如何利用参考书籍？How to Make Full Use of Reference Books？ Nowadays, a flood of reference books has become a great concern among students and teachers.There are all kinds of reference books in market, making students and teachers difficult to choose.Besides, reference books also bring bad influence to students and teachers.目前，大量的参考书在教师和学生中对已经形成了担忧。市场上有各种各样的参考书，让学生和教师都很难选择。除此之外，参考书也给教师和学生带来不良的影响。

For one thing, with the help of reference books, students are inclined to think about the questions less.Owing to the elaborate explanations given by reference books, many students will adopt the answers in reference books directly without thinking independently.And in a long term, students will rely on the reference books too much and lower their thinking ability.For another, reference books limit teachers’ thinking model to some extent because some teachers rely on reference books too much.Depending on reference books is not good for teachers’ breaking through the traditional teaching model and thinking model.首先，在参考书的帮助下，学生倾向于不怎么思考问题。由于参考书给出了详尽的解释，许多学生都会直接采用参考书中的答案而没有独立思考。长期下去，学生会过于依赖参考书，降低他们的思维能力。另一方面，由于一些教师过于依靠参考书，在某种程度上参考书也限制了他们的思维模式。依靠参考书并不利于教师突破传统的教学模式和思维模式。

提高大学生出勤率 Increase Attendence Rate in College Low attendance rate has been a big problem among colleges and universities.To avoid this problem and finish their teaching tasks, different teachers come up with various methods.There are two common methods as following.在高校中低出勤率一直是一个大问题。为了避免这个问题，完成教学任务，不同的教师想出了不同的方法。以下是两种常见的方法。

The most common-used method is to call over.Teachers call over each class or after an interval of one or two classes and write down the names of the absent students.And usually, if someone’s name is written down more than three times, they will lose their qualification in taking part in the final exam of this class, which means they need to repeat the class next time.Another method usually used in smaller classes is to ask questions at random.Teachers will ask some students to answer the questions to check if they attend the class.最常用的方法是点名。每节课老师都点名或者在一节课和两节课之间的间隔中点名，然后写下缺席的学生的名字。通常，如果有人的名字被登记超过三次，他们就不能参加这门课程的期末考试，这就意味着他们需要重修这门课。另一个在小班中常用的方法是随机提问问题。老师会叫一些学生来回答问题来检查他们是否有来上课。

However, even though these methods force students to attend the classes and increase the attendance rate to some extent, it doesn't solve the problem throughout.In my opinion, the most important point is that teacher should improve their teaching skills, break through traditional teaching model and try to make their classes more active and interesting so that students will attend the classes of their own accord.Meantime, students should try to improve their self-discipline ability and learn to appreciate the advantages of their teachers.然而，尽管这些方法可以强迫学生去上课而且出勤率在某种程度上也有所增长，但这并不能彻底地解决问题。我觉得最重要的一点是教师要提高他们的教学技能，突破传统的教学模式，来使他们的课变得更生动有趣，这样学生们才会主动去上课。同时，学生应该努力提高自己的自律能力并学会欣赏他们老师的优点。

大学生逃课现象 Skipping Classes in College Campus Skipping classes is quite common in college campus in that students have more freedom on college than ever before.But why do they want to skip classes? Different students have different reasons concerning it.在大学中逃课是很常见的，因为学生们在大学中得到的自由比以往都要多。但是为什么他们要逃课？对于这一问题不同的学生有不同的原因。

There are some reasons given by some students.First, some students skip their classes just because they don’t like the classes.They think that some classes are quite boring and time-wasting, as well as they can’t learn a lot from the classes.Therefore, they skip this kind of classes to study individually.This is one of the reasons for high absence rate in some public courses.Second, many students skip their classes because they lack of self-discipline and are indulged in other things, such as playing online games.They cannot control themselves well and finally lost their aim and motivation to learn.In addition, oversleeping and being ill are also the reasons for class absence.They consider that their absence will not be noticed if they teachers don’t call over.一些学生说了很多理由。首先，一些学生逃课仅仅只是因为他们不喜欢那门课。他们觉得一些课程是非常乏味、浪费时间的，而且从课堂上他们也学不到什么东西。因此，他们就逃了那一类课，然后去自习。这是一些公共课程中高缺勤率的原因之一。第二，很多学生逃课是因为他们缺乏自律并沉迷于其他事情，如，玩在线游戏。他们自控能力不是很好，终于会丢失学习目标和学习动机。另外，睡过头，生病也是上课缺席的原因。他们觉得如果老师不点名的话他们不去上课也不会被发现。

There are various reasons for skipping classes, but as far as I am concerned, skipping classes should not be advocated because students always can learn something from each class, no matter how boring the class is.In addition, skipping classes is a kind of waste of money.What’s more, attending classes is also a kind of respect for our teachers.Therefore, please attend each class as much as possible.有各种各样的逃课理由，但我觉得不应该提倡不上课，因为每一门课学生都可以从中学到一些东西，不管那门课是有多么的无聊课。而且，逃课也是浪费钱的一种方式。更重要的是，去上课也是对老师的尊重。因此，请尽量地去上课吧。

大学生考证热 Certificate Craze on Campus It is quite a common phenomenon that college students are enthusiastic over getting all kinds of certificates, such as accountant certificate, teacher certificate and so on.What is the reason for that? And it should be advocated or not?

这是一个相当普遍的现象，大学生都热衷于获得各种证书，如会计证书，教师资格证书等。这是为什么呢？应不应该提倡呢？

In my opinion, there are two reasons accounting for the phenomenon.For one thing, many students think that the more certificates they get now, the more chances they can get a good job in the future.They are told that the companies or institutions think highly of the certificate when interviewing.Therefore, they try their best to get all kinds of certificates, even though some have no any relationship with their majors or interests.For another, following others’ choices is another reason.A number of students go to purse the certificates because they find that many classmates around them are doing that so they think it would be safe to follow others.在我看来，有两个原因。一方面，许多学生认为他们得到了越多的证书，将来他们能够得到一份好工作的机会就越大。他们被告知说，公司或一些机构在采访的时候都认为证书很重要。因此，他们努力获得各种证书，即使是一些和他们专业和兴趣没有任何关系的证书。另一方面，随波逐流也是一个原因。许多学生用钱去买证书，因为他们发现他们周围的很多同学都是这样做的，所以他们觉得跟着别人会比较安全些。

From my point of view, it is not wise for everyone to follow others’ steps to get all kinds of certificates.I consider that we should make our choices combining with our own concrete conditions.Besides, certificate is not the only one criterion to measure our ability and we should not be too enthusiastic over it.在我看来，每个人都跟随别人的脚步去获得各种证书是不明智的。我认为我们应该结合自己的具体情况而做出选择。此外，证书并不是衡量自己能力的唯一标准，我们不应该对它过于热衷。

机器翻译与人脑翻译 Machine Translation and Human Translation Nowadays, all sorts of translation software or electronic dictionaries are emerging in an endless stream and people can get a lot of help from using of them when studying and working.Therefore, some people say that new translation tools will inevitably replace the human translation one day in that translation software or machines are becoming increasing exact and accurate in dealing with the words or phrases, even the sentences.In addition, compared with human translation, new translation tools are more convenient and less time-consuming.如今，各种翻译软件或电子词典层出不穷，在学习或者工作中人们可以从中得到很多帮助。因此，有人说新的翻译工具将会替代人工翻译因为软件或机器翻译在处理单词或短语甚至是句子的时候越来越精确。此外，与人工翻译相比，新的翻译工具更方便、更省时。

However, on the other hand, some people hold that translation machine will never replace human translation, as computer will never replace human brain.The sentences or the passages translated by translation machines are rigid and inflexible because translation machines cannot change or convert the meaning of the words or phrases according to different occasions.And what’s worse, if we depend on translation machines too much, we will be lazy in thinking independently and likely to lose our ability of thinking.然而，另一方面，有些人认为翻译机器永远都不会取代人工翻译就像电脑永远不会取代人脑一样。由翻译工具翻出来的句子或者段落会比较僵化死板因为翻译机器不能根据不同场合改变单词或短语的意思。更糟糕的是，如果我们过于依赖翻译机器，我们会懒于进行独立思考，可能会失去思考的能力。

Taking above into consideration, I support the latter.As far as I am concerned, we should never let ourselves controlled by digital products or other things.As for translation, I think that we should try our best to do it by ourselves at first before using the tools, especially the students.综上所述，我支持后者。在我看来，我们不应该让自己受数码产品或其他东西控制。至于翻译，我认为我们应该在使用翻译工具之前尽我们最大的努力去想，尤其是学生。

How really should do to college students?

Maybe I can explain the first question with some reasons.Nowadays, college students are under more pressure from school work and coming employment.On one hand, they should try to pass the tests to get credit;otherwise they can’t get the academic degree.They may be defeated by the challenges or difficulties.They just want to do something exciting to escape the problem what they faced.On the other hand, college life is more flexible.Students could choose various ways to study.If they can’t make good use of time wisely, the result is that they will get lost.Students give up easily and can’t behold on consistently and persistently.也许我可以解释第一个问题。如今，大学生学业、就业的压力越来越大。一方面，他们应该通过考试来获得学分；否则他们不能获得学位证书。他们可能会被挑战或困难打败。他们只想做一些令人兴奋的事来逃离他们所面临的问题。另一方面，大学生活更灵加的活。学生可以选择各种方法来学习。如果他们不能充分理智地利用时间，他们就会迷失。学生轻易放弃，而且不能有始有终、坚持不懈。

网络游戏 Online Games As computer and Internet are increasing entering ordinary people, in addition to the development of scientific technology, more and more online games are available and popular among people, especially the youngsters.However, this phenomenon brings a lot of worries to many parents and teachers in that many students who have lower self-discipline are addicted to the games and indulge into these games too much, which affects their health and academic performance.随着计算机和互联网不断地进入普通人家庭，除了科学技术的发展，越来越多的网络游戏可供人们来玩，它们也很受欢迎，尤其是年轻人。然而，这一现象给许多家长和教师带来了很多困扰，很多学生自律能力比较低，他们沉迷于游戏，影响他们的健康和学业成绩。

But on the other hand, some people point out that online games are not good for nothing.They argue that playing online games can help the player practice their reaction capacity, which is good for forming prompt and responsive thinking.In addition, the players can temporarily release from the great pressure in work and study and enjoy themselves when playing online games.但另一方面，有人指出，网络游戏并不是没有好处的。他们认为，玩网络游戏可以帮助玩家练习他们的反应能力，这对形成敏捷的反应和思维很有帮助。而且，在玩电脑游戏的时候玩家可以暂时释放在工作和学习上的巨大压力并感到愉悦。

From my point of view, I think playing games is not a bad choice of indoor relaxation for those who have high self-discipline.But for those who have no enough self-controlled ability, it is not wise to try to play these games.从我的角度来看，我认为游戏对于那些自律能力强的人来说是放松的一个不错的选择。但对于那些没有足够的自我控制能力的人，玩游戏则是不明智的。

探险活动 On Adventure Activities Depending on personal experience, preference and emotion, different people have different views towards adventure activities like rock climbing and bungee jumping.As far as I am concerned, these adventure activities have a great positive effect on our physical and mental health.由于个人经历，爱好和情感不同，对于冒险活动不同的人有不同的看法，像攀岩、蹦极。我觉得这些冒险活动对我们的身心健康有积极的影响。

古之欲明明德于天下者，先治其国;欲治其国者，先齐其家;欲齐其家者，先修其身;欲修其身者，先正其心;欲正其心者，先诚其意;欲诚其意者，先致其知，致知在格物。

物格而后知至，知至而后意诚，意诚而后心正，心正而后身修，身修而后家齐，家齐而后国治，国治而后天下平。

自天子以至于庶人，壹是皆以修身为本。

其本乱而末治者否矣，其所厚者薄，而其所薄者厚，未之有也!

此谓知本，此谓知之至也。

所谓诚其意者，毋自欺也，如恶恶臭，如好好色，此之谓自谦，故君子必慎其独也!小人闲居为不善，无所不至，见君子而后厌然，掩其不善，而着其善。人之视己，如见其肺肝然，则何益矣!此谓诚于中，形于外，故君子必慎其独也。曾子曰：「十目所视，十手所指，其严乎!」富润屋，德润身，心广体胖，故君子必诚其意。

《诗》云：「瞻彼淇澳，菉竹猗猗。有斐君子，如切如磋，如琢如磨。瑟兮僴兮，赫兮喧兮。有斐君子，终不可諠兮!」「如切如磋」者，道学也;「如琢如磨」者，自修也;「瑟兮諠兮」者，恂栗也;「赫兮喧兮」者，威仪也;「有斐君子，终不可諠兮」者，道盛德至善，民之不能忘也。

《诗》云：「于戏前王不忘!」君子贤其贤而亲其亲，小人乐其乐而利其利，此以没世不忘也。

《诗》云：「乐只君子，民之父母。」民之所好好之，民之所恶恶之，此之谓民之父母。《诗》云：「节彼南山，维石岩岩。赫赫师尹，民具尔瞻。」有国者不可以不慎，辟则为天下戮矣。《诗》云：「殷之未丧师，克配上帝。仪监于殷，峻命不易。」道得众则得国，失众则失国。

是故君子先慎乎德。有德此有人，有人此有土，有土此有财，有财此有用。德者本也，财者末也，外本内末，争民施夺。是故财聚则民散，财散则民聚。是故言悖而出者，亦悖而入;货悖而入者，亦悖而出。

《康诰》曰：「惟命不于常!」道善则得之，不善则失之矣。

楚书曰：「楚国无以为宝，惟善以为宝。」舅犯曰：「亡人无以为宝，仁亲以为宝。」

《秦誓》曰：「若有一介臣，断断兮无他技，其心休休焉，其如有容焉。人之有技，若己有之;人之彦圣，其心好之，不啻若自其口出。实能容之，以能保我子孙黎民，尚亦有利哉!人之有技，媢嫉以恶之;人之彦圣，而违之俾不通。实不能容，以不能保我子孙黎民，亦曰殆哉!」唯仁人放流之，迸诸四夷，不与同中国，此谓唯仁人为能爱人，能恶人。见贤而不能举，举而不能先，命也;见不善而不能退，退而不能远，过也。好人之所恶，恶人之所好，是谓拂人之性，灾必逮夫身。是故君子有大道，必忠信以得之，骄泰以失之。

生财有大道。生之者众，食之者寡，为之者疾，用之者舒，则财恒足矣。仁者以财发身，不仁者以身发财。未有上好仁而下不好义者也，未有好义其事不终者也，未有府库财非其财者也。孟献子曰：「畜马乘，不察于鸡豚;伐冰之家，不畜牛羊;百乘之家，不畜聚敛之臣。与其有聚敛之臣，宁有盗臣。」此谓国不以利为利，以义为利也。长国家而务财用者，必自小人矣。彼为善之，小人之使为国家，灾害并至。虽有善者，亦无如之何矣!此谓国不以利为利，以义为利也。

大学的宗旨在于彰明自身的光明之德，在于亲爱民众，在于使自己达到至善的境界。知道达到至善的境界而后才能确定志向，确定了志向才能心无杂念，·心无杂念才能专心致志，专心致志才能虑事周祥，虑事周祥才能达到至善。万物都有其本末，凡事都有其终始。知道了应该先作什么，后作什么，那就接近于大学的宗旨了。

古代的想要把自己的光明之德推广于天下的人，首先要治理好自己的国家;要治理好自己的国家，就要先管理好自己的家庭;要管理好自己的家庭，就要先修养好自身的品德;要修养好自身的品德，就要先端正内心;要端正内心，就要先意念真诚;要意念真诚，就要先知道什么是善恶吉凶，行善则有善报，行恶则有恶报。报应的不爽才能使其辨别善恶，能辨别善恶才能使其意念真诚，意念真诚才能使内心端正，内心端正才能使品德好生修养，品德好生修养才能使家庭管理得好，家庭管理得好才能使国家得到治理，国家得到治理才能使天下太平。上自天子，下至普通百姓，都要把修养自身品德的间题当做根本问题来抓，一这个根本问题没有抓好，而要使家庭、国家、天下的问题解决好，那是不可能的。该下力气的地方没有下，不该下力气的地方却下了力气，这样作而希望得到好的结果，也是没有的事。这就叫做知道根本，这就叫做最高的智慧。

厂少所谓意念真诚，就是不要自己欺骗自己。这就好比厌恶臭秽之的气味而嘴上不讲，又好比喜欢漂亮的女人而佯装讨厌，这叫做自我掩饰。所以君子一定谨慎自己的独处。小人在一人独处时作起坏事来，什么坏事都做得出来，只有在见到君子时才躲躲藏藏，掩盖他做过的坏事，炫耀他做过的好事。可是在他人看来，就如.同见到了他的五脏六腑那样清清楚楚，这样作又有什么好处呢!这就叫做内心有什么想法，必然要从行动上表现出来，所以君子一定要谨慎自己的终处。曾子说过：“很多眼在看着你，很多手在指着你，这多么让人敬畏啊，’毛人的贫富可以从其住室看得出来，人的道德可以从其行动看得出来，心胸宽广自然身体舒泰，所以君子一定要意念真诚。

《诗经》上说：“看那湾湾的淇水岸边，慕竹郁郁葱葱。有位风度 高雅的君子，好像切磋过的象牙，好像琢磨过的美玉。庄严而又威武，显赫而又坦荡。风度高雅的君子，教人始终难忘。”“如切如磋”是说君子的研究学间;“如琢如磨”，是说君子的修养品德。”“瑟兮侗兮”，是说君子的内心恭敬戒惧;“赫兮喧兮”,是说君子的外表威严。“有斐君子，终不可喧兮”，是说君子的道德尽善尽美，让老百姓难以忘怀。《诗经》上又说，“呜呼!先王的美德使人难忘。”君子从先王那里学到了尊重贤人和热爱亲人，小人从先王那里享受到快乐和得到实惠，因此，在先王去世以后，无论是谁都对他念念不忘。《康浩》上说：“文王能彰明德行。”《大甲》上说：“你应当关注上天赋于你的光明德行。”《尧典》上说：“帝尧能够彰明崇高的道德。”说的都是人君要自明其德。商汤的《盘铭》上说：“如能一曰自新，就能曰旧自新，每曰自新。”《康浩》上说：“要洗心革面，重作新人。”《诗经》上说：“姬周虽然原来是殷商的诸侯国，但已受天命取代殷商为天子。”所以君子在曰新其德方面是十分努力的。《诗经》_上说：“天子辖地千里，皆是百姓所居。”《诗经》上又说：“黄鸟声声鸣，止息在山麓。”孔子说：“鸟儿的止息，都知道应该止息于何处，难道人反而不如鸟吗i,，《诗经》上说：“端庄恭敬的文主啊!一光明磊落，知其所当自处。”当国君的，要达到仁的境界;当臣子的，要达到敬的境界;当子女的，要达到孝的境界;当父母的，要达到慈的境界;与国人交往，要达到信的境界。孔子说：“审理诉讼，我和别人差不多;一定要说有什么不同的话，那就是我想使诉讼从根本上不再发生。”要使无理的一方不敢凭借狡辩取胜，德行张大到使民众从内心敬畏。这就叫做知道事情的根本。

所谓要修养好自身的品德首先要端正内心：是因为自身有所愤怒，内心就不能端正;自身有所恐惧，内心就不能端正;自身有所嗜好，内心就不能端正;自身有所忧患，内心就不能端正。当你心不在焉的时候，就会视而不见，就会听而不闻，就会吃东西不知道滋味。这就叫做要修养好自身的品德首先要端正内心。

所以君子首先要考虑的是德行。有了德行就有了民众，有了民众就有了国土，有了国土就有了财富，有了财富就有了国用。德行是本，财富是末。轻本重末，就会从老百姓手上抢夺财富。所以说，国君聚敛财富，百姓就背离而去;国君布施财富，百姓就络绎而归。所以，国君既然有不中听的话出口，百姓就会有不中听的话进入其耳;国君的财货既然不是从正道而得，也就会不从正道出去。《康浩》上说：“天命并不总是保佑某一个人”意思是说，有好的德行就能得到它，没有好的德行就会失掉它。《楚书》上说：“楚国不把别的什么东西当做宝贝，只把德行当做宝贝。”舅犯说：“流亡者没有什么可以当做珍宝的，只有把珍视仁义作为珍宝。”

《秦誓》上说、“假如有这样的一位大臣，诚恳忠实，无他特长，但其品德高尚，心地宽厚，能够容人容物。别人有了什么本领，就好像他自己有了;别人的才能，别人的美德，他都衷心地赞美，不但口头上加以称道，而且还能包容推荐他们，这就使我的子孙黎民得到保护，也有利子国家。别人有了什么本领，他就嫉妒厌恶;别人的才能，别人的美德，他压着盖着不让国君知道，不能包容推荐，因而使我的子孙黎民不能得到保护，对国家也很危险。”只有仁爱的国君能够流放此辈嫉贤妒能之人，把他们驱逐到四夷，不和他们同居国中。这就是说，只有仁人才懂得要热爱什么样的人，厌恶什么样的人。见到贤人而不能推荐，推荐以后而不能重用，这是怠慢。见到坏人而不能斥退，斥退以后又不能流放远方，这是错误。喜欢人民所讨厌的，讨厌人民所喜欢的，这叫做违背人的本性，其结果势必灾祸临头。所以君子有一条治国大道，一定要忠信才能得到它，骄傲放纵就会失去它。
