本次作文中读完题目,建议同学们用笔勾画出来五个关键词,即五个要点,顺序依次是“30 minutes”、“essay”、“how”、“the relationship between doctors andpatients”、“write at least 120 words but no more than180 words”其中关于考试时间和作文字数的要求每年都一致。
In the present age,it is generally acknowledged that the relationship between doctors and patients is playing indispensable roles inour lives. As far as I am concerned,we should balance this kind of relationship from two aspects, doctorsand patients. The causes of this perspective are multiple. In the first place, the reason hasbeen cited as a major reason that doctorscannot be understood, for patients always maintain doctors can cure all kindsof disease. This is mainly due to the fact that although medical technology and science are advanced at an amazingrate, there exists a multitude of various kinds of diseases we cannot cure.Furthermore, the reason can contribute this perspective that patients are believed to be lack of thefundamental medical knowledge, which results in this relationship are worried.Plenty of evidence has shown that anincreasing number of patients often go to extremes if their diseases cannot be cureinstantly. When it comes to ourmodern society,it is universally acknowledged that dealing with the relationship between doctors and patients in areasonable way plays a vitally important role in our lives.Undoubtedly, ifwe spare no efforts to do so,our future will be hopeful and promising.分割线

Q:Who did Edison raise money for?
A)Her friend Erika.
Q:How did Edison raisemoney?

A team with Oxford University’s WildlifeConservation Research Unit, supported by a charity organization, spent twonights in November camping in the National Park in northwest Ethiopia,on theEthiopia-Sudan border. The researchers set out six camera traps capturingimages of lions, and they identified lion tracks. The scientists concluded that lions are alsolikely to live in the neighbouring National Park across the border in Sudan. The International Union for Conservation of Nature had previously consideredthe area a”possible range“for the species, and local people hadreported seeing lions in the area, but no one presented convincing evidence.Section B

Locatedin Huayin City,Mount Hua is 120 kilometers away from Xi’an. MountHua is a part of Qinling Mountains, which not only separates the southern andnorthern parts of Shaanxi but also the South and North China.秦岭直接译为QinlingMountains,陕南与陕北就是指陕西的南部和北部the southern and northern partsof Shaanxi
UnlikeTaishan Mountain, where people often go to worship, there used to be few peoplegoing to Mount Hua as the roads to the mountains are extremely dangerous. However, people who wish to live longer often climb mountains as there are many herbs onthem, especially some rare ones.
Sincecable cars were installed in the 1990s,the number of visitors has increaseddramatically.

Part I Writing(30 minutes)Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay. You should start your essay with a brief description of the picture and then express your views on the importance of reading literature. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words. One possible version
The Importance of Reading Literature In the cartoon, a teacher gives a literary work to a student who is shocked by her action, saying, “Just think of it as you’re reading a long text-message.” It shows the case that people nowadays are indifferent to the thick, heavy and long literary works.Various reasons are responsible for the phenomenon mentioned above.Firstly, modern technologies force us to live a high-paced life, which gives opportunities to “fast-food culture” to be ubiquitous in our daily life.So reading literature, as a patience-and time-consuming activity, has irresistibly lost some of its participants.Secondly, the impetuous mentality of the whole society aggravates the impatience of modern citizens so that it is increasingly difficult for them to read a long and thick literary work.Thirdly, the concept that reading literature is useless also contributes to the reluctance of reading literature.Personally, reading literature can greatly broaden our mind and vision, motivate our critical and independent thinking, cultivate our patience and peace of mind, and perfect our selfhood. So why not spare some time on reading literature? Notes to the texts 1.indifferent
6.perfect v.to make sth perfect or as good as you can 使完善;使完美;使完备 2015-6-11 Vocabulary and Grammar

Passage Two
I don’t ever want to talk about being a woman scientist again. There was a time in my life when people asked constantly for stories about what it’s like to work in a field dominated by men.I was never very good at telling those stories because truthfully I never found them interesting. What I do find interesting is the origin of the universe, the shape of space-time and the nature of black holes. At 19, when I began studying astrophysics, it did not bother me in the least to be the only woman in the classroom. But while earning my Ph.D.at MIT and then as a post-doctor doing space research, the issue started to bother me.My every achievement—jobs, research papers, awards—was viewed through the lens of gender(性别)politics. So were my failures.Sometimes, when I was pushed into an argument on left brain versus(相对于)right brain, or nature versus nurture(培育), I would instantly fight fiercely on my behalf and all womankind. Then one day a few years ago, out of my mouth came a sentence that would eventually become my reply to any and all provocations: I don’t talk about that anymore. It took me 10 years to get back the confidence I had at 19 and to realize that I didn’t want to deal with gender issues. Why should curing sexism be yet another terrible burden on every female scientist? After all, I don’t study sociology or political theory.Today I research and teach at Barnard, a women’s college in New York City.Recently, someone asked me how may of the 45 students in my class were women. You cannot imagine my satisfaction at being able to answer, 45.I know some of my students worry how they will manage their scientific research and a desire for children. And I don’t dismiss those concerns.Still, I don’t tell them “war” stories.Instead, I have given them this: the visual of their physics professor heavily pregnant doing physics experiments. And in turn they have given me the image of 45 women driven by a love of science. And that’s a sight worth talking about.62.Why doesn’t the author want to talk about being a woman scientist again?
A)She feels unhappy working in male-dominated fields.B)She is fed up with the issue of gender discrimination.C)She is not good at telling stories of the kind.D)She finds space research more important
63.From Paragraph 2, we can infer that people would attribute the author’s failures to ________.A)the very fact that she is a woman
B)her involvement in gender politics
C)her over-confidence as a female astrophysicist
D)the burden she bears in a male-dominated society
64.What did the author constantly fight against while doing her Ph.D.and post-doctoral research?
A)Lack of confidence in succeeding in space science.B)Unfair accusations from both inside and outside her circle.C)People’s stereotyped attitude toward female scientists.D)Widespread misconceptions about nature and nurtured.65.Why does the author feel great satisfaction when talking about her class?
A)Female students no longer have to bother about gender issues.B)Her students’ performance has brought back her confidence.C)Her female students can do just as well as male students.D)More female students are pursuing science than before.66.What does the image the author presents to her students suggest?
A)Women students needn’t have the concerns of her generation.B)Women have more barriers on their way to academic success.C)Women can balance a career in science and having a family.D)Women now have fewer problems pursuing a science career.
I don’t ever want to talk about being a woman scientist again,以“again”一词造成悬疑,引起读者对原因的探究,而后整个第一段叙述了相对于这一again的上一次作者面对性别问题时的态度;并解释了原因是兴趣不在于此(I never found them interesting)。
第二段开始初步为“again”释疑,叙述了作者从最初对性别问题的超然态度(it did not bother me in the least to be the only woman in the classroom)转变为积极捍卫女性利益态度(I would instantly fight fiercely on my behalf and all womankind)的过程。
Why should curing sexism be yet another terrible burden on every female scientist? After all, I don’t study sociology or political theory这一问一答可以看出,虽然多年过去,但作者用以对付性别问题这一心理重担的利器依然是兴趣(don’t study sociology or political theory)。
(45 women driven by a love of science)。
62.Why doesn’t the author want to talk about being a woman scientist again?
A)She feels unhappy working in male-dominated fields.B)She is fed up with the issue of gender discrimination.C)She is not good at telling stories of the kind.D)She finds space research more important. B,She is fed up with the issue of gender discrimination,我认为这个结论有待商榷。

(It took me 10 years to get back the confidence I had at 19),这也是题目中使用again的原因。
63.From Paragraph 2, we can infer that people would attribute the author’s failures to ________.A)the very fact that she is a woman
B)her involvement in gender politics
C)her over-confidence as a female astrophysicist
D)the burden she bears in a male-dominated society
19岁时完全超脱(it did not bother me in the least),麻省理工求学及之后研究时开始受到干扰(the issue started to bother me),这种干扰就是作者所有的成就:工作、研究论文、获奖,都受到性别偏见这副有色眼镜的过滤(viewed through the lens of gender politics),而后作者写了一句So were my failures,so在这里是代指,指代viewed through the lens of gender politics,即my failures were also viewed through the lens of gender politics,意思就是人们是从性别政治的角度看待她的失败,也就是认为她的失败是由性别偏见引起的。
64.What did the author constantly fight against while doing her Ph.D.and post-doctoral research?
A)Lack of confidence in succeeding in space science.B)Unfair accusations from both inside and outside her circle.C)People’s stereotyped attitude toward female scientists.D)Widespread misconceptions about nature and nurtured.
It took me 10 years to get back the confidence I had at 19,但这个信心是作者在面对世人对女性偏见时有信心不予理睬,而不是科研领域的信心。
世人戴着性别的有色眼镜看她(was viewed through the lens of gender politics),但这也仅仅是一种态度罢了,还没到指责、责难的地步。
But while earning my Ph.D.at MIT and then as a post-doctor doing space research, the issue started to bother me这句开始,讲述了作者面对世人成见时如何挺身而出、为女性仗义执言。
65.Why does the author feel great satisfaction when talking about her class?
A)Female students no longer have to bother about gender issues.B)Her students’ performance has brought back her confidence.C)Her female students can do just as well as male students.D)More female students are pursuing science than before.
Today I research and teach at Barnard, a women’s college in New York City.Recently, someone asked me how many of the 45 students in my class were women. You cannot imagine my satisfaction at being able to answer, 45,汉译为:我现在在纽约一所女子大学Barnard做研究和教书,最近有人问我,我的班级里45名学生中有多少个女生。
19岁时,她是班里唯一的女生(the only woman in the classroom),做研究后,人们总是问她在一个男性主导的领域里工作的情形(the only woman in the classroom work in a field dominated by men)。
I know some of my students worry how they will manage their scientific research and a desire for children,意思是作者知道有些学生还是为科研与家庭之间如何平衡而忧虑。
66.What does the image the author presents to her students suggest?
A)Women students needn’t have the concerns of her generation.B)Women have more barriers on their way to academic success.C)Women can balance a career in science and having a family.D)Women now have fewer problems pursuing a science career.
I have given them this: the visual of their physics professor heavily pregnant doing physics experiments,身怀六甲的物理教授依然在做物理实验。 I know some of my students worry how they will manage their scientific research and a desire for children,一些学生担心不能很好地处理科研与生育孩子之间的平衡。 而在这句话之后,作者给出了结果:in turn they have given me the image of 45 women driven by a love of science,45个学生完全投入到科学之爱中。

Passage Three
Questions 31 to 35 are based on the following passage.Speeding off in a stolen car, the thief thinks he has got a great catch. But he is in for an unwelcome surprise. The car is fitted with a remote immobiliser(锁止器), and a radio signal from a control centre miles away will ensure that once the thief switches the engine off, he will not be able to start it again. The idea goes like this.A control box fitted to the car contains a mini-cellphone, a micro-processor and memory, and a GPS(全球定位系统)satellite positioning receiver. If the car is stolen, a coded cellphone signal will tell the control centre to block the vehicle’s engine management system and prevent the engine being restarted. In the UK, a set of technical fixes is already making life harder for car thieves.‘The pattern of vehicle crime has changed,’ says Martyn Randall, a security expert. He says it would only take him a few minutes to teach a person how to steal a car, using a bare minimum of tools. But only if the car is more than 10 years old.Modern cars are far tougher to steal, as their engine management computer won’t allow them to start unless they receive a unique ID code beamed out by the ignition(点火)key. In the UK, technologies like this have helped achieve a 31% drop in vehicle-related crime since 1997.But determined criminals are still managing to find other ways to steal cars, often by getting bold of the owner’s keys. And key theft is responsible for 40% of the thefts of vehicles fitted with a tracking system. If the car travels 100 metres without the driver confirming their ID, the system will send a signal to an operations centre that it has been stolen. The hundred metres minimum avoids false alarms due to inaccuracies in the GPS signal.Staff at the centre will then contact the owner to confirm that the car really is missing, and keep police informed of the vehicle’s movements via the car’s GPS unit.31.What’s the function of the remote immobilizer fitted to a car?
A)To help the police make a surprise attack on the car thief.B)To allow the car to lock automatically when stolen.C)To prevent the car thief from restarting it once it stops.D)To prevent car theft by sending a radio signal to the car owner.(C)
32.By saying “The pattern of vehicle crime has changed”(Lines 1-2.Para.3), Martyn Randall suggests that ________.A)it takes a longer time for the car thief to do the stealing
B)self-prepared tools are no longer enough for car theft
C)the thief has to make use of computer technology
D)the thief has lost interest in stealing cars over 10 years old(B)
33.What is essential in making a modem car tougher to steal?
A)A coded ignition key.B)A unique ID card.C)A special cellphone signal.D)A GPS satellite positioning receiver.(A)
34.Why does the tracking system set a 100-metre minimum before sending an alarm to the operations centre?
A)To leave time for the operations centre to give an alarm.B)To keep police informed of the car’s movements.C)To give the driver time to contact the operations centre.D)To allow for possible errors in the GPS system.(D)
35.What will the operations centre do first after receiving an alarm?
A)Start the tracking system.B)Contact the car owner.C)Block the car engine.D)Locate the missing car.(B)
这个场景言简意赅,概括了本篇所述的防盗系统的三个要点:immobiliser(锁止器),a control centre(控制中心),以及其结果not be able to start it again(不可启动)。
31%(achieve a 31% drop in vehicle-related crime)。
第六代说明的是汽车失窃的第一阶段:发出信号“send a signal to an operations centre that it has been stolen”。
31.What’s the function of the remote immobilizer fitted to a car?
A)To help the police make a surprise attack on the car thief.B)To allow the car to lock automatically when stolen.C)To prevent the car thief from restarting it once it stops.D)To prevent car theft by sending a radio signal to the car owner.(C)
The car is fitted with a remote immobilizer,汽车安装了一个
远程锁止器;and a radio signal from a control centre miles away will ensure that once the thief switches the engine off, he will not be able to start it again,一个数英里外的控制中心会发送一种无线电信号,一旦窃贼关掉引擎,就不可能再点着了。
但由第二段signal will tell the control centre to block可知,锁死汽车的是控制中心,汽车并不是自动锁死的。
What’s the function of the remote immobilizer fitted to a car?那么完整的回答就应该是the function of the remote immobilizer fitted to a car is to prevent the car thief from restarting it once it stops。 To prevent the car thief from restarting the engine once it stops就没有问题了。
根据第三段的内容,无线电信号是发送给了控制中心(signal will tell the control centre to),而不是汽车的主人。
32.By saying “The pattern of vehicle crime has changed”(Lines 1-2.Para.3), Martyn Randall suggests that ________.A)it takes a longer time for the car thief to do the stealing
B)self-prepared tools are no longer enough for car theft
C)the thief has to make use of computer technology
D)the thief has lost interest in stealing cars over 10 years old(B)
The pattern of vehicle crime has changed是指什么。
In the UK, a set of technical fixes is already making life harder for car thieves,意思是在英国,一套技术装置已经让偷车贼们感到生活更为艰难了。 He says it would only take him a few minutes to teach a person how to steal a car, using a bare minimum of tools. But only if the car is more than 10 years old,意思是一个偷车贼教会一个人用最少的工具偷车只需几分钟,但除非那车已经是十多年前的了。
33.What is essential in making a modem car tougher to steal?
A)A coded ignition key.B)A unique ID card.C)A special cellphone signal.D)A GPS satellite positioning receiver.(A)
Modern cars are far tougher to steal, as their engine management computer won’t allow them to start unless they receive a unique ID code beamed out by the ignition key,前半句是题目本身:现在的汽车远比以前难偷;而后是单词as,表示“因为”而不是“当”,as后面就是理由:“引擎控制系统的电脑不允许汽车发动,除非它们接到一个由点火钥匙发出的唯一的身份码。”
34.Why does the tracking system set a 100-metre minimum before sending an alarm to the operations centre?

If the car travels 100 metres without the driver confirming their ID, the system will send a signal to an operations centre that it has been stolen. The hundred metres minimum avoids false alarms due to inaccuracies in the GPS signal。
35.What will the operations centre do first after receiving an alarm?
A)Start the tracking system.B)Contact the car owner.C)Block the car engine.D)Locate the missing car.(B)
倒数第二段讲到车辆被偷后,跟踪系统会把被偷的信息发给操作中心(the system will send a signal to an operations centre that it has been stolen),这就是题目所说的操作中心接到了警报。 Staff at the centre will then contact the owner to confirm that the car really is missing, and keep police informed of the vehicle’s movements via the car’s GPS unit。
