【摘要】本文通过对《新目标英语》(Go for it)(七年级)教材的认识,分析了《新目标英语》(Go For It)教材的特点,什么是任务型教学以及如何设计活动任务和设计活动应注意的问题等方面的内容,并列举在教学实际中如何运用“任务型”教学模式的实例来阐述“任务型”教学模式与Go For It教材的内在联系,说明“任务型”教学是培养学生综合运用英语能力的有效方法,是《新课程标准》所应具备的教学模式。

国家《英语课程标准》明确指出:提高任务型教学模式,把综合语言能力的培养落实在教学过程中,倡导体验、实践、参与、交流和合作的学习方式,实现任务的目标,感受成功,强调学生能用英语做事情。通过一学期的英语教学实际运用,我从中感受颇深。

一、《新目标英语》(Go for it)教材的特点

1、教材内容涉及面宽,信息量大;任务设计的形式多种多样,载体丰富多彩

本套教材充分考虑到12——15岁儿童的心理和生理特点, 照顾到知识性,趣味性和实用性等诸多方面。纵观第一册的教学内容, 该册教材中涉及的功能项目有:打招呼、介绍、识别人和物及所属关系、数字、谈论空间关系、方位、谈论时间, 提供与请求帮助、饮食、爱好、职业、购物等等。每一项功能项目都选用一些较为简单的语言结构,并且在日常生活中使用频率较高。取材贴近学生的生活,与之戚戚相关。例如自我介绍由此引申为介绍同学、家庭等。所设计的内容是同学们最感兴趣的话题。这些取材体现了以人为本的教育思想。人本化教育认为:培养自我实现的人是人本化课程的核心,课程内容建立在学生的需要、生长的自然模式和个性发展的基础上,既体现出认知、思维、情感以及行动之间的相互渗透和相互作用,又与学生的生长过程有机地联系起来。从第一册的第一单元同学们就能感受到通过学习自我介绍从而引伸为介绍同学和朋友,以及家庭的成员,更能加强学生运用英语的能力,由听、说发展到写的提高,课本的设计始终是由此引伸而入。同学们之间有很多的话题可以用英语交流,例如:What’s your name? Do you like sports? What kind of sports do you like? Say something about your favourite food.Go shopping.My favourite movies等等。非常贴进学生的生活,是同学们最感兴趣的话题。

2、教材图文并茂,增强对学生的吸引力

本教材图文并茂,从视觉上有一种全新的认识,学生的心理更愿意接受它,文字说明的内容比以前的旧课本减少多了,提供机会给予同学们的想象、表达空间,满足学生的各种要求,这样能更好地促进学生的个性的充分发展和潜能的实现。由于活动增加了,促使学生之间形成一种相互帮助,共同提高的良好人际关系,增进学生之间的感情交流。

3、新目标英语对学生的口头表达能力,同时也有更高的要求

从课本的结构中看,口语表达能力比以前要求提高了。课本的每个单元中的每个小节都有pairwork或 groupwork的练习,使学生及时得到了口语训练的机会,增强了对知识点的记忆。

4、学生写作能力从一开始就能够得到锻炼

如第一单元写 school ID card,第二单元学习如何写寻物启事和招领启事,第三单元练习介绍某人,第四单元写便条,第六单元学习列购物清单,第七单元学习如何写英语购物广告,第十单元写招聘启事,等等,使学生的英语实际运用能力得到了大大的提高,而不是像以前的英语教学形式那样,学哑巴英语,或是所学的英语知识在实际运用中相差甚远。

5、学生阅读量增大,学习目标更高

由于新目标英语课本的文字说明较少,提供了大量的时间来阅读课外与之有关的文章,新目标英语课程规定初三学生的阅读量要达到十万字左右,初一应有大约三万字左右的文章

阅读量,这就给学生的学习提出更高的要求。要求学生要有良好的英语学习习惯,培养学生有良好的热爱学习的习惯,把英语课堂学习延伸到课外,用以丰富学生的课堂知识。

二、任务型语言教学的概念与特点

所谓任务型语言教学(Task-based Language Teaching)就是直接通过课堂教学让学生用英语完成各种真实的生活、学习、工作等任务(task),将课堂教学的目标真实化,任务化,从而培养其运用英语的能力。也就是说以具体的任务为载体,以完成任务为动力,把知识和技能融为一体,通过听、说、读、写等活动,用所学语言去做事,在做事的过程中发展运用自己所学语言。简单地说就是:为用而学,在用中学,学中用,学了就用。它立足于学生本身,把学生作为教学的主体,教师从学生“学”的角度设计出各种教学活动,使学生在完成各种任务的过程中逐步形成运用语言的能力,能“自己站起来走路”。

1、通过交流来学会交际任务型语言教学中各项任务的完成离不开真实的交流,交流的最终目的是交际能力的提高,只有任务型练习才会给学生真正交流的机会,才能使学生真正学会运用。

2、将具有真实性的语言材料引入学习的环境因为真实的场景能使学生在轻松的环境中不受任何约束地真正体会语言,理解语言并大胆地运用语言,达到脱口而出的效果,而情景教学是将具有真实性的语言材料引入学习环境的有效途径。

3、既关注语言本身,也关注学习过程任务型语言课堂把整个教学目标设计成符合本目标的若干个任务(task),让学生在教师指导下完成各项任务,进而按步骤完成课堂的总体目标。学生在具体目标下完成任务的过程既是对新知识的理解和运用又是对旧知识的巩固和掌握,任务完成的好坏就直接体现着教学效果。

4、具有师生角色学生是交际者,其主要任务是沟通,具有学习的自主性,并经常进行两人或小组活动。为了使学生成为交际者,教师应扮演助学者,任务的组织者和完成任务的监督者,有时也加入到活动之中担当学生的伙伴,与学生共同完成交际任务。

5、学习者个人的经历作为课堂学习的因素任务型语言教学追求的效果是让学习者能用自己的语言知识解决自己的实际问题,让学生自主、自发地投入到自觉的语言实践中去,以完成各项任务而体验自己的学习过程。

三、任务型语言教学的活动设计

采用“任务型”教学途径,教师应懂得如何设计任务。在设计任务时,教师应根据学生的学习兴趣和语言水平,找出教学内容与学习生活经验和兴趣之间的最佳结合点,恰当地确定任务的内容和形式。

1、任务的设计要有兴趣性、真实性

任务型教学活动是以学生的兴趣和生活经验为出发点,内容和方式真实,旨在培养学生在真实生活中运用语言的能力,让学生在教学活动中参与和完成任务,摆脱传统的以教材知识为中心的枯燥无味的教学方式,使课堂语言活动近似于习得过程。在《Go For It》中得到充分体现。如,七年级下册Unit 1 Where is your pen pal from?一课,教学目的是让学生掌握一些国名,民族及语言。根据学生的兴趣和年龄特征,教师课前让学生收集自己喜爱的球星、歌星,一些城市景点等相关资料。上课时教师在黑板上贴一幅世界地图,先将学生分成4—6人一组,让他们自己在组内应用手中的资料交流,然后推荐2人到讲台前介绍自己喜爱的人物,介绍完后再将他们的照片贴在地图上相应的国家上面。在这一任务设计中,通过听、说、演、练等活动,把抽象的语言文字和有趣的实际生活应用联系起来,使学生在完成任务的过程中体验到成功。在这样的氛围中学生愿学、乐学,有很高的学习积极性。再如:在学完unit 9 Do you want to go to a movie? 后,可要求学生课后写一篇名为My favourite movie的文章。要求文中包含如下信息:What’s the name of the movie? 任务越容易,参加任务的人就越多,获得的成功体验也就越多,学习兴趣就会越浓厚。因此,在设计任务时应循序渐进,由易到难。刚开始设计的任务应稍微简单些,让大部分学生都容易参与进来。随着任务的渐渐深入,学生对任务信息的了解不断增加,稍难的任务也会显得容易起来。如 Unit6 Do you like bananas?可设计如下任务:(1)让学生看投影片2分钟,然后关投影,让学生说出画面中的food, drink and fruit(2)Make a survey,问一个朋友Do you like…?然后教师布置学生作一个小型调查,用英语询问并记录班中各个学生最喜欢的食物,各小组汇总调查情况后用统计表的形式表示调查结果,然后各人用英文写一篇简短的调查报告。(3)教师把自己收集的英语食品广告和文体用品广告分发给学生,然后教师在课堂上要求学生说出印象最深的广告和引导学生分析广告中英语用语和句法的特点。在此基础上,教师向学生提供一些食品和文体用品,要求学生以小组为单位为这些物品设计文字并加上图像的广告。以上三个任务中,任务1的目标培养学生的认读能力,任务2的目标是培养学生用英语进行口、笔头交际的能力,任务3的目标是培养学生观察、想象、创新的能力。同时我们还应该注意到,任务与目标间并非存在一对一的对应关系,有时一项较复杂的任务可以同时具有几个目标,如上述的任务2的教学目标可能是练习英语食品的名称,也可能是练习用英语作简短问答,或学习用英语填写表格并将表格的内容转写成小型调查报告等等。任务的目标有多种多样,从大的方面来说它可以是培养听、说、读、写的技能,也可以是促进英语与其他学科知识的融合;可以用于激发学生的学习兴趣,也可以用于树立学生的学习自信心;它可以培养学生观察事物的能力,也可以培养学生与他人合作的本领。至于每个单元或每一课中安排的交际任务的目的,则可以根据学生当时的学习内容具体考虑。

语言交际是一种充满创造性的心智活动,多设计一些能启迪学生思维,激发学生学习热情的任务型活动,可以提高学生的综合运用语言能力。如:(1)Duty report:值日生介绍自己、家庭成员或朋友的情况,其它学生可互相提问题,询问个人职业。(2)Play a guessing game:用问题“what does he do?”引入任务,让学生猜测多媒体课件中人物的职业,以此激发学生的学习兴趣,并训练学生的发散思维能力。(3)Ask the way :创设问路情景,根据实际情况 telling the way,eg,I want to go the airport完成对话活动。(4)Have a discussion :学生分小组讨论(5)What do you want to be when you grow up?通过训练把课内的语言学习与课外的语言活动结合起来,改变了过去老师一言堂的模式,变学生为主体,课堂主要是提供了一个学生获取知识的平台。学生在活动中主动地获取知识。

4、任务的设计要贴近生活情景交融

任务型活动的目的是培养学生用英语做事的能力,即实际应用语言的能力。如《Go For It》Unit7 How much are these pants?一课,为了让学生学会买卖东西这个功能,教师将教室分成几个商店,鼓励学生利用手中的“钱”去购物,看谁在规定的时间内买的东西最多。这样,学生的注意力就集中在用英语做事上,注重了语言的意义,而不是语言的形式。在这个任务中,每个学生都扮演一个角色,需要全身心投入。这种身临其境的感觉,有利于语感的形成。任务型活动不仅能培养学生的实际运用语言的能力,还有利于学生其他能力的发展。《Go for it》 中Unit 4 Where is my backpack? 一课,主要培养学生细致的观察能力,能谈论物品所在地点。教师先让学生看图1a几分钟,接着合上课本,要求学生根据回忆回答问题,这样有利于培养学生的观察能力和注意力。

任务型教学则以人为本,重在信息沟通和语言的交流,就是说,为用而学,在用中学,学了就用。《Go for it》一书能将任务活动贯穿始终,也能将教学内容任务延伸到课外,给学生提供实际运用英语的机会,鼓励广泛地利用好课外资源。又如,Unit 4 Where’s my backpack? Section B, 3c.教师可以将该知识延伸到课外,让学生画出自己理想的房间,向同伴介绍自

己的房间。

三、任务型语言教学应注意的问题

1、明确学生和教师角色和地位

教师是活动的组织者,引导者。教师应该站在学生的角度,创设模拟交际的情景,扮演助学者,任务的组织者阿和参考者,可加入活动之中充当学生的伙伴。还要交给学生独立学生的技巧,同时要严格控制课堂讲解的时间,让学生严充分实践,这样,学生才有充分表现和自我发展的空间,才会真正成为学习的主人。

2、要给学生以成就感

教师在设计活动时,往往会忽略对活动结果的评价和利用。任务型学习活动的结果应使学生有一种完成任务的成就感和自豪感。为了达到这一目的,活动的结果应具有观赏性和持久性。因此把结果以各种成果的形式体现出来是很必要的。表扬听写,朗读,表演等结果,既活跃班级生活,激励了学生,又促进了英语学习。

3、要注意学生的个体差异

每个学生的知识累计和能力水平存在差异,在完成同一任务时,就会有快有慢,有好有坏。教师应注意学生完成任务的过程,并根据其努力程度给予适当的鼓励。教师在布置任务的时候应注意学生个体差异,对不同的学生布置不同的任务,但不能损伤学生的自尊心,最好以小组的方式,发挥学生的合作精神,共同努力完成任务。而且,向学生提问量不能有任何偏向,如果教师经常叫那些能说会道的学生发言,其他成绩稍差的学生或内向的学生就会降低参加讨论的热情,大多数学生就会心不在焉了。

4、要给学生充分的准备时间

许多教师在布置活动时,往往一下达任务,就马上让学生讨论,这样的效果不一定好,因为学生需要思考一下,至少也组织一下话题。因此先给学生一点时间让他们准备是必要的。这样学生在进行活动时会积极主动得多。

5、任务必须有明确的目标

学生只有根据目标有目的地运用英语进行交流,才能完成任务,才能达到交际效果。

6、教师应设计出各种使学生讲话的冲动及表达的欲望的活动

教师在课堂实践中,必须具备较强的组织能力和驾驭课堂的能力,给学生充分发挥想象力和创新能力的空间,指导他们在有表达欲望的活动中得到结论。

7、任务要具有可操作性,易难合理

任务太容易或太难都会使学生失去兴趣。任务型教学目的是提高学生用英语进行交际的能力,因此完成较难任务时对学生也不能使用母语,要求学生在课堂上必须讲英语。

8、任务必须有一个结果

在任务完成以后,学生应该有一个成果。可用分小组口头报告、书面报告、教师进行评价等方式展示出来。使完成任务的学生体验成功的喜悦

任务型教学是《新目标英语》下的教学模式,它能够充分发挥学生的自主、探究、合作学习,并且能够培养学生的综合运用英语的能力。但是,《新目标英语》教材的高起点、高要求,对从末有过英语基础的学生来说是识记、活动的开展等方面是一大障碍,对教师在活动的设计上是一大挑战。以上所述,只不过是本人在实际教学中的认识与体会,还有许多方面有待我们去探究,在实践中去进一步地完善。
