《商务英语函电》精品课程自查报告

《商务英语函电》是国际商务专业、电子商务专业、商务英语专业的一门核心专业课程。课程教学内容以国际贸易流程为主线构建,涵盖建立业务关系、询价、报盘、还盘、订货、支付、包装、装运、保险、索赔等磋商环节,主要教授信函的行文结构、外贸专业词汇及语言文体等特点,让学生系统地学习、掌握外贸英文函电写作及处理技能。一年多来,课程组全体教师以建设具有特色和一流教学水平的课程为已任,精心研究和制定了精品课程建设规划,课程组负责人认真履行职责、课程组教师齐心协力,严格按规划逐一进行实施,使精品课程在教学队伍、教学内容、教学条件、教学方法与手段等各方面都有了较明显的改善和提高,初步建成了一支具有较强师资队伍、教学内容新颖、教学方法灵活、教学手段先进、教学效果良好、具有一定示范作用的课程。

包括课程建设规划、师资队伍建设、教学计划、教学改革与研究等;

1.《商务英语函电》课程建设指导思想、目标

学院制定了一系列专门的规章制度对课程建设进行管理与监督。通过提供资金支持、政策倾斜等措施提高教师进行课程建设的积极性。

该课程的建设一是体现理论联系实际的教育思想,强调理论在实践中的应用,增强学生对通过函电进行外贸业务活动的感性认识;二是体现通过实践活动促进学生对知识的消化,加深对理论的理解;三是体现实践活动有利于对学生发现问题、分析问题、解决问题能力的培养的原则,实践性教学对学生知识能力的内化起促进作用,从而促使学生知识能力素质的协调发展;四是依据国际贸易流程设计实训项目,突出实训项目的仿真性与可操作性;五是强调学生创新能力与创新精神的培养,综合实训与设计性实训占有一定比例。

2、《商务英语函电》课程的主要特色

①课程内容不断更新,体现实用,够用的原则。

书面交流的内容很广泛,我们围绕专业培养目标、毕业生就业岗位能力要求,由课程建设小组集体讨论,整合课程内容,调整课程结构。打破教材条条框框。②创设问题情境,进行模拟教学。

在课堂教学中,学生从一开始就分成不同的小组。每个小组要创建自己的机构(公司),在小组之间寻求各自的业务伙伴,直至最后的业务成交。随着课程任务的推进,学生也完成了一系列信函交流任务,熟悉了整个业务交往流程。

③突出学生实践能力培养,教学内容贴近岗位实际需求。每学期组织学生进行整个业务环节实际操作,根据交易的实际情况撰写不同内容的信函,体现了“边学边用,学用结合”的教学思想;在分配的技能实践学习中,重点对目前国际商务活动中较多使用的信函和较常碰到的问题为切入点,以“问题”为教学出发点,体现了“实用为主,够用为度”的教学理念;

另外,实习期间让学生在公司不同部门进行各个业务环节的岗上实践,体现了“以服务为宗旨,以就业为导向”的教育思想。

二、在2007年度开展本课程建设的主要措施及成效

1.本课程的教学大纲、教学课件、授课计划、习题、教学案例、参考文献等内容已在学校网站上开通,2.继续完善各项上网材料, 在授课过程中,针对教学内容和重点难点问题,及时对该课程的电子课件内容进行修改、补充、完善,以求内容更加充实,力争达到最好的教学效果 3.学校出资,用于本精品课程的设计开发。

4.来自教学督导及学生的评价:通过对学习该课程学生问卷调查和学生教学质量座谈会调查,督导和学生对课堂教学的反映为:教师教学认真、严谨,讲课熟练,并能突出重点、注 1 意学生兴趣和素质教育;课件条理性、逻辑性强,思路清晰,并穿插大量动画和视频,使理论与实践相结合。督导和学生对本课程教学的总体评价为“优良”。

三、今后几年课程建设远景规划

1.不断更新多媒体教学课件,力求使用更加方便,重点更加突出,形式更加新颖。

2.进一步加强实践性教学环节,突出学生动手能力的培养。进一步利用国际商务实训室及校外的实训基地,让学生在真实的业务环境中完成商务函电的写作,培养学生的处理实际问题的能力。

3.在教材建设,争取根据需要自编教材。

4.进一步加强师资队伍建设和教学管理,完善师资梯队,建设合 理的学历结构、年龄结构、学缘结构的师资梯队,提高课程组教师的创新能力和业务水平;促进教学思想、教学观念和教学方法的改革,使教学质量不断提高。

本课程建设的必要性和可行性

根据我校《04-10年发展规划》,学校的办学定位为“以本科教育和培养应用型人才为主的、国际化的、办学特色鲜明的社会主义商科类大学”。这一办学定位,秉承了我校40多年发展进程中逐步形成的“以人才市场需求为导向、以教学和科研为中心、以增强办学特色为抓手、以学生成才为本位”的办学理念。所谓培养人才,就是要把我们的学生培养成“能适应货物贸易、服务贸易、知识贸易不同领域需要的各类国际商务专业人才”。

根据这一办学定位,进出口英语函电的具体任务是:传授在国际贸易以及与国际贸易相关的银行、运输、保险等国际间商务活动中进行书面沟通的写作阅读技巧,应对策略,以及语言、文化、商业层面的有关知识。同时,由于进出口函电是记录进出口业务的全过程的重要文书,因此,本课程在传授以进出口业务为主的国际商务的主要交际语言的专业——商务英语专业——所设置的课程中占有主导地位,是商务英语专业的核心课程之一。

自我校于1960年成立之日起,即设有外贸英语函电课程,至今已有40多年历史。至“文革”结束前,对该课程的改革,基本上局限于在教材上革除一些中文译文中过于陈旧迂腐的词语,而在英文的词语方面,未作大的修改,教材的内容以信函和电报为主。文革结束后,尤其随着我国改革开放深入和科学技术的进步,本课程的内容增加了“三来一补”、讨论创建中外合资企业的内容,而函电的形式增加了电传信息的撰写等内容。1997年,本课程被立项为 2 市教委重点建设课程。在该次建设中,教改的重点是根据随着改革开放我国对外贸易方式的变革,以及电脑技术进步带来电子邮件在外贸函电中的应用,精简原教材中与实际业务操作不符的单元,将电报、电传的教学内容与E-mail的撰写合并为“电子信函”一个单元向学生作简略的介绍;同时,增加了“其他付款方式”一单元,以使教材更符合实际业务情况;根据我国即将加入世贸组织的新形式,新教材的范例信函收列了与提供服务的跨国企业进行付款、保险、运输等事宜磋商、及商讨购买软件等知识产权的信件。

在具体的语言教学内容上,新教材根据张春鉷老师提出的“有指导的交际法”guided communicative approach的教学思路,根据中国学生学英语、特别是写作时易犯的典型错误,专门设计了一套练习,培养学生用规范的英语进行写作的技能。可以说,该教材在全书的设计策划、教学法指导思想、练习模式、文字内容、乃至版式等都体现了进出口英语函电教学的新理念,也是我校进出口函电课程的教学改革的一次重大实践。

1999年本课程的教师承担了上海市教委的“世界银行资助的上海市普通高等学校课程建设项目”,编写了与新教材配套的《参考答案及简析》、《参考译文》、《题库》。

2001年,部分教师在研究了语用学的理论后,根据Grice的“合作原理”和Leech的“礼貌原理”,对教材中范例信函与其他部分的一些语句进行了一系列的修改,使信函的语言顺应英语国家提倡的“plain English”的写作原则。(同年,教材的“修订本”面世)。

综上所述,我们认为完全有必要也有可能将我校的进出口函电课程打造成一门校级的精品课程。

第一阶段(05年下半年至06年上半年)课程建设的施行情况

本课程建设项目自05年下半年起至06年上半年止,整个建设期限为三年。根据本项目立项申报书在计划进度及阶段目标所承诺的,我们应该完成如下任务: 1.修订《英语进出口函电课程教学大纲》 2.修订《英语进出口函电课程教学方案》 3.编写《英语进出口函电课程标准教案》 4.制作教材中11个单元的PPT课件

5.撰写两篇与本课程建设或教学研究有关的论文

目前上述任务完成了前四项。在该阶段中,我们做了以下两项工作: 1.完成标准考题五套共10份的命题(目标为30套)2.完成教学录像8个单元共29讲

以下,我们围绕上述工作的开展情况,对本课程建设的阶段性工作作一汇报。

已完成的既定任务

在这一阶段中,我们重点解决的教学问题是统一教学思想。该项任务涉及到修订教学大纲和方案,编写教案,制作课件等工作。因而,在此一并汇报。我们的具体的做法是利用先进的电脑技术,改进传统的教学方法和手段,深化教学内容。

如上所述,本课程历来的教学改革基本上是教材内容的改革。教材是教学内容的载体、是教学理念的体现。确实,通过历次的改革和改进,我们目前使用的教材因其具有“针对性强,突出对学生在商务环境中英语应用能力的训练”和“语言规范、纯正”等特点,在国内同类的教材中具有相当高的地位。但是,如何运用教材来施教却是由教员头脑中的教学理念所决定的。

商务英语教学界对商务英语是姓“商”还是姓“英”一直存在着激烈的争论,至今似乎尚无定论。而这一情况反映在我们的教学队伍中,进出口英语函电课程究竟是纯粹传授语言写作技能还是用英语传授进出口业务知识,人们也是智者见智、仁者见仁,各执其词,甚至更有人认为目前人们以电子邮件进行日常业务沟通,进出口函电课程没有什么可讲授的,教学量和课时可大大缩减,以至不必作为一门独立的课程而存在。因此,虽然运用同一本教材,由于人们对本课程的教学的诠释不一,于是在具体施教中,就出现“八仙过海、各显神通”,教学重点甚至具体的教学内容差异较大的现象。

作为本课程的负责人,作为一名热爱本课程的教学工作的教师、本人将以自己通过商务实践和教学实践亲身体验到本课程所教学的内容在国际商务工作中的重要性,来对上述的见解作具体分析和回答,在此不作赘述。

对于由上述情况而产生的问题,本人认为完全可以通过先进的电脑技术,制作课程软件,运用课堂的多媒体设备来解决的。(至于如何使问题得以解决,本人也将在有关论文中作详细阐述。)因此,在本精品课程建设立项的申报书中,我们在第一年的建设阶段中,把根据教材内容制作相应的课件作为一项主要任务来抓。

我们的具体做法是: 策划:

在修改本课程的教学大纲、教学方案时将在课堂教学中运用多媒体课件的因素考虑进去。根据由此修改的大纲和方案编制教案,在教案中将课件的运用以文字的形式制定下来。

根据教材中的教学项目:单元入门、信函范例、答疑解难、术语扩展、词语应用、句型菜单、写作讲义等设计相应的课件内容。动作:

由团队各位教师自愿选择单元,按要求承担课件制作的任务。

课程负责人收集各自制作的单元,按照大纲、方案、教案的有关要求,审阅、修改、统一课件的内容。

在05-06学年第二学期开课的班级中试用课件,征求学生意见,相应改进内容。

将如此修改过的课件发给团队成员,在本学期的教学中大面积使用,以进一步听取意见,收集反馈信息,以作进一步的修改。

如果把上述的努力作为投入的话,那么使用课件改进我们教学手段的产出是: 教学效率提高:

课堂授课中的要点、思考题、词语的辨析、术语的释义、词句的搭配、句型的变换、乃至学生作业的分析都在课前做成PPT课件,省却了传统课堂教学中的大量板书时间,提高了单位课时的授课效率。授课信息量增大:

授课效率提高,使教师在同样的单位课时内,向学生讲授的内容比在传统的课堂教学条件下更加丰富、更加详细。授课思路的清晰度提高:

由于备课时将授课内容严格按讲课顺序制作在PPT上,所以教师的讲课思路相当清晰,避免了传统教学中可能出现“开无轨电车”的现象。活跃课堂的教学气氛:

教学效率提高也使教师与学生能在课堂教学中有更多的时间进行互动,提问和讨论,学生比以前学得更加主动。教师讲课更有激情:

板书为点击鼠标所替代,教师在课堂内的劳动强度大大降低,课堂的环境更加环保,教师有更好的心绪认真讲课。

因此,虽然在备课和制作课件上化了大量的时间,但是通过05-06学年第二学期的教学,总的感觉是总的“产出”大于总的“投入”。

本学期,函电课程在英语专业和国际贸易专业的学生中大面积铺开。如上所述,课件开始进入第二轮使用的阶段。目前,教学手段改革所带来的优点已得到部分教师的肯定。可以相信,严格按照本课程的教学大纲和教学方案的要求,坚持在课堂中运用包含丰富、详尽的教学内容的课件,我们会逐渐对本课程教学内容深化的看法趋向统一,在教学思路上能够达成共识。

未完成的既定任务

在项目申报书中,本人计划在05年下半年项目启动时,就统一本教学队伍的教学思路,撰写一篇有关论文;在06年上半年,在按照新修订的教学大纲、计划、和教案的有关要求下,对运用新的教学手段进行授课的有关体会再撰写一篇论文。由于本人对课程建设的艰巨性认识不足,也由于本人缺乏对教学理论的学习和研究,并且也不能否认在此期间在学校的其他工作中投入了一部分精力(例如应本二级学院领导推荐,受市教育考试院委托,承担由我校成人教育学院主考的“高等教育自学考试商务英语专业(独立本科段)《进出口英语函电》课程和《WTO基础知识》课程”的设计工作,而后一课程是一门在我校本科教学计划中尚未设置的全新课程;国际商务应用文翻译课程建设;以及科研处的团队培育项目[有关WTO文献翻译,与本课程建设项目几乎没有关系]等),因此该两项目标未能按期实现。本人负全部责任。

完成的未定任务

1.完成标准考题六套共12份的命题(目标为30套)

在全校大张旗鼓开展的“迎评”工作的推动下,我们提前启动了按计划于第三阶段(07年下半年至08年上半年)进行的试题编制工作。

命题30套共60份试卷的计划基本上是按照五年试题不重复的要求制定的。平均每学年6套12份,每学期3套6份:英语专业本科或学期总课时为72课时的教学对象2套4份;英语大专或学期总课时为36课时的教学对象1套2份(根据每个学期具体开设的课程的班级 5 的课时及有关情况,套数和份数作相应调整)。

试卷在现今阶段基本上是对课程教学情况进行考核的工具,命题是否达到标准有关教学考核的尺度是否标准,因此乃是整个教学工作中相当重要的一项工作。

对标准试卷的要求我们参照上海教育考试院的命题有关规定,其中包括:

试卷的覆盖面。试卷要覆盖到教材的每一单元和重点节。一般要覆盖到知识点的80%。试卷的题量。每份试卷以小题计,应为50道左右。试题的难度。按易、中等偏易、中等偏难、难分为四个档次,相应分数比例基本为20:30:30:20。选择题比例。每份试卷中选择题所占的分数比例在30%—40%左右;非选择题为60%—70%左右。

题型。不少于4种,不多于8种。重复率:同一套两份试卷题目不重复,不同学期同一类考试对象的试卷的题目重复率不超过15%,且同类题型中不得超过3%。

2.完成教学录像8个单元共29讲

在校教务处及技术部门的关心和支持下,我们已完成部分单元的授课录像。由于05-06学年第二学期英语专业中只开设大专学生的函电课,按教学计划,他们周课时为2节,授课至教材的第八单元止,因此未能进行全教材的教学录像。

由于该轮授课是主讲教师首次运用多媒体课件,且其人视觉形象也不尽如人意,加之大专学生客观上英语水准一般,所以录像工作未达到预期效果。希望以后能从中青年骨干教师中遴选合适人员主讲,再配以学习气氛良好的英语本科班级听讲,制作出更精美的教学录像登录网上。

教师队伍建设

由于所授课程的性质的要求,本课程教学团队人员的平均年龄为45岁,可能冠本校的教学队伍之首。其中绝大多数人员的教龄在15年以上,相当一部分有在涉外商务机构或企业从事外贸工作的经验。

本教学团队更须本着终生学习的精神,不断学习专业理论,学习新的教学手段。在当前的课程建设中,大家边学习边工作,完成了课件的制作任务。不少教师已在课堂教学中使用新课件,逐步适应新的教学方法,形成新的教学理念。

二级学院领导非常关心本教学团队的建设,在今年暑假赴美教学组团中,也有本团队的教师参加。在本院推行的导师带教制下,学院领导从新进青年教师中遴选出业务素质高,有敬业精神的优秀教师充实我们的队伍。通过积极参与课程建设、互相听课、虚心学习,现在该教师已挑起重担,独当一面在给英语专业的学生上课,取得了较好的评价。

项目管理

本建设项目严格按照我校颁布的《学科、专业和课程建设管理办法》实行目标管理,由项目负责人将整体项目进行分解,具体落实到每个成员,并督促承担任务的教师的进度及检查完 6 成质量。

希望有关领导能将教师的年度考核与其参加项目及完成任务的质量情况挂钩,以督促有建设项目的教研室、教研组的成员主动、积极地投入项目建设。
