谢耳朵是一个集高智商、极度理性、偏执、社交障碍、各种怪癖等等于一身的罕见喜剧角色，编剧本身把这个角色以超高标准和超高难度来设定得如此仿佛来自火星，在经过专家润色的复杂台词下，艾美奖喜剧类新科视帝吉姆-帕森斯人角合一，可以说，假如谢耳朵这个角色换个人演，《生活大爆炸》可能就没这么好看了。

谢尔顿也有孩子气的方面。比如他一定要沙发的某个位置，别人不许坐；对饮食非常挑剔，每天都有固定的菜单；只因为喜欢火车，一定要坐火车去加利福尼亚。在他生病的时候，谢尔顿需要他的母亲（或佩妮）来照顾他，包括为他唱《Soft Kitty》，并帮他在胸口抹药膏。他说话从不能被打断，无法忍受他所不知道的事物，无法保守秘密，见不得吵架或打架。谢尔顿没有驾照，需要搭朋友的车，而且认为以他的智商没有必要去学开车。

在刚开始，谢耳朵可能还只是主角之一，但是后来编剧显然根据反馈而将他塑造为领衔主角。谢耳朵有他聪明调皮可爱任性的一面，观众对他也是异常宽容，这的确可以说是对理性天才的一种好感，同时对敢于蔑视一切社会规则的人的一种心底鼓励。同为宅男，谢耳朵毫无疑问已经是最高境界，宅男未必想成为他，但是对他的特立独行有一种尊重和乐见其成。

身高1米88的吉姆-帕森斯其实已经37岁，是不是看上去像27岁？据说在本届艾美才刚刚向交往了3年的男友求婚，可谓双喜临门，再加上薪水由每集4万美元涨到每集20万美元（其他两位主角也有每集6万美元涨到20万美元），在喜剧电视剧中算是高薪了，拿过休斯顿大学戏剧学士和圣迭戈大学艺术硕士的Jimmy Pea（他的昵称）终于碰上了适合他的角色，这种量身定做的机会真是可与而不可求。莱纳德-霍夫斯塔德（Leonard Hofstadter）算是正常派了，谢耳朵太过社交障碍和不知人情，总需要莱纳德来圆场，其实在谢耳朵心底里，也有颗容易脆弱受伤的心需要别人的呵护。在其他宅男容易太high的情况下，有莱纳德一个正常型算是作为剧集的底子，比较放心，剧迷对他的老好人做法也是赞许的。

四个宅男里学历最低的，应用物理硕士，霍华德-沃洛维兹（Howard Wolowitz），虽然他是剧中头号猥琐宅男，但是，我认为很多女观众是喜欢他的，他比较可爱，每次他的紧身裤装扮，加上他正经却很好笑的脸，加上一心想把妹的心态，从中文“洗个痛快澡”，到带你去火车开车，霍华德，他是个有追求的男人。

拉杰-库萨帕里（Rajesh），印度阿三，本来算是调剂角色，不过在剧中也满出彩的，印度人其实本身从穿着，印度英语，风俗文化都有一些笑点，而且不喝酒就没法和女人说话，不过喝酒以后泡妞很顺手，总之算是很称职的配角。

佩妮（Penny），本身是花瓶角色，喜剧总需要一些男女关系的点，一个女主角已经算少的了，所以当然要来个美女，最好是胸大无脑的，好像不少人希望佩妮和谢耳朵来段，其实在莱纳德和、佩妮来一段之后，大家已经能觉得他们的关系有点尴尬了，佩妮看上去有她纯真邻家的一面，中规中矩。

《生活大爆炸》的科技宅男总是能时不时冒出一些新奇的点子或者小发明，这些东西总是让人眼前一亮，而且效果也常常惊人。
