Female: The English Speaking Contest has become a very important event for us high school students.It takes place once a year.Today we are feeling really happy and excited that we can be part of this competition.After all, this is a very good opportunity for our English learners to show

their excellent language skills, and also to learn to be proud of themselves.Male: Through this great event, we can also make friends from different places of our prefecture.This is a great chance because each candidate here has already passed the first, second or maybe even the third round, and finally you’re successfully standing here.More importantly, this is really a great opportunity for us to learn from each other and benefit each other.Female: since this competition first happened some 8 years ago, it has drawn the attention of thousands of young people, and it has proven to be the most prestigious English Speaking Competition in our prefecture.Male: The process of today’s contest goes this way: first, a short speech, each contestant is required to give a short speech within 5 minutes.Female: The following stage is Questioning and Answering: each contestant will have to answer one or two questions within 2 minutes.All the questions will be based on the present situation.Male: Ladies and gentlemen, this competition will be collectively judged by a jury of 6 judges.The jury includes one native English speaker and 5 other teachers of English.Some of these judges will be responsible for raising questions for our contestants to answer..Female: Now here are the rules for today’s competition.There are 100 points in all for each contestant;and each judge will give his / her own

Although our city Yancheng develops much faster and better, as we all know，the environment around us is getting worse and worse.For example, cars have made the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas is given off by factories.Trees have been cut down and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers.Some people even have no clean water to drink.Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly dropped.So I think we must do something to protect the environment.What can we do to protect our environmemt? I think we should do the followings.First, it’s best to ride a bike to school.We’d better not take a bus or a taxi.Second, we should remember to turn off the lights when we leave the classroom.Third, in our free time, we can collect the empty bottles and waste paper for recycling.The fourth idea is turning off the shower when we’re not using it.Last, we had better not cut down the trees, we have to take care of the trees.I’m sure everyone can make a difference to the environment and make our city more and more beautiful.
