下。比男子更不自由，因此男女在追求恋爱的时候顾虑多、压力大，自由恋爱成功的可能性很小。婚姻只能听从家族或父母的安排。自己没有自由挑选的权利和条件。而西方男女交往相对自由得多，社会尊重自由恋爱，家庭干涉少。

西方人拥有热情、奔放、坚决、毫不妥协的独立人格，原因在于：政治上古希腊民主政治的传统及资本主义制度的确立，达到了政治上的相对平等；经济上立足于个人之上的古希腊商业经济和近代西方大规模的资本主义经济，达到了经济上的自主；思想上思想家依据各自独立的价值判断能力进行自由选择和发现，形成了思想创造的自由化、多元化。

四、结论和启示

通过对中西方婚姻爱情观的比较可以看出，中西方婚姻爱情观相差甚远：西方人重视恋爱。中国人重视婚姻而轻视恋爱。其背后有深刻的原因，如民族文化、民族性格、社会开放程度等的迥然不同。
