Writing如何写一封信

书信一般分为私人信函和正式信函,书信有以下几种:邀请信、感谢信、道歉信、求职信、投诉信等,不同形式的书信对信的要求也不同。

㈠书信的格式

英文信件由七个部分组成:信头(heading)收信人的姓名和地址(inside name and address)称呼(Salutation)正文(Body of the Letter)结束语(Complimentary Closure)署名(signature)附言(Postscript)

⒈信头

信头是指发信人的地址和日期。一般情况下,发信人只需把自己的地址写在信的右上角,离开信纸的顶头一英寸处,占两三行即可。其顺序是先写地址,地址由小到大,即门牌号——街名-------城市--------省份-------国名如:38West Road,Washington,D.C,USA;日期要写在地址的下方如:4 May 2002/May 4 ,2002/May 4,2002

2.收信人的姓名和地址

一般事务性信件或较生疏的朋友之间的信件,要写上是收信人的地址和姓名,而在极为熟悉的朋友之间可以略去。这一项要写在日期的 下一行的左上角,收信人的姓名写一行,收信人的地址占两行或三行,上下对齐。在姓名前一定要加称呼,对普通男子用Mr.,对未婚女子用Miss,对已婚女子用Mrs.,对婚姻状况不明的女子用Ms.对教授用Prof.对博士、医生用Dr

3.称呼

称呼是信文开头的称呼,其后一般加逗号。

对父母,亲戚:My Dear Mother/Dear Sister

对同学,朋友:My Dear Friend,/Dear Sir

对未婚女子:Dear Miss Lucy,/My Dear Miss Lucy

对一般女子(不知是否已婚):Madame,/Dear Madame

对公司,学校,工厂:Dear Sirs,/Gentlemen

4.正文

正文是信的主体部分,也就是信的内容正文应在称呼的下一行开始,征文的写法也有一定规律,一般是:开头带有寒暄语;正文写事情;收尾有寒暄客气的套语

(1)一般的开头套语,要根据信件内容。

① 感谢类开头:Thank you for your interesting /kind letter which arrived yesterday.② 喜悦类开头:I was /am so pleased /very happy/much delighted to receive your letter.③ 探寻类开头:How are you?How are you going?/I often think of you ,and how have you been

Students all over the world have to work for their education.A college education in the United States is expensive.The costs are so high that most families begin to save for their children's education when their children are babies.Even so, many young people cannot afford to pay the expenses of fulltime college work.They do not have enough money to pay for school costs.Tuition for attending the university, books for classes, and living expenses are high.There are other expenses such as chemistry and biology laboratory fees and special student activity fees for such things as parking permits and football tickets.The cost of college education increases every year.However, classrooms are still crowded with students.Some American students have scholarships or other support, but many do not.Students from other countries have money problems to overcome, too.Because students in

most international programs need to have a sponsor(a person, organization, or local government that pays for them), they work hard to earn scholarships or special loans.International students understand the value of going to school in another country.They also know that it is difficult.Yet just as Americans choose to attend American universities in spite of the difficulty, it is usually possible for students from abroad to work on university campuses to pay for some of the cost of their education.Some people believe that students value their education more if they work for it.Self-employment

One of the advantages of being self-employed is that the profit the business makes belongs to the owner.If the self-employed person succeeds in business, he has the chance to earn a great deal of money.The profit earned is the reward for the owner's effort, ability and creativity.Thus, a second advantage is that a person's intelligence and abilities have a direct effect on the earnings.A third advantage of being self-employed is that a person can control his working hours.While not all self-employed people are completely free, most of them have more control over this area than the salaried people.However, being self-employed is not without problems.First, being one's own boss places the responsibility directly on that individual's shoulders.Everyone has some weaknesses in some things.These weaknesses will affect how successful a self-employed person is.Second, though the self-employed can earn considerable profits with a successful business, losses can force them out of business and sometimes, place them in debt.A third disadvantage concerns income security.Self-employed people have no guaranteed wage.Their earnings can vary greatly, depending on business conditions.Salaried people, however, can generally count on continued earnings.In addition, salaried people often enjoy fringe benefits that mean greater peace of mind.One of these benefits may be insurance paid for by the employer that continues the employee's salary in the event of sickness or accident while many self-employed people do not have such protection.6
