小学英语口语训练初探

英语,与其说是一门学科,倒不如说是一种语言。所以,学好英语的关键和检查英语能力的标准都应该是以口语为主。但是,我们广大的英语教师往往注重的是学生的考试能力、阅读能力、书面能力等等的培养,而忽视了口语的训练。其实,学生如果不能够熟练、流利地运用英语进行交谈,那么即使书面能力再优秀,卷面成绩再高,我们也不能说学生就已经掌握好英语这门语言。因此,我认为有必要训练好口语。

如何训练学生的口语呢?我认为要做到以下几点。

一、走出误区,更新观念

对于英语,无论是教的,还是学的,目的都是为了考试,英语教师评价一个学生学习英语的好坏是考试的成绩。因此,我们教的都是“哑巴”英语。所以,我们要想教好英语,首先是走出误区。抓住小学生对新鲜事物的好奇心理,鼓励他们大胆地、大声地读说英语。就像李阳的《疯狂英语》里说的:不要在意别人的讥笑,大声地说英语。这样既能锻炼自己的胆量,克服对英语的心里障碍,又能锻炼整个舌头的灵活性。所以,英语口语的训练,一定要让学生“开口”。

二、听说结合,以听促说

口语教学的目的是培养学生的口头表达能力,而大部分学生 1

存在的问题是英语听说能力差,尤其是听力差。因此,很有必要有针对性地弥补这一缺陷,设法提高学生的听、说能力,只有这样,才能更好地掌握好这门语言。

听和说是密切联系的。听是理解和吸收信息的活动,说是表达思想和传递信息的交际过程。听是说的基础,听懂了,才能说。也就是说,听是理解、吸收,是活用的基础,没有理解和吸收,就不可能达到活用,谈不上表达。同样道理,没有表达和活用,理解和吸收能力也得不到巩固和发展。一句话,如果你都听不懂别人在说什么,又怎能跟人家说些什么呢?

所以,“以听促说”是指以听带动说,在听的基础上提高说的能力。因此,我们可以用好小学英语(PEP)教材里的“story time”、TPR活动里“listen,look and guess”、“listen and point”、“listen and do”以及《活动手册》等等资料,来提高学生的听力。

三、创造条件,灵活运用

口语训练切忌对一些课文瞎背,而不知道灵活运用,更不会用自己的话来描述。因此,我们教师要利用小学生模仿性高、接受能力强的特点,尽量创设良好的语言环境。那么学生能在浓厚的英语氛围中交流,效果自然好了。如加上恰当的方法,灵活运用,更是事半功倍。利用教材的各种资源,我个人认为可以运用以下几种方法来训练学生的口语。

1、开展英语角,进行Free talk

开展英语角,进行Free talk。这是创设环境的一个范畴。主要就是为学生提供一个用英语交流的平台,尽量让学生开口说英语。目标不是学生能说多少,对与错也不是主要,关键是要开口去说。切记,一开始不要这要求那强调的,如语法、语调什么的,这样,会吓了学生,得不偿失。

如在教完小学英语三年级(PEP)下册的Unit2(My family)、Unit3(How many?)时,就可以开一次Free talk。利用学过的句型(如:How many、Who is this?……)、准备好的道具(如:照片、图画、头饰)和提示一些关键词等。可以分组Free talk、自由Free talk等。只要学生开口说英语了,就应该给予肯定。使学生在这种氛围下,慢慢养成说英语的习惯。

2、引导复述,锻炼口语

英语教学中,复述是一个重要的环节。引导学生对所学内容进行复述,既能有效地让所学内容在脑海里情景再现,达到巩固的效果,又能把语言知识转化为语言技能,也就是口语的表达能力。因为复述不是单一的背诵课文,还可以加上自己的理解。所以。能使学生逐步学会用自己的话来描述。那么口头的表达能力自然就会加强。

在引导学生复述时,有很多方法可以利用。如:利用简笔画、挂图复述法;利用录音机复述法;利用电教多媒体复述法;利用关键词语复述法;利用手势提示复述法;按照空间、时间、线索复述法等等。如在教完三年级(PEP)下册Unit One(Welcome back

to school)时,可以通过关键词:have、from、friend、welcome……等单词,引导学生进行复述,鼓励学生在复述的时候,可以加上以前所学的交际用语。这样,既能让学生学会介绍他人及做自我介绍,又能复习以前的熟语,更重要的是,学生在复述时,由于单词量的增多、句型的加长,开口说英语的信心也大了。

3、设计游戏,以玩带讲

游戏,有时也是很好的口语训练方法。爱玩爱闹是学生的天性。而游戏可以使学生的心情放松,减弱对英语的畏难情绪。学生可以在游戏中不知不觉地交流、会话。

在设计游戏活动时,教师可以利用教材里的Let’s play,或自己设计游戏。如在三年级上册(PEP)的Unit4(We love animal)时,我们可以采用“Can you guess?”的游戏,把动物玩具放在口袋里让学生猜。并用What is in it?、Can you guess?、It is a……、Look,I have a……等句型来进行交谈。还可以采用Pass the message(传话)游戏,利用“T have a dog、a duck……句型,让学生一个一个地传下去,逐渐增多。从而达到开口讲英语的目的。

总之,人在小的时候,学习语言特别快。我们教师应该抓住这一特点,想尽千方百计,帮助学生说好英语。英语是世界上最实用的语言之一,未来,英语的作用将越来越大。在这种情况下,我们总不能把学生教得要拿一枝笔跟人家交流英语吧?这和“哑巴”有什么区别呢?
