Reflection It is already pointed out that the need to increase the number of opportunities for aspiring trainee teachers to engage in a process of continuous reflection as they proceed toward attaining their professional goals.The emphasis is also valid as part of structured efforts to improve the ways people are made ready to assume leadership roles in school as well.Reflection about one’s performance in a professional role is a rather simple concept to define.As Posner(1985)observed concerning the use of reflectivity in student teaching, people would benefit greatly from their experiences if they had the opportunity to prepare for and think about those experiences before and after they occur.This theme has been championed by Donald Schon(1983), who advanced the concept of reflection as a guide to action in many professions.Again, the concept is simply stated ,namely that the effective, reflective practitioner would be the person who realizes that, before he or she tries to solve problems , it is critical to think about the nature of the “right” problems to be solved.From this presentation, i learned a lot of things and though i have encountered many problems but everything ended just fine.I’m quite satisfied with the powerpoint slide i designed.When i’m designing the slide, i try my very effort to make my slide more colorful instead of making everything in black and white.The latest investigation published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology stated that colour holds the secret to attraction.With colorful slide projected on the screen, the audience are more able to focus.I also show them some picture and photo to enhance their understanding on the article.Thanks to the advance of technology, i’m able to get any picture i need at the comfort of my hostel.Any information and picture comes in handy with just one click.Dr.Wayne W.Dyer once said that “The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.” The process of reflection prepared us for the next step, that is self-improvement.Life goes on and time waits for nobody.We should always on the move and improve ourselves.The only person we should try to be better than, is the person we were yesterday.Never attempt to compete with others cause if we continuously compete with others, we will become bitter.On the other way round, if we continuously compete with ourselves, we will only become better.Therefore, we should willing to make some changes for better self.After this presentation, i realize that i still have many room for
improvement.One thing i would change about my presentation this time is on the information provided.I will find more extra information and wide-range data for my presentation next time.I will arm myself to the teeth because the audience may throw any question any time.So i have to be ever-ready with the adequate information to fulfill the curiosity of the audience.Besides, i will do more reading in order to sharpen my mind.As Toni Morrison says in The Dancing Mind , “reading is to experience one's own mind dancing with another's.”
I think the content of my presentation is contented and knowledgeable.The title of my first article is 5 threats to California from climate change.I chose this article purposely so that the audience is exposed to what’s happening around the globe instead of just around of us.Besides, i choose the latest news happened in California so that the audience can catch up with the up-to-date information.I would like to led my audience to look outside the box so that they can be more alert to problem facing by our mother nature.My second article is Playing God with the climate.It is an article about crazy ideas suggested by scientists in order to save our Earth.There are many unbelievable ideas suggested by geo-engineerers and the audience may encounter some difficulty in order to accept the ideas.Anyway, i’m glad that the audience show interest for my second article.They even ask me for further information after i’m done with my presentation.The old saying that “eyes are a reflection of your inner self” holds true in most cases.There are a lot of meanings to eye contact and it is considered as a basic component of social interaction in some cultures.Some people struggle to make eye contact with others.Failing to make eye contact suggests to some that you're shy to others, it indicates that you are not confident enough and sometimes can also be taken as a disrespect.Julia Minson, a psychologist and assistant professor at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and her collaborator, Frances Chen realized that staring at someone will make the person more likely to see your point.After this presentation, I think that i did not make sufficient eye contact.I was too awkward and nervous that time.I did attempt to make some eye contact, but any efforts i made was proven in vain.Sufficient eyes contact is very important so that the listener can get our sincerity and hence, more willing to accept our ideas.I should improve my eye contact for the presentations to come.Maybe next time i can try to look for some friendly face among the audience first and look them in their eyes so that i can be more relax and easy to make such attempt.The influential German scholar Wilhelm Wundt, who in 1900 published the first volume of his Völkerpsychologie, which contains an extensive discussion of gesture, claimed that primordial speech was a kind of gesticulation that “mirrored the soul.” From this, we can know the importance of effective gestures and movement.I think that i did not make many effective movement and gestures on the stage.Well, at least i should be more at ease and not that tensed up.This will enable the audience to be more relax and get rid of the awkward situation.Besides, the audience will focus more on the message i delivered if i attempt to make some effective gestures to lure their attention.Repetition is the mother of learning , the father of action , which makes it the architect of accomplishment.(Zig Ziglar).This quote show us how important practice is.“Practise makes perfect”, that’s how a saying goes.I did not practise much for this time presentation.I just go through my script on that very day and do it on the spot.I think i should practise more so that i can find out my mistakes earlier and able to make some changes before it is too late.Next time, maybe i can try standing in front of a mirror for practising so that i can catch my expression while i’m talking.Besides, i will try to record down my voice and listen to it.By using this method, i can improve on my pronunciation.I can also improve on the tone of my voice so that they’re not flat and monotonous.I will try to make some “ups and downs” in my tone to lure the audience’s attraction.I will practise in front of my friends and family too in order to build up my confident and make me more prepared to such environment.I’m very glad to have this chance of speaking in front of others.There are a couple of things that I do feel I lack the confidence and skill to perform.In my future, I hope to carry all of the skills I wish to acquire.I feel that I am much better now, in talking in front of others.The responsibility I have gained during this experience is incredible and has taught me to be a much more organized person.I found that all of these responsibilities have made me realize that I could definitely take the next step forward in my academic career.Each new experience I involve myself in has made me continue to grow and constantly learn something new.(1385 words)

Three Idiots Reflection 3 Idiots is a 2009 Bollywood comedy film from India.It’s about three engineering students Rancchoddas “Rancho” Shyamaldas Chanchad, Farhan Qureshi, and Raju Rastogi, who share a room at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India.It tells us a story about how they fight with the authority, how they get along with each other, and how they grow from “idiots” to genius.There are many themes of the movie, including friendship, love, and success.But the one that has touched me most deeply and brought me into deliberation is the part of education.The educational system in the college is very rigid, and the only standard of checking students’ level in mastering the skills is to see if you got the first place.The staunch advocate of the system is the president of the college, Professor Viru “Virus” Sahastrabuddhe, who believes that grades mean everything, and wants to all his students to follow his way of educating.And the three main characters Farhan Qureshi, Raju Rastogi and Ranchhoddas “Rancho” Shamaldas Chhanchad are not in his favor.Farhan is studying engineering to pursue his father's wishes, over his own passion for wildlife photography.Raju is studying to get his family out of poverty.On the other hand, Rancho studies for his simple passion in machines, and he is totally disagree with the conception of Virus, as he believes that one should follow excellence, not success, for success will take care of itself if excellence is followed.Here comes the contradiction between the teacher and students.What impress me most in the film are the Joy’s tragedy and the suicide of Raju.Joy is refused to graduate because he has not finished his project, which is regarded as unrealistic dream by Virus.And Virus makes a phone call to tell Joy’s father, who has great expectations of his son.With no way to change the situation, finally, Joy chooses to end his life by hanging himself, and leaves the words “I Quit” on the wall.What a poor guy!He has devoted so much in his study, but just the delay of final project denies everything.Just as Rancho says, it is the irrational system of education but not suffocation that leads to Joy’s death.Coincidently, there is another similar tragedy.One night, the three friends, who are already drunk, break into Virus’s house to allow Rancho to propose to Virus’s daughter Pia.The next day, Virus threatens to expel Raju or let he talk on the other two.Raju, unable to choose between betraying his friend or letting down his family, jumps out and lands on a courtyard.I can never forget the moment when Raju is deciding to commit suicide, the expression on his face is so despaired.Though there are only two such cases mentioned in the movie, I believe the phenomenon is not unusual.We cannot only pin the blame on the professor;the underlying reason should be the educational system, which puts an overwhelming emphasis on students’ grades but ignores the process of education.As a result, there has been more and more students like Chatur Ramalingam or called “Silencer”, who blindly crams a bookish definition.And schools are no longer the place for development of students, but a factory to produce students with good grades who tend to have no innovation and just follow what teachers tell them.Worse more, students in such environment are easy to suffer great pressure, and get kinds of physiological problems;some of them even choose to end their lives.Therefore, it calls for immediate measures to deal with such problems.First all, schools and parents should change their mind about education, do not put so much pressure on their kids.And the way of teaching and study also need some improvement, which is so inflexible.Furthermore, setting proper perspective of education is very necessary for students.And in my opinion, the ideal education mode should be the one as Rancho shows in the movie.We are supposed to pursue things we really want, instead of following our parents or teachers advice.And there is no absolute approach to success, grades do not mean everything.

My topic is something about preschool education.I will focus on the recently hot issues——children abuse.Not too ago, these two photos online aroused fierce anger among the public in our country.We can see here, one of them shows a woman grabbing a boy’s ears, the boy is making a painful face while the woman is smiling.Another shows a child whose mouth was taped shut by the teacher.These both were mistreating behavior of kindergarten teachers from Zhejiang yanling.Seeing the pictures, we may all feel very angry.What contributed to this phenomenon? I will give four reasons.Firstly, the investment in preschool education is low.China’s government investment in preschool education accounts for only 1.2 percent of its total education expenditures, far less than 6.7percent in USA, we always like to comparison with India.What’s more, the investment in preschool education also far below other education levels’ spending.Secondly, a Kindergarten are not part of China’s nine-year compulsory education system, we know that compulsory education enjoys strong government funding.This led to a shortage of public kindergartens and increase of private schools, while the supervision of private is not so severe.The third reason is lack of licensed teachers.Since the private kindergartens are profit-oriented, and they can’t get much financial support of government, they can only cut down teachers’ salary to reduce cost.The low pay has had an effect on job seekers, qualified and licensed teachers are not willing to take private kindergarten jobs.Unlicensed teachers have filled the vacant—according to the investigation, only 40 percent of Wenling’s private kindergarten teachers are licensed.Yan yanhong in this case is an unlicensed educator too.Legal support is also lacking.While many countries have clear penalties for children abuse, the laws surrounding children abuse in our country are vague, weak and often less enforced.Currently there is no criminal law that deals specifically with children abuse, Yan yanhong has been put under seven-day administrative detention for her mistreating behavior！
The reasons above caused the event.To eliminate this phenomenon need the cooperation of kindergarten teachers, government and education organizations.Form the teachers’ prospective, to strengthen the training plan, especially to cultivate the good personality.And the government should increase the expenditure in preschool education and expand public kindergartens and support private ones.For education organization, raise up the standard of opening a kindergarten, and put up strict control of the educators threshold.I want to close my speech by a famous saying: Children are the blossom of motherland, the future of our motherland.Teacher is a hard gardener and the soul engineer of mankind.So let’s get involved to eliminate children abuse.
